DESCRIPTION
Aether Genesis, or Division IX as it was known in internal memos, was a biotechnology and living systems subsidiary of the Aether Systems Corporate Family. It was established in 905 ABY in the wake of the continued growth of Aether Systems and its relocation to Ferrix in the Outer Rim Systems. The company was known for its dedication to the research, cultivation, and industrial application of advanced biological sciences, combining cutting-edge xenobiology with the ancient bioengineering traditions of the Yuuzhan Vong Shapers it employed. Aether Genesis specialized in creating living technologies, commonly known as biots, for civilian, industrial, medical, and military purposes. From self-repairing infrastructure and regenerative medical organisms to organic starship components and adaptive environmental systems.
The company's largest and most sensitive operations revolved around the cultivation of Yuuzhan Vong Biots, which were developed exclusively by certified Yuuzhan Vong Shapers employed by Aether Genesis. While the corporation embraced Yuuzhan Vong biotechnology, it rejected the religious zealotry and unrestricted experimentation historically associated with the Yuuzhan Vong as every living construct was cataloged, genetically documented, and equipped with biological safeguards designed to prevent uncontrolled reproduction, mutation, or ecological disruption. Aether Genesis maintained its primary headquarters on Ferrix, though it had additional locations throughout the Unknown Regions and the Mandalorian Territories on biologically and ecologically verdant planets.
RATIONALE
Aether Genesis was established in 905 ABY on Felucia by the leadership of Aether Systems after the corporation recognized that conventional engineering alone could not meet the demands of a rapidly expanding galaxy. Following the acquisition of extensive xenobiological knowledge and the recruitment of several respected Yuuzhan Vong Shapers willing to practice their craft outside of traditional religious doctrine, Aether Genesis was founded by Aether Systems as a wholly owned biotechnology subsidiary dedicated to responsible living systems engineering. Rather than acquiring an existing biotechnology company through a hostile takeover, Aether Systems invested heavily in purpose-built research facilities, cultivation complexes, and biosecure laboratories, allowing Aether Genesis to develop its own scientific culture and operational standards from the ground up.
