A Place to Drink, and be Merry [Iron Empire Gala](Invitation Required)

Father of Cathar Kaiju
"You need to dress up more often, you look good in a suit."
"No. No I do not."

Thalia was fretting all over my getup that I had on. Very nice brown set of military clothing, all of my awards from the Iron empire were on the coat, with a darker brown tie, and a hat to go with it. I had my hair slicked back with some moose, and combed to look somewhat presentable. However, I couldn't hide my face.

Part of me becoming someone new, to try and make myself someone else, I had to expose myself. I had to open myself up, and I decided that this Iron Gala, would be the first place I would expose myself to the Iron Empire. A place where anyone could see my real face. Not the mask. They would see the "human" behind the mask.

Breathing in, I held my hat in my hand. Looking down at it, I smiled a little as I sat on a bed. Thalia standing before me in a very nice black dress that accented her features, as well as a wrist band that was connected to the end of her dress so she could hold the entire dress train up should it be needed. While the dress was just held onto her tightly around her chest, she wore a small dark blue overcoat that covered her shoulders.

I would say that she did look very nice.

Standing up, I breathed in deeply. Grabbing my hat firmly and placing it upon my head. Adjusting it to be comfortable, and then offered my arm to my apprentice. She wrapped up her arm into mine and we walked out of the room.

"Alright, Now don't embarrass me."
"If anyone is going to be embarrassed, its me. Walking around with a man nobody will know."
"At least I don't have to worry about strange looks... Maybe."

Continuing to walk down the stairs together into the main hall, I met the eyes of many of the members of the Iron Empire. The Gala had yet to be announced. Walking up towards the main stage where the band would be performing, The mic was standing there. Walking up to it, I tapped it gingerly with my knuckle.

"I thank all of you for coming to this Gala tonight. You may dance the night away if you so wish, or we have refreshments and drinks in the adjacent room to your right. Enjoy your night!"

I got a small round of applause from those who were standing there as I made the announcement for the beginning of the Gala.

I just hoped that I could maybe relax for once to maybe enjoy this.

The Iron Empire. They were one of the newest allies to Commenor. [member="Atheus"] had been a great representative for them, as well as a good friend and aid for Kay. She had gone through a lot of trauma during her captivity in the hands of the Sith, and Atheus was helping her to overcome all that. He helped her to hold onto her sanity.

So when the invite came across her desk to come to a gala event on their capital world of Csilla, Kay couldn't turn it down. And with the construction of the Praxeum ongoing, it took some effort for her to get [member="Veiere Arenais"] to join her. In the end, she had to play on his jealousy a bit, because in his mind, there was a long line up of suitors vying for her hand and their engagement hadn't been made official yet. This was a perfect opportunity for him to show that she was his and his alone.

And it worked.

Some time later, and after going through security checks, the two of them walked into the gala, arm in arm. There was very little hiding of her affection for the man that would soon be her husband, her King, her rock. She loved him very much and she wasn't afraid to show it.

Only she could drag him to another one of these scenes, first it had been the First Order's Military Ball, though then he had been a body guard and had no real place to question the one that was trying to warm up to her; now it seemed to be the Iron Empire though admittedly, he wasn't going into this one as empty as he had the first. Of what little he had heard of the Iron Empire, he had found interesting and dare he say it with so little insight, seemed to grow on him the prospect of an alliance with these people. [member="Atheus"], Veiere was well familiar with however, not only for his place in the Vanguard but so too his support in establishing the Knights of Commenor, they'd only worked together in a venture the once yet the two had co-ordinated between one another for the sake of open communication across the galaxy, Veiere having agreed to take entrance into the Vanguard in order to represent Commenor but so too ensure that there were some semblance of voluntary Order across the galactic charts.

He wasn't dressed in his typical attire this time, though he had come armed with his lightsaber buried on the inside of his jacket; his choice of weapon aside he came dressed in official representation of his future role in Kay's life, the most uncomfortable yet modern and well made suit, far tighter around his mid-section than he was used to though not to the condemnation of his appearance, merely not what he would've preferred to wear; he had no doubt come dressed to make the best impression while standing at Kay's side, of whom always seemed to draw attention to herself, in all forms of good and bad.

Public displays of affection didn't come as easily for himself as it did for her; the prospect of romance alone had been discouraged from his life for the first three decades within the Jedi Order, it wasn't until much later that he'd fallen away from the traditionalist state of being and opened himself up with her encouragement, company and admittedly employment. With her arm linked in his however he was a part of something, not something as large or galaxy impacting as the Jedi had been but something far more personal and significant between them. Commenor sat behind them and ahead of them was a wedding that she had taken it upon herself to plan. Force only knew what fresh horrors she planned to unveil in the celebration of the end of his life as he knew it, a private joke he played only on the inside.

