First Reply Adventure on Naboo

L5fiycB.png

Pari Sylune was never one to sit still for long. Though barely initiated into the Jedi Order and newly stationed at the serene temple on Naboo, the young Padawan already felt the temple walls pressing in. She had already had a lifetime of meditation with the Chalactan Adepts and did not wish to meditate another moment in silence when there was a whole world waiting beyond the cloisters.

With the morning sun rising over the Naboo countryside, Pari slipped away for a self-appointed day of exploration. Her first destination: the elegant capital of Theed City.

Theed was everything the archives had promised: cascading waterfalls, ivory towers, and cobbled streets humming with both tradition and modern life. Pari wandered the grand avenues with wide eyes, drinking in the scents of open-air markets and the sound of classical Nabooan music floating on the breeze.

But tranquility quickly gave way to mystery.

As she paused near a vendor's stall, a sleek green-and-gold astromech droid shot past her in a blur of panicked beeps. Moments later, a cloaked figure dashed after it, nearly toppling a stack of fruit crates in their wake. Angry shouts echoed as startled civilians stepped aside.

Pari didn't hesitate. Whether it was a thief, a runaway droid, or something else entirely, the Force nudged her forward. Her curiosity and Jedi training propelled her into the chase.

Unbeknownst to her, this small detour through Theed's winding streets was the first step into an unexpected adventure, one that would test her instincts, challenge her discipline, and lead her to something far greater than a morning escape from meditation.

He really wished that he had his mother's ability to teleport sometimes. It was for the convenience of moving around, wandering through the streets or realising you were going to be late and just poof, right on time. There was also the added benefits of not having to chase down criminals running through the streets of Theed. That was something the young Padawan had not been expecting when he first joined the Order and it was a good cardio work out for him. Aileni was faster than most humans his age, or just in general.

However, this criminal was outpacing him just enough to be irritating and a constant reminder that he needed to really learn Force Speed. If he wasn't going to be teleporting then he needed the chance to just run fast.

As he turned around a corner, skidding about slightly as he moved, another Padawan seemed to join in the running. "Hey, I'm Aileni, Padawan." Aileni panted out loudly to reassure the other Padawan that he wasn't another criminal to give chase to. "They are stupidly quick!" He added, an explanation for why he hadn't catch the criminal yet.

At least, Aileni assumed a criminal. People who ran like this were almost never good guys. From his experience.

She caught up to the figure quickly, but as it turned out he was not the target at all.

“I'm Aileni, Padawan….They are stupidly quick!”

“Pari, also padawan. I guess we will just have to be stupidly smart then!”

She let out a joy filled laugh that seemed to sing with inner spirit. The next moment she had flung out her hand, sending a wave of the Force outward. It rippled through the cobbled street and then hit the hooded figure ahead, tripping them and letting them go sprawling right on their backside. The droid continued to zoom off in the distance however.

“We got him!” She skidded to a halt gracefully, kicking up dust right in the tripped man’s face.

“Hey! Watch it! What’s the big idea, tripping me you brats???”

Force Push to trip the guy up?

Why hadn't he thought of that? It seemed an obvious solution to the chase. Aileni didn't stop, he jumped onto the back of the hooded figure and pinned them firmly to the ground. He wasn't the largest person but Aileni held a surprisingly large amount of strength and muscle density. Seeing the droid screeching off, Aileni looked back to Pari, "the droid still running off is going to be trouble, isn't it...?" Loose ends were never something Aileni liked the idea of.

It was why he never watched shows unless they had a concrete ending. He needed the conclusions.

"Why were you chasing the droid? And why do you look so suspicious?" Aileni asked, figuring that it would be good to figure out who they were dealing with.

“the droid still running off is going to be trouble, isn't it...?

“Oh err.. maybe. Oops..”

She turned to look but the droid had already sped off and out of sight. Perhaps she should have made sure to detain them both?

“Why were you chasing the droid? And why do you look so suspicious?”

“Suspicious?? You are the ones knocking old men over ya little vermin!”

He struggled slightly, then winced as his joints ached and went still.

“If you must know that droid stole from me!”

Pari frowned, feeling extra guilty now.

“I am sorry. I thought… well let us help find the droid, please.”

“I guess since you made the mess you might as well help clean it up! Now get off me!”

Hearing that the guy had been robbed by the droid, Aileni groaned, it was a rough time. They had grabbed the wrong one, "sorry, but chasing around with saying what is going on. People are going to assume you are the one harassing the droid." Aileni mentioned as he lifted off the body of the older man.

Reaching out, he helped the other man onto his feet. Giving an apologetic bow, "what did this droid steal? We would like to help in recovering it for you."

"An apology for tackling you." Aileni stated before rising back to his six foot full height.

"Yea... yea. Now listen here you two little vermin. What that droid took isn't of consequence to you! So just go get me that droid and stop harassing me alright?"

