He was concerned?

Iris blinked. Glanced briefly towards Valery. Oh. Oohh. Her gaze shifted back just in time to see Alicio slip away. To the side. Breaking the usual back and forth of Makashi. She blinked again, but she wasn't caught off guard. Kai had made sure she learned how to react when things unexpected cropped up. Alicio changed the rules. So Iris changed them further. She slipped between his strikes, bending surprisingly far in the process. Part of her rehabilitation had been stretching and, well.

She found it entertaining enough to push it's limits.

A strike came low, she went lower. Under the blade, using hers to parry his strike upwards as she swung a foot out to catch his and pull him to the ground. It was different from what it should be. But since when did she need to follow what should and shouldn't be?

Finally, Iris found her own smile.

As the two duelists exchanged attacks back and forth, Alicio was impressed by the agility and flexibility of the Jedi. In the parts of his mind that weren't occupied by the fight, he wondered whether he should take up yoga. He was downright rigid, by comparison.

But still, he held his own well enough, until Iris found a way to change the game herself. His view of the future was useless as Iris batted his lightsaber to the sky, and tripped him to the ground. The collision with the soft sand forced a groan from the Count, and knocked the lightsaber from his hand, losing it's blue and black blade as it skipped across the beach.

Despite his utter defeat, Alicio chuckled, laying on the ground. "That was... incredible," the Count finally said, sitting up and trying to comb sand out of his dark hair, the sting of failure ignored in lieu of euphoria for the duel. "I'll have to remember that move."

Iris's blade extinguished as she stepped over to the prone senator. No worry or panic for knocking him off his feat, just the smile she'd found. Bright, excited. What Kai taught her seemed to work better than she assumed it would. Well, no. She broke the 'rules' in an unexpected way. There was little doubt she'd win in that way. She extended a hand to help him up, the disfigured nature of the limb forgotten.

"The more unexpected you can be, the better. That's what a friend of mine taught me anyway."