"My tie look alright? He muttered under his breath, looking to Kay for reassurance, throwing her something of a frustrated and self-conscious glance, even as a former Jedi, wearing a blasted suit felt completely out of his norm'.

It had been nearly a year since Adron had attended a formal Gala, and it was his first as the Head of his House. As such there was a certain attire he was expect to wear to such events. He wore the traditional black slacks and leather blouse of his house and with it a long black cloak, flowing down to his ebony boots. However, the matching faux collar that fell over his shoulders was a bit much. Not only did Adron see the large fur as tacky he saw it as supremely unnecessary. In the cold comforts of the mountains where he grew up such things were a welcomed luxury, but here they were a hot pain.

As Adron was ushered through the security checks he was relieved of his ceremonial rapier, even though it was more for show than combat he could understand why they would want to confiscate it until his departure.

He made his way into the main chambers for the event and immediately took notice of something. Almost everyone in here seems to be at least ten years older than me. He mused with a rather agitated sigh erupting from him. At events such as this he was often faced with individuals who took his age for a mirror of stupidity or naivety. A thing he would have to deal with for the time being.

Silence reigned over the hall as the host for the evening greeted his guests. Adron looked to the man, listening intently before offering a soft applause to his conclusion. Perhaps it would be a decent night after all.

It had been a while since Aster had last been home, as her training with her master had taken her away from Csilla and into the heart of the Order of the Silver Jedi, Voss - their capitol. However, as life was full of the unexpected, she had departed the planet early, evacuated by her security detail - the Wolfsglaive when Voss became the target of Sith attacks, and though she understood that the unit were only performing their duty in their efforts, she was rather annoyed that they had not given her the chance to assist.

Accompanied by her personal bodyguard Everly, Aster descended the stairs into the main hall dressed in an elegant peach pink gown with floral detailing that gently brushed against the floor with each graceful step she took. "Princess," a couple of people whom she did not recognize greeted her with a nod as she strolled around the hall.

"Hello," she replied with a practiced smile and a nod of her own and continued past them.

To those with little to no intimate knowledge of her, the blonde-haired teenager would have looked to be a well-bred young lady in her element at the gala, however, it was evident to Everly that she was nervous as she brushed a strand of hair behind her ear with a gloved hand. "Do you think I should have asked my handmaiden to help me style my hair into a style than my usual ponytail?" she asked Everly in a barely audible tone.

"No, you look lovely," the woman replied just as softly.

"Thank you," Aster smiled at Everly for the first time since her return to Csilla, and smiled delicately as she began to greet the guests who had arrived.

Emeline was not a fan of these large, formal events. Her parents were very involved in the local politics back on Alsakan, and as such, she remembered these painfully boring galas and dances. Being dressed up and shown off the to height of society was never something she was comfortable with, especially due to her being an only child. Still, the Iron Empire was hosting this event, and if she did not show up, it would cast her as a reject at best. Regardless of her reasoning for going, Emeline was just excited to see who brought who and what they were wearing. She may of been more adventurous then other women, but she still enjoyed dress-up from time to time.

Wearing a white, flowing dress regaled with jewelry, Emeline entered the hall after being checked at security. Scanning the hall for fellow legionnaires or people she knew, she spotted someone far better. Moving through the small crowds, she greeted those that recognized her. Eventually able to get to Adron's side, she tapped him on the shoulder lightly. With a small curtsy, she bowed and greeted the count of Serenno. "Lord Malvern." She smiled as she came back up, happy to see her friend here. Perhaps tonight would be a good night after all.

Apparently, at least according to Savitor's mother, you had to demonstrate allegience to larger groups actively. You couldn't just say you were allied to some one apparently you also had to show it. The only time Savitor remembered ever getting dressed up was when he had been a kid and attended some big buissness meeting with his parents. The fragging clothes had been annoying then and were even more annoying now, according to his mother they would help make a good first impression. According to Savitor they were completely unessacery and extremely uncomfortable. They had compromised and as such Savitor was wearing a dress uniform, instead of armor like he had wanted or super fancy clothes like his mother had wanted. At least that was what his mother thought. He was actually wearing a lighter version of his armor, but no helmet. Just another three months and he would come of age according to his families traditions and he could act more freely. It seemed cruel, but Savitor almost couldn't wait for his mother to need to live at a nursing home. Almost. The main problem was that she was trying to controll every part of Savitor's life and it was annoying.

