| DESCRIPTION |
| Aether Systems introduced the Aether EF-60a at a time when conflict in the Galaxy reached its peak, marked by the collapse of the Galactic Alliance and the rise of the Galactic Empire as a means to ensure that even the smallest of independent forces had a means to protect themselves. The EF-60a is both easily and rapidly produced, and it has been noted that those who had the experience of being trained on the Aether TC-F5 can just as easily slip into their roles and stations on the EF-60a, as it shares similar interior layouts of its control consoles and floor designs. These craft are known for being simply average, and nothing overtly differentiates or raises the vessel above similarly sized Capital Ships due to the ideal of keeping the design simple and easy to use for any individual finding themselves stationed on the vessel. While the craft can act in the role of a pocket carrier, this capacity is limited due to its otherwise restricted hangar space, as the EF-60a is only capable of supporting and deploying a singular Starfighter squadron as well as a singular Support Craft squadron. Where the EF-60a has shown promise is in its armaments, specifically, the Cluster Bomb Launchers that line the hull of the vessel. This specialized armament can be utilized in equal measure for offense as well as defense, by deploying specialized munitions that create a cloud of shrapnel upon detonation. However, this weapon does not come without its drawbacks, as those munitions that are deployed are just as devastating a threat to enemy starfighters and bombers as they are to friendly craft due to their inability to identify friend from foe. It also necessitates that any undetonated ordnance be properly disposed of or recovered to prevent unwanted civilian collateral damage. Though the Galactic Conflict has seemingly reached a lull in the fighting, lines have been drawn and factions anticipating one another's next move; Aether Systems has struck first while the iron is hot to ensure that those on the sides are not left totally defenseless. The Aether EF-60a easily fulfills the demand for a reliable, easily produced, and rapidly deployed Escort Frigate to assist in bolstering the meager fleets or reinforce standing forces that have suffered a heavy blow. Despite there being nothing special about these craft, it is their overall averageness that allows them to stand out in a Galaxy where every other ship has some special feature or quirk to set it apart from all the others. |