He spit on the ground and started dusting himself off. "Go on! Get!"

Pari frowned at the cranky old man, but felt it best they not antagonize the situation further. She gently tugged on Aileni's arm, though she wondered if he would even notice. He was so tall.

"Come on, lets see if we can find the droid. Then we can hear both sides of this story."

Meanwhile the little droid was four streets down, finally slowing to a roll now that it was not being chased any longer.

Aileni took a firm sniff of the guy, he was deeply suspicious of the man and keeping that scent locked in his mind, it would ensure that things didn't spiral later down the line. People were always a lot easier for him track than droids since everyone has a unique scent to him. Gifts of heightened senses. As soon as Pari tugged him, Aileni turned and followed her, the delicate pull away from the cranky old man was not unnoticed by the taller boy.

"Sounds good. Something strange is going on." Aileni nodded his head, finding the droid was seemingly a task of searching for a needle in a haystack. "Unfortunately, trickier for me to track droids over people." Aileni admitted to Pari as he looked around, hoping to see something.

The piercing green eyes of Aileni narrowed as he spotted the droid. He tapped Pari on the shoulder and gestured to move silently. Dodging and weaving through the crowd, Aileni reached forward with the Force and lifted the droid off the ground. Preventing it from running away from them and keeping it in place so they could catch with it. "Do you speak binary or droidspeak?" Aileni, himself, was fluent in many languages, including droidspeak and binary but he needed to know in case he was needed for translating.

"Don't worry if you can't, I can translate."

L5fiycB.png

They caught up to the droid a lot quicker than Pari would have thought. It was the right droid, green and gold and currently squealing at being hoisted into the air.

"Do you speak binary or droidspeak?"

"I may be a little rusty." She smiled at the unintended pun, and then locked her teak colored eyes onto the droid.

"Why did you steal from that old man?"

"Beep boo squak beep bit beep!"

"I think he's saying he didn't steal anything and that the old man is the thief. Hmm... quit the conundrum."

"Beep bit beep!"

"He wants us to go meet his master. What do you think?" She turned to the tall boy, wondering who he believed in this scenario.

"I think he needs to tone down the language, seems he is speaking a little more colourful than you might have caught on but your translation was basically accurate." Aileni's vivid green eyes focused on the droid before them. He crouched to get more in eyesight of the droid and face to face when he assessed whether this was going to be a good path to take.

There was a pause as the young Padawan took in everything. "Hmm... I think more information is never a bad thing. Especially since we don't want to just believe everything that is being said." Aileni was curious to see how this case worked out and meeting the owner of this droid could be a step in the right direction. "Need to be cautious though."

Rising up, he looked over to the droid and nodded his head for the droid to lead the way. Looking over to Pari, he whispered to her to avoid the droid overhearing them, "what are your thoughts on this?" Curious if she was leaning one way of the other.

L5fiycB.png

Pari frowned at the droid, almost in a scolding way as her companion admitted the droid was using some colorful language. She hardly thought such words were necessary, but none the less it seemed her translation was mostly accurate. It was good to know her binary skills were not completely rusty.

As they started to move in the direction the droid lead them her new comrade whispered to her. She was pensive for a moment, and then whispered back;

"I'm not sure. The old man seemed believable enough but perhaps its easier to believe a human than a droid? It's also suspicious the man did not want to come personally retrieve whatever he said was stolen."

"Don't judge his colour too harshly on him, droids pick up a lot of bad habits from their masters." Aileni mentioned quietly to Pari, he didn't want to view the droid too negatively, it was likely surrounded by language that was less than savoury. Especially if what Aileni suspected was going on, was actually going on. "I think he didn't want us to realise the item he was after was possibly not a legal bit of equipment for him to have. People get very suspicious when they are trying to hide criminal behaviour." Aileni whispered back.

Since realising he wanted to be more of a Jedi Shadow than any other pathway as a Jedi, the exploration of how the criminal mind works, what crime syndicates have there been and what ones continue to exist, all that and more. It was something that Aileni was finding himself obsessively learning about and studying as he gaze over the many docs and holocrons that held so much information.

As they followed the droid, "we're definitely heading into a shadier part of the city. Keep a look out for any trouble." Aileni whispered, realising that he would might need to do the talking with this droid's owner. Depended how if Pari was skilled with other languages as well. "Do you speak many languages? This might be someone who only speaks Huttese or something..." Aileni mentioned, feeling a little tense since they were walking into a new situation without much knowledge on their combined strengths and weaknesses were.

"I speak a fair few, but I don't have any serious training so I might not know everything. It happens when you are a nomad." She spoke mater of factually. Pari had been traveling her entire life, which so she often picked up snippets of other languages. You had to learn to get your needs met in different cultures so she ended up learning by immersion. She had never taken a language course or anything.

