Gavin scanned up and down the street. He felt something. A darkness that clawed at the back of his brain, urging him to run. Unfortunately for Gavin, he's never been much of a runner.
He set out down the street, passing by the various shops until he found a red cloth hanging from a window. He took the alley, slinking into the shadows. Someone was following him, but who? He made sure he got into the city clean, doubling back along his route. No, this was a new tail, perhaps someone from the Cantina?
He took a deep breath, gripping the hilt of his blade. He took another deep breath, then waited. 15 seconds pass. 30. 90. 200. He exhaled deeply. He was paranoid. He exited the alley with his hood up, walking back towards the Cantina.
He heard the stamping of feet before he felt the cold steel pierce his shoulder. Three sets of legs rushed past him. One to distract him, another to knock into him, the third to sink a dagger into his shoulder blade.
But he was ready. The first took an elbow to the nose, the second, tripped by an outstretched leg, the third... The third tasted his blade.
Gavin drew just as the blade stuck into his back. It left his sheath with explosive power, cutting a wide arc in front of him. The attacker was caught at the midsection, splitting open as the vibroblade sliced into the man's skin.
The second man drew his dagger, tossing it back and forth between his hands. Gavin wasn't ready for a drawn out fight, not here, not with so many innocent bystanders. The man lunged at him, aiming for the gut. Gavin reacted quickly, smacking the attacker's hand down, countering by cutting it off. The man fell in pain, rolling around in the dirt, bleeding profusely.
By this point, the crowd had scattered, people running down the street in terror, screaming.
Gavin could barely make out the dark shape of the first man against the waves of people fleeing from the scene. He sheathed his blade, reaching behind him, pulling the blade out with a stiff grunt. He would need to get his cybernetics repaired... Again. Tossing the blade into the sand, he took off after the man, determined to find out why he had to cut down two young street rats on his week off.
