Smiling, K'Dan nodded to both Senators in turn as they spoke up.

"Not to worry, Senator of Eshan and Senator of Zeltros. This bill will be brought forward again after the coming election. However, it must be mentioned to the Senate that knowledge of mido-chlorians and their connection to the force has been known for hundreds of years by those who do not use the Force specifically, otherwise how would the Arkanians have been working on it for so long?

But not matter, the Senator of Mechis III will pull back the Act until after the elections."

"This bill will have my full backing and support. A clear distinct line must be drawn betweent the Jedi Order and politics." said the Senator of Kuat with an approving nod.

"Senator @[member="Alena Beswin"], this bill doesn't call for jedi it calls for anyone who could feel the force. It almost falls into the level of testing done during the dark times by the Inquisition."

Yusan spoke again, this time the question was aimed at Beswin as he spoke. "So you would support something that virtually mirrors what a ancient Sith lord that corrupted and took over the Republic did. Excuse me but this bill will only push this Republic further into corruption and closer to a dictatorship. To deny someone the right to represent their people, or in some cases to bar a species completely from the Senate like the Miraluka should they hold representation is tyranical and wrong. And anyone that supports such a thing is no better than a Sith or a Slaver. To support such makes you corrupt, vile, and clearly not fit for a position that protects the people of the Republic and that is suppose to be a beacon for people to look up to." He let his glare rest on her as he spoke, waiting for a response. @[member="Alena Beswin"] @[member="Jack Sparrow"] @[member="Jack Harkness"] @K'Dan La'Roi

"And yet," replied Jack calmly, studying his fingernails, "Jedi are known to be able to sway opinions, even make people behave out of character. Who's to say a Jedi with motive wouldn't simply come in here and use his or her powers to turn a vote to their favor? In the best interests of all, they would say.

"And secondarily, are there any Jedi Senators? Don't they have other things they should be doing? Can one be a servant of two masters, and if so, what does one do when decisions need to be made that are unpopular to one or the other, hmm?"

Yusan's glare now switched to Sparrow, any chance of his composure returning utterly lost behind his anger at the mans words. "As someone who is being trained by the very Jedi that now stands at the docking station for my Pod, i can clearly say that i would lay down every thing i have for this Republic and its people. And i already have, when our Senate building was attacked -I- Was the one that was there, half dead, coordinating the search for the Sith Masters and for the control of the chaos that insued. Where were you, where were ANY OF YOU when this happened? Do not even think to point out that having the force and being trained in it questions the judgement of a senator. Because if anything it has made me more than any of you slime that votes for such a Vile bill to be passed which would restrict the rights of the common people and their representatives." @[member="Jack Sparrow"]

"There is a jedi senator, a Representative from Tython who usually comes to offer his input. Senator Hion is well known and respected Senator Sparrow. As to the issue of other jedi it is my understanding mind tricks on that scale require a lot of work and swaying the full breadth of the senate for a vote, even half of it could and would take that time. We would be able to see it, feel it possible. The other part Senator Yusan brought up of us excluding entire races because of their natural affinity sets forward a dangerous precident we should never follow."

Then he heard Yusan and spoke turning his head. "Senator please calm down, losing your temper will not help this and while I agree with you. Perhaps take a break we should go to recess. Or dismissal since arguing the bill is pointless without a chancellor or vice in place."

@[member="Yusan Fenn"]

A hand would set itself on Yusan's shoulder. "Easy senator, don't give them something else to sling mud about." Said a calm Marek S'hadar, who had entered the chamber to observe and just happened to end up near Fenn. The man who had angered Fenn had irked Marek as well, but he was not a senator, and would hold his tongue.

Yusan breathed in, taking in both Senator Harkness' and Marek's words carefully and calming himself. They were right and there was nothing he could do to change this pompous and vile creature's mind. Yusan had thought he would be the one in the senate that would be considered this horrible in his mind. But he had found that a few choice Senators were corrupted and as dark minded as any Sith or any backwater criminal. He inclined his head to @[member="Jack Harkness"] before turning it to look at @[member="Marek S'hadar"] as he spoke lightly. "Sorry, i lost my composure too easily... thank you for the aid Jedi." It was such an odd thing, he was now supporting the very order he had hated for them casting his mother out, but it didnt matter now. He saw them for what they were and realized one bad apple did not make a dying tree.

"I've begun to notice that you're a very...passionate man, Senator Fenn," smirked Jack, declining to use the word overemotional. "Good for you mate, though likely bad for the holos. What about this? What if I were to propose an amendment to the bill to introduce ysalimiri to the voting chamber? That might do wonders to keep us from wondering what our distinguised Jedi Senators might be up to, and the olbio trees would also add a lovely decorative touch."