She felt a little apprehensive about dealing with criminals. Pari had not yet had many run ins with organized crime.

They followed the droid through the seedier part of town and eventually they stumbled upon what looked like a small parlor where people could hang out and have a few drinks. It wasn't truly an official Cantina, more like people brought fold-able chairs and just kind of gathered there. There was also a mechanics shop that seemed to be a hub of sorts. The droid buzzed passed the rowdy day drinkers as if it was used to the site, and lead them to the door of the mechanical shop. It opened the door and slid inside...

Aileni nodded his head, "I learned languages and found that I had a talent for languages, ended up fluent in a load really quickly. They are always a lot of fun to learn." Aileni admitted, it was one of his few traits that he loved to brag about since languages were so interesting and diverse. The differing ways people exchanged information and how meaning was expressed or stressed, it provided a little insight into how a person thinks.

Following the droid, Aileni's expression soured, looking more annoyed and daring anyone to test him. Being around others who had travelled the galaxy and experienced interactions with criminals, Aileni had heard that looking tough got rid of a lot of the initial issues. Coming across as someone from a similar background went a long way in rapport than appearing as someone better off.

Slipping into the door, Aileni stopped and saw a grizzled cyborg, overweight with a large mechanical arm and eye. Aileni moved slowly, suspiciously forwards the man. "Hey, your droid was being chased down. We stopped the guy chasing him and wanted to make sure whatever he was delivering you was your property. Since the other guy claimed it was stolen property, need to make sure he isn't correct. Tie up loose ends, so to speak." Aileni spoke with a cold tone, cutting to the chase and not drawing it out.

The cyborg moved forward and Aileni could feel the robotic eye scanning them, analysing them. "Is that so? Did M0R-PH here get in a scrape again, the rascal is not always the brightest, but he be honest with ya. What he has is mine, whoever attempts to claim otherwise is a liar." There was a large grin on the cyborg's face as he leaned in even closer. "But I can assures you, nothing I got breaks any laws, laddy.... and lady." Looking over to Pari as well.

Pari found his stories about language studies fascinating. She was eager to meet more Jedi and learn how they spent their days—what shaped them, what challenged them. Though she was still new to training at the Jedi Order, her sights were already set on visiting other enclaves and independent groups across the galaxy. Adventure pulled at her like gravity; staying in one place too long just wasn't in her nature.

As they stepped into the shop, a cyborg greeted them. It was hard to tell who was being truthful—both the situation and the players felt slippery. The cyborg came off as personable and easygoing, but charm wasn't the same as honesty. When his gaze landed on her, Pari offered a polite smile.

"So… what exactly was the droid delivering?"
she asked.

The cyborgs face reddened slightly but his smile remained in place. As if on cue the droid beeped and opened a compartment, then used its small grasp tool to put the item on the counter.

It was a kyber crystal.

When the droid complied with what Pari asked, Aileni assumed that this was going to be a case of nothing significant since he assumed that the cyborg would have ensured the droid would not accidentally cause him to confess to a crime. Instead, Aileni was proved immediately wrong with the placement of a kyber crystal placed on the table and Aileni quickly pulling the crystal into his hand with the Force to prevent the cyborg from hiding it. Or denying it was exactly what they saw it to be.

"This... this is not something you should own, sir." Aileni stated as he felt the Force flowing through the crystal. It was large enough to be used in a Lightsaber and he knew that others would have crystals as necklaces or jewellery, they were traditionally display as such, not hidden within a droid.

Looking over to Pari, then back to the cyborg, "we need to know where you got this. This is Jedi business. Don't tell us and this shop gets shut down."

"Damn High Republic yokes!" The cyborg growled, losing the charm he had attempted to maintain, "I gots it from a black market deal, alright. I can't say much more than that and I ain't showing you where the location is. Just..." He growled and moved to his desk, scribbling down on a piece of paper and thrusting it to Pari.

"Go there at that time, maybe you find what you want, maybe not." The cyborg grunted then glared over to his droid, "damn rat of a droid!" Giving the droid a sharp boot.

The old man stepped closer to Pari as she asked him what he wanted the crystal for. His cybernetic eyes narrowed, the red pupil glowing even brighter and more intensely as if it was scanning right through the young Jedi. "And why should I tells you? Huh? Only get myself more in troubles wouldn't I." There was a deep chuckle echoing throughout his body as he leaned back.

"Crystals can be sold for high prices and some factions desire them to be turned into superweapons. It's likely that reason, but unless he states, we might never know." Aileni mentioned, reading up on criminal behaviours and what was the cause and reasoning behind said actions, it was interesting for Aileni to observe things in practice. He was curious what led to this man being a criminal.

Looking over the note, "not far from where we are, but got a couple hours to kill... The other guy, why was he trying to steal it from the droid...? Competition?"

Aileni looked at Pari, wondering what her thoughts on it would be.
