A Senator You Say?

Ben's skin crawled at the mention of Teferi, the fact that the man who had killed him was standing directly across from him made his blood boil, but he could not let those emotions bother him at a time like this. He slowly reached for his sword and Ben slowly grabbed his lightsaber, placing it in his hand, knowing full well where this situation was going. They did have the advantage in numbers, and Moridin believed that he was stronger than the both of them, another advantage in Ben's eyes. Overconfidence was the downfall of many Sith before him, never expecting Ben to be nearly as capable as he was, and Selena was a more than capable Jedi Knight. He did not wish for a fight, but there was no reasoning with the man, it was going to happen.

Glancing down at the man who was already half dead, for a moment he was inclined to take the offer, but they could not allow Moridin to leave this planet. Ben would not be able to clear the room fast enough to grab him without being attacked at the same time. Plus, the added worry of having to protect the man while fighting Moridin was not an exciting prospect. "You're outnumbered on a Republic world, this building is surrounded by Jedi and the Republic army, you have no chance of escaping. No one has to die here today." Though it seemed futile, he had to try and talk him down, he was at an extreme disadvantage in Ben's eyes. Try and save the dying Senator. Ben spoke to Selena through the force. I can handle Moridin myself, but we have to do our best to save the man. He was sure that Selena wished to be in on the fight with Ben, but their top priority was the mans safety at this point. Ben was confident in his abilities to fend off Moridin on his own, especially in tight quarters.

"Release the Senator and surrender peacefully and we can be done with all of this." His body itched, he paid close attention to the movements of Moridin, he would not be caught off guard by anything he attempted. He was ready to jump at the first sign of trouble, and if his feelings were right, it was going to be happening soon.

Moridin stared at Ben for a few seconds attempting to figure out if he was serious or not. Half of him wanted to break out laughing while the other half just wanted to slice the mans face off and be done with this whole silly thing. It didn't matter if the entire Military was surrounding the planet and blockading his escape Moridin could still escape in a heartbeat. He had gotten away from Dromund Kaas after Ashin had taken over, and that had been nothing for him. The Dreadlord stood there for a few seconds, and then finally began to speak, though it was clear he was concealing utter amusement in his voice.

"This Senator? Right here?" Moridin said as he pointed to the man sitting in the chair in front of him. There seemed to be utter bewilderment in his voice as if he were surprised that Ben would want the man. "He rigged the election you know, he's not even the real Senator of Byss!"

He yelled it almost at the top of his lungs, as though it were really something that had disturbed him for quite some time. As he did so Moridins left hand began to spark with deep red lightning. The sparks jumped and bounded all over themselves and bounded towards the floor. Moridin simply lifted his hand over the head of the Senator, and then grinned. "Let me punish him for you. I know you Jedi don't really like doing it."

With that Moridin touched the top of the mans head. He seized in pain as the lightning rushed through his body. In almost an instant he seemed to be set ablaze with red sparks. Only a second later Moridin removed his hand from the now Deadmans skull. The Dreadlord looked down at him, and then simply shrugged towards the Jedi as if it couldn't be helped. Then in the next instant he flicked his finger's forward. The lightning from his palm jumped towards the Jedi in a wild furious storm seeking to eradicate them in one quick move.

Selena was not phased by the senator's death. Really, she expected saving him would be impossible, and Ben's request to save him seemed like a waste of time. It would directly move the advantage of numbers because she could not simply get the senator out of the room. The Shadow would have to take him out of the building or at least a few floors down. As much as the loss of life was a bad thing, it was clear that this was ideal for taking down the Sith. It made justice all the more easier to be handed out, and that was already a difficult task. His death helped, and really he likely would have a trial before him anyways. He was probably more thankful to be at peace and one with the Force now than he would have been alive.

The lightning that then targeted them was cause for pause to be sure. It was, to some extent, the king of aggressive darkside powers. However, as a Shadow Selena was versed in ways to deal with the such an attack. Not many knights were gifted with a skillset to deal with it, but she happened to be one such knight. Her finger had already been itching to turn her lightsaber on, so the moment Moridin had shown the intent to use any kind of force lightning her silver blade jumped to life. When the Sith Lord shifted from the dead senator to the pair of Jedi her lightsaber rose to meet the lightning.