He was waved through by the guards. Though Savitor was sure they were watching him, but shook off the moment of paranoia when he entered the hall just in time for [member="Atheus"]'s speech. He knew noone here, so Savitor knew he would either be extremely bored at the gala, or he would make some new friends.

Kay smiled as [member="Veiere Arenais"] asked her about his look. She tilted her head to the side a bit as if she were examining him like a piece of art. "The tie gives you more of a businessman look...." With gentle hands she undid the knot and slipped his tie off, then proceeded to undo two of the buttons of his collared shirt. Then she tucked his tie into her purse. "...There. Now you don't have anything to constrain you."

She hooked her arm in his again and walked with him further inside. [member="Atheus"] was just finishing his little speech. Kay offered him a small wave, noting his choice of attire. Not to mention the fact that he wasn't wearing his mask. That was very brave of him. She still had her contacts in and would wear them until pretty much all of the evidence of corruption in them was gone. Or until she was comfortable with letting her secret out, whichever came first. She hoped for the former.

Kay didn't recognize anyone else in attendance, but she greeted everyone that made eye contact with her with a smile. Perhaps in a moment she'd introduce herself. But first she wanted to get to know the layout of the venue.

Entering the gala's hall, Talos swept through the open door like a breeze through the leaves. He'd been invited, but his arm twisted to attend. He did what he could to keep the Echoes at bay. His hood drawn, staff in hand, he walked to the nearest drink. Grabbing a glass of champagne he made his way to an empty table and sat to drink. Leaning his staff against a chair, he looked on from under his hood, watching. Reaching out through the Force and reading minds that passed by.

He wasn't easily entered into social networking, so he resigned to be a bystander for now....

He stood leaning against the wall, a drink in his hard swirled around the glass as his mind was elsewhere. In a short space of time, so much had happened between here on Csilla and to Midvinter, it was only now he could allow his mind to think on things. Théo had returned to the Iron Empire only a few days ago after meeting up with [member="Sorel Crieff"] and spending some much needed time with her and being able to enjoy her company once more, he decided that he would allow his thoughts to drift back there for in her presences there is only calm, a soft quietness he needed now.

Yet, not even Sorel could rid him of the feeling he was being choked. His spare hand raised and tugged at his collar the tie too tight and uncomfortable and he regretted his decision on attire. As he did so however, he caught sight of Lady Aster entering the room in her long flowing gown and suddenly he felt under-dressed not that this would worry Théo too much, after all events like these are mostly for the ladies to show off their beauty.

He put his glass down on a ledge abandoning it to go greet her. On approach, Théo bowed at the waist, his hands placed behind his back as he stood and smiled. "Good evening Lady Aster .. you look marvelous. May I escort you into the room?". With arm raised and bent at the elbow, Théo offered her his arm to take if the Lady deemed it worthy.

It was not until Adron was joined by Emeline that his expression turned from bored to happy. As he took note of the beautiful white dress she had dawned for the evening he could not help but offer a kind smile to the woman. She bent down into a curtsy, as was expected, in return the young Count took her hand into his while respectfully bowing to her. "Emeline...It's good to see you again."

Adron had originally intended to invite Emeline to the Gala as her escort, but had worried that her duties as a legionnaire would interfere. "Good to see someone here who won't bore me to death." He muttered, flashing a playful smile at the woman before holding his arm out to her, a gesture of escort. "Join me for something to drink? And if no one has taken the honor, allow me to escort you for the night? I'd hate to see you fall to boredom." He asked, his mood lightened by her presence.

"Thank you," Aster blushed a little, unused to receiving compliments from the opposite gender, and curtsied. "Uh... sure..." she replied as she awkwardly took Theo's arm not wanting to cause the young man any offense by rejecting it for a reason as petty as a simple case of nerves. He was, after all, son of the former Master and Grand Master of the Silver Jedi.

How is one to act around the opposite gender? She wondered nervously and softly bit her lip. Although she had tried it conceal it, it was glaringly obvious she was unused to interacting with members of the obvious gender in a social setting.

"So...ah...umm...Iron Empire...ah... What do you think of the Silver Je- I mean, the Ion- Iron Empire so far?" Aster asked clumsily, stumbling over her words as she waited for Theo to lead her into the room.

I should have worn my hair down, she thought as her face grew warm as it flushed a bright red, extending to her ears. Embarrassed at her feeble attempt at conversation, Aster bit her lip and turned her head away from the young man.