The Senator from Kashyyyk was of course referring to the creatures that projected a bubble within which no Force powers were possible. He assumed someone else could do the math as to how many ysalamiri it would take to cancel out the Force within the entire chamber.

Hion hummed. "This bill saddens me. Jedi can be trusted. Are we to also outlaw those who exude pheromones? Shall there be no Zeltrosian senators? Hauum, please, this is unnecessarily discriminatory."

The whale didn't look offended, but he did look sad, those big black eyes of his, normall cheery, now downcast.

For a moment Harkness was so glad he wasn't an actual zeltron and justr elevted because he had retired there. Then he also heard Jack Sparrow and raised an eyebrow. "Such creatures would require a massive migration, funds allocated to the Mandalorians for it and as I recall special frames to use. The drastic change to all of their lives would make an endangered species ravaged when the Vong attacked Myrkr be at greater risk."

A horrifying prospect, this bill. Those against it had sound reasons yet it seemed that everyone was missing the most glaring. "So, this bill will unilaterally bar people from office based on a blood type regardless of any force training in order to 'protect' us? But it's perfectly alright for them to still stand in the room and observe where their talents could theoretically be used. Which I might add, we have no evidence of mental powers ever being used in such a way." Taking a breath, Chi looked right at Senators @[member="Jack Sparrow"] and @[member="Alena Beswin"] "All this would accomplish is the removal of a few current sitting Senators while gravely insulting the jedi and several force-inclined species. Voting an 'aye' on this would only harm our Republic and mean we've given into the fear of mysticism."

"Well I for one have a tremendous fear of mysticism," muttered Jack. Louder, he added, "But as the distinguished Senator from Mechis III has agreed to table this discussion until after the election, I will graciously allow myself to listen to all sides before reaching a final conclusion."

@[member="Hion the Herglic"] @[member="Jack Harkness"] @[member="Chi Chuchi"]

"My fellow senators, you seem to misunderstand the purpose of this proposed legislation! From what I see, the aim of this bill is not to discriminate unfairly against Force-Users, bar people from office based on a blood type, or to purge them of their political voices, it is rather, to add to the legitimacy of our Republic! The Jedi Order has its own hierarchy, one that a Force User could climb. The Senate is a separate entity, in the same Republic ofcourse, but one that a non-Force User climbs! Can you not recall the downfall of the Republic brought forth by Palpatine? Equilibrium is vital to the Republic's stability, and the Jedi Order and the Senate can only balance out if one side has Force-Users and the other non-Force Users."

"The Senator for Kuati speaks true. This bill was not intended to discriminate against the species in the galaxy that are naturally Force sensitive, or to insult the Jedi Order in any way. Its intent was to allow the Senate and the representatives of each planet to remain secular in its decision making abilities. When former Senator Palpatine came to power, he used his own Force abilities to sway his goals in the direction he wished. By separating the Jedi from the Senate we allow this possibility of 'Force Affluence' to be removed. No longer would we be pressured from the Jedi Order, or the Sith, or the Templars, or any other Force group, to pass bills that they preferred when the bills might place the goals of the Senate in jeopardy.

All I am suggesting by this Bill is that, should the political alignment of the Jedi change, as it has before in the past, should we, as representatives of the planets of the Republic, be swayed by their religious opinions in determining the future of the Republic, only for it to result in devastation of the populations we represent?"

Yusan stood once more and spoke, controlling his voice and words this time no matter how much the words of the others pushed him to react more heavily. "Senators Beswin and La'roi..." He let his glaring glance rest on the latter of the two names. "You are highly over reacting. The Jedi have never tried to sway our opinions nor have they tried to pass a legislation, and i dont think that banning all force capable people from Government is a good idea in the least. Firstly again there are entire species that have a force affinity like the Miraluka whom need it to even see. And as for Palpatine, using him as an example against the Jedi is, for the lack of a better word, moronic at best. He was never a Jedi and he did the very thing that you are doing, pushing the Jedi away so that his own dark influence could weave its way into the Senate and corrupt them. Lastly, the Jedi changing political alignments? You have got to be joking, they have been the Republics protectors for more than five thousand years. If you are seriously thinking that the Jedi would turn on us and take over the Republic then you are paranoid, vile, or corrupted by a Sith yourself." He let the words linger, staring directly at K'dan.

"The jedi order have no political agenda or they shouldn't. THey have an always do serve in the protection of the Republic. Their opinion does not change unless you mean the times when we drove them off long ago but the age of the Pius Dea are gone, we are not so humancentric that we can just say only non force users in the senate." Then his head turned at the mention more of just ramblings. "Would it help if the jedi signed a pledge saying they would never use their powers on us? We have to trust them to protect us, that takes faith and trust in our people. Same way we expect the people to have faith in us to do right by them."
