Energy - Blended materials make the shield hyper resistant to energy based attacks.
Kinetic -Aside from the resistant materials, the Low-Friction Coating makes it difficult for physical blows to land squarely.
Lightsaber Resistant - The materials used to produce this also lend themselves to being highly lightsaber resistant.
Bubbled - Enhanced with Dathomir based magic, the Spell of protection weaved into the interior surface activates with a thought to provide a bubble of energy shielding for the user.
Revitalized - While not able to regrow limbs, the Revitalization of the Whuffa does allow for the wielder to go for extended periods of time between rests while wielding the shield.

Heat Risk - While Lightsaber resistant, the heat generated by combating such a weapon threatens to overheat the shield, potentially scorching the wielder's hand.
A Sort of Ring to it - The materials are somewhat conductive of Sonic attacks, making them more pronounced given the qualities of some of the materials.
Shocking - Using biometric security to secure the shield, should anyone but the owner take hold of the handle, the inlaid Electric Shock Lacing will activate.
Bubble Limits - If activated, shield will encompass the user, but will leave those surrounding them to their fates.

The Abrantes Bulwark is a rare convergence of metallurgy, witchcraft, and precision engineering. An heirloom-grade physical shield forged not just to block harm, but to endure it. Commissioned for Cassian Abrantes and crafted by the technowitch Niki Priddy, the Bulwark stands as a statement of defiance against inevitability.

At its core, the shield is formed from Songsteel, its resonant lattice subtly humming under stress, dispersing kinetic force through harmonic vibration rather than brute absorption. This foundation is reinforced with HPI-grade Dral Kayatr–Cayalah composite, a material prized for its resistance to fracture even under repeated high-energy impacts. The shield’s face is edged in electrum, etched with Dathomiri sigils, while panels of polished obsidian and layered copper, guerrerite, nickel, and slivian iron components provide both structural integrity and arcane conductivity.

The reverse grip is built around a polycarbonate handle, treated with a frictiongrip enhancement that actively resists slippage during sudden impacts or rotational deflection. A low-friction coating across the shield’s outer surface encourages glancing blows, blaster bolts, shrapnel, or blades to slide away rather than bite.

Bound into the shield’s structure are two ancient Dathomiri workings. The Spell of Protection, which subtly reinforces the shield’s material cohesion at the moment of impact and generates a bubble shield around the user when activated, and the Revitalization of the Whuffa, a restorative enchantment that reduces fatigue in the bearer during prolonged engagements.

Hidden beneath the Songsteel skin, electric shock lacing is entwined with a biometric security system, keyed exclusively to Cassian Abrantes’ fingerprints. Unauthorized contact triggers a calibrated electrical discharge, nonlethal, but decisively discouraging, while the shield remains inert and balanced in the hands of its rightful bearer.

Each strike it turns aside is recorded in the resonance of its Songsteel core, a quiet ledger of survival written in vibration and spellwork.