Stop it, she frowned. Act like you are worthy of the Baelor name and stop making a fool of yourself! She reprimanded herself sternly and forced a practiced smile then glanced at her escort's face once more, her heart racing as she did so.

Having spent well over a year secluded on Dac as Silver liason to the Mon Calamari government, it was safe to say Nina yearned for some proper socialising. Add to the fact that she had during her time there developed a means for her to voice her thoughts without the need to intrude upon people's minds, and you have a young woman eager to test it out to the fullest extent. She had first unveiled the device and its function to her family shortly before the birth of her littlest brother and was relieved that it actually worked as intended.

That being said, Nina could never shake the sense of unease she felt in large gatherings of people - especially when they were mostly people she didn't know. She had taken to wearing something both elegant and practical, for she knew her being there would represent the Silver Jedi and wished to look the part without resorting to plain old robes. That was not to say she had been sent there by anyone - she was very much there of her own volition!

Her Jedi weapon, Sunrise, had to be left behind due to no-weapons-allowed, and she felt very much naked without it on her person. Upon entering the main hall where the festivities had only just begun, considering she managed to catch the last few words of [member="Atheus"]' little speech. As the room applauded, Nina joined in not really knowing the reason why but figured it best not to look like the odd one out by withholding her applause. Then her eyes began darting around the room, finding a precious few faces she'd at the very least heard about.

She caught a glimpse of [member="Théodred Heavenshield"] leaning against the far wall in his usual laid back manner and attempt to grab his attention by waving at him, but he did not see her. Instead he offered his company to another, a young blonde woman wearing the most beautiful pink dress she'd ever seen. Rather than make a fuss about it Nina smiled at her brother's enjoyment and decided to find a partner of her own in this veritable sea of strangers.

Sitting alone off to the side, Talos watched the crowd grow and begin to mingle. He felt an overwhelming amount of Force Users, as if only they had responded to the EMpire's invitation.

We should just leave...We don't belong...Our place is on the battlefield... Three Echoes slipped out from his control and were now floating about, talking out loud.

Quiet, someone will hear Us... Talos retorted. Swatting at the ghosts, they simply evaded and swirled around, taunting him.

Enraged, he quickly snapped out his hand and gripped one. Talos squeezed his hand, crushing the ghost until it popped and returned to his body.

That was unnecessary...We were trying to have fun... The other two cried.

Bato Golden hadn't spent much time at galas. Parties sure, but rarely at occasions so formal, and the actor made a habit of avoiding anything too fancy. And with the impressively large glass chandelier hanging from the ceiling, this qualified as too fancy. Bato walked along the outside of the dancing room and towards the dining area, doing his best to mask his slight unease. When he scanned the room, he couldn't see many people he could recognize. It was probably nothing to worry about, he figured. Odds are, someone here knew him.

At least he was dressed for the occasion. He was wearing a well tailored, if mostly ordinary suit for the most part, but the embellishments on the back and cuffs afforded him some style. In addition, he had even managed to find his formal sunglasses, so that was a pleasant surprise. All in all, he liked his outfit. It made him look like a spy.

Bato returned to the central room with a glass of something expensive and hard to pronounce, and maneuvered his way past crowded tables and chatting couples to a relatively less busy section of the main hall. The actor found himself standing next to a white haired woman he was sure he hadn't met before. Not that it would deter him. If there was anything Bato loathed, it was silence.

He turned towards [member="Nina Heavenshield"] and gave an award winning smile. "So, you enjoying the party so far?"

Caelag hated to be parted from her rifle. It really was the only love of her life she had left to count on, that and her usual strings of duties. But yet again she found herself almost blackmailed into attending a military ball, or more accurately a gala in this case. The only thing her superiors weren't doing was holding her at gunpoint to attend something besides a mission, hell even the time she'd spent off duty had been on a mission, or preparing for one. The woman worked like she was possessed, without anything else in her life to fill a void.

And here she was, in her military formal dress uniform, plus her usual purple cloak, calmly walking through the assembled people. Her short brown hair wasn't being covered by the hood today, and had been done all nice and professional. Fresh bandages covered her 'eyes', and save for the cloak combined with military uniform adorned with a handful of medals, she looked unassuming. Perfect for the night... she hoped.

She let out a small sighed as she listened to the speech from [member="Atheus"], short as it was, and proceeded to follow his advice and find 'refreshments'. And by that of course, she meant however many drinks she dared take before her vision wavered. She noted the presence of several others, though only recognized [member="Bato Golden"], [member="Aster Rose Baelor"], and [member="Théodred Heavenshield"] out of the bunch. Not that she would speak much with them, one was an actor she had little concern for, one was far above her, and the third likely wanted to teach her more than anything else. That was all fine and good, and she'd do whatever duties she held for the group that evening.

But seeing as she was unimportant entirely, she found her way to the drinks, and took a very generously sized drink for herself. No point in taking her time after all...

His intentions had been honourable. It would never do to have a Lady of high importance enter the Gala room alone especially the niece of the Emperor but by all accounts of her emotional state, this actions had made the situation awkward .. for both of them. Théo is not exactly experienced with the inner workings of woman, their thoughts and actions beyond his understanding as it is for most men .. he was no different. Yet he would not make her feel more uncomfortable by outwardly noticing her reactions and so he pretended not to notice her nervousness. "My experience here with the Iron Empire different from life as Jedi, but both factions are similar in many ways".

As she turned to face him again, her smile seemed underpinned with fear? he could not be sure of it. "err .. How .. how do you find the Jedi on Voss?", it was a genuine question and he has many friends there and family of course and his allegiance to them had not been removed or replaced. His free hand reached for the back of his neck to rub awkwardly hoping that his question might ease her mind. "Will the Emperor be attending tonight?".

Théo and Lady Aster had come to a stop in the center of the room. He, unsure of where she would like to go after all it was too early to be seated for dinning, the lady would sit at the high table. Out of the corner of his eye he caught sight of a passing waiter, "Would you care for a drink?", he asked as his eyes followed the back of the waiter walking toward a very familiar person in the room. His sister Nina, which he would hope to find later in the evening.

Savitor would have tgought there would have been more women than men at the gala, but it seemed the opposite was true. And many were much older than he was, so he looked for anyone who seemed to be about his age and decided to go talk to them, unless they were otherwise preoccupied. He hoped it was a male, Savitor had never, ever had much contact with anyone of the opposite gender except for family. But, they didn't really count, exchanges between family were much less awkward than between strangers or really anyone else. Normally. As it was however, the first person near his age that he saw was his fellow member of the Vanguard, @Theodred Heavenshield, but he seemed busy talking with [member="Aster Rose Baelor"]. The second person he saw was [member="Nina Heavenshield"], [Just my luck] he sighed, [It's a girl.] Nevertheless he walked over to her, he almost walked into [member="Bato Golden"], though he thought the man was trying to act, or at least look, like a spy. It would have made Savitor laugh had he not almost had a heart attack from surprise. He was about to speak, when the man began talking. Savitor had a slightly mischievous idea as he was walking away, just as the man finished speaking, "The food is good at least, how is it going for you two, are you a couple?" This party might actually be fun.

Father of Cathar Kaiju
Many of those showed up were well known to me. However, it may be strange to actually see my face rather than the man with the mask, or dressed in battered knightly armor. I breathed in as I stepped down from the main stage with many entering the main lobby where the band began to play smooth music for others to dance too. Thalia rubbed my arm a little as she then separated from me to dance with one of the other soldiers who she had some form of an attraction to.

I nodded her off and drew myself over towards Lady Kay, and her soon to be husband Veiere. Walking up to greet the both of them. They were people who I specifically invited as they were my friends, and allies. Not just as people of Commenor, but with my group of Vanguard.

"Thank you both for coming. I am glad to see faces other than the Iron Empire."

I adjusted my tie as I spoke to them. Loosening it a little to not be so tight around my neckline. I then reached out and gave a formal handshake to Veiere.

"We have not spoken much with both of our jobs taking precident over simply talking. So I would also like to thank you for aiding me on Safe Haven, as well as thanking you for allowing me to aid with the Knights of the Commenor people."

I also silently thanked him for not thinking I was trying to steal his wife out from under him as we were helping each other overcome our past, as well as learn how to become better people from what has happened. I am sure that Kay would be happy to see me without my mask, but I would leave that to her to bring up if she so choose to.

"Anyways, Welcome to the Iron Empire Gala, and enjoy your time here."

Kay found herself momentarily distracted by [member="Talos Rygat"] as he sat there, seemingly talking to herself. Maybe he had too much to drink already? Or maybe he got into some spice? It was hard to say at the moment.

She bowed her head and smiled to [member="Atheus"] as he approached. "Thank you for inviting us. It's nice to get away from the every day." Kay noticed that he wasn't wearing his mask, yet she wasn't going to put him on the spot about it either. That'll be something to ask about later in private. Her contacts were in of course. She had her secret to maintain, afterall.

Kay looked to [member="Veiere Arenais"] as the three of them chatted. There was no need for her to drag him to dance or anything yet. Besides, she would probably end up stepping on his toes anyways.
