Private A Not So Friendly Spar

After her lack of defence from his previous attack, his saber being parried came as quite the surprise. He was caught completely off guard by this, his saber being knocked up far higher than she probably planned it to have, and almost loosing his balance. "Oh, wow." He muttered, more to himself than anything.

Orson wasn't entirely sure if there were any rules to spars, but he assumed it was sort of anything goes as long as he didn't hit too hard. His left foot swept across the floor towards her ankle.

Ha! It worked! She grinned wide as she brought her blade back down and- Oh. Right. Defense. That's all she was really taught at this point. Her brow furrowed as she fell back to the defensive posture, waiting for his next strike. Only to find the ground rushing back up towards her. Maran practically yelped as she hit the floor, glaring up at Orson a moment later. "Ow. Jerk."

Orson couldn't help but grin as he saw Maran fall down. Truly a great success, and as she hadn't complained too much, it was probably alright. He stepped forward, a new found confidence in his step, looking down at her. However, he hadn't really expected to be so brutally insulted and glared at after, what he thought, was a good move on his half. "That's rude." He frowned, returning her glare. He made no further move at the time being, his saber hung idly by his side, which left him awfully open to any kind of attack.

"You're the one that tripped me!"

She grumbled aloud as she pushed herself to her feet. Shook out the jitters in her hands. It made sense. Combat when life was on the line meant using what they could to win, right? So kicking was fine. Then.. Maran took a breath before focusing on Orson. Really focusing. She still couldn't do much with the Force, but she could upset the balance in people's ears. The spinning, dizzy sensation she could make people feel was because of that, as she learned.

So make him dizzy. Maran lifted her saber, nodding once.

"It's on now."

Orson backed away she stood back up. "Yeah, but I thought kicking was fine."

He once again raised his saber back up, settling back into a defensive stance, before looking at her somewhat confusedly. In his eyes, it'd be on for quite a while now, but maybe she had been holding back or something up until now. He remained rooted to the spot, more alert than he had been earlier, waiting out her movements.

However, after a few moments, he once again began to look confused and slightly concerned, blinking heavily, as if he was trying to blink something away. It was a strange dizzying sensation that had suddenly washed over him, and he couldn't quite place what was causing it. Maybe he was getting ill or something? It wasn't impossible, but he doubted it. While he was remaining upright and wasn't swaying, his base was certainly weaker and he was concerned about moving quickly, so he remained on the spot, instead waiting for her to make a move.

She didn't move. Her eyes were moving, but she didn't dare move from her spot. There wasn't any sign she could see that he was under the influence of her ability. And, well. She wasn't taught how to use a lightsaber offensively. Jasper Kai'el Jasper Kai'el wanted her to learn defense first. She kept her blade level, stared. Watched. Waited.

"You uh.. You feelin' okay?"

She couldn't just assume not. Not if she wanted to actually beat him.

He probably wasn't fine in all honesty, but based off his experience with her so far, he wasn't exactly sure that her being concerned was quite.. On brand for her. Regardless, he did hesitate a few moments before eventually saying "Yeah, I'm fine.. Just attack me." He continued to stand still for a few moments. Patience was a virtue after all, and if he was fighting, he would be patient.

About five seconds later, Orson stepped forwards, tired of waiting. While he didn't fall or anything, he was noticeably off balance and swayed as he stepped forwards, once again coming to a sudden halt, his eyes widened in surprise.

"You attack me." The ever constant issue of two Jedi fighting. They often waited for the other to strike first. She waited, and waited, and waited. And right when she was getting fed up with waiting, he seemed to do the same. Came in, though seemed to trip. A far too smug expression took over Maran's face as she took the opportunity. Stepped forward. And brought her blade down at him.

This wasn't ideal. Far from it in fact. He didn't have confidence in moving out of the attacks path, and then being able to counter attack while remaining on his feet. Her smug look was also slightly off putting, as he couldn't think of any real reason for her to seem smug about him falling, other than if she was somehow behind it.

Luckily he was more than aware of them only being training sabers, so he leant his head to the side slightly, and pushed it right shoulder forward so that Marans' saber smashed down onto it. He bit down onto his tongue slighlty so that he wouldn't visibly have to great of a reaction, despite it hurting far more than he had expected it to, and his right arm would probably be sore for a couple of days afterwards. However, he wasn't going to give her the satisfaction of showing than, and instead simply raised this saber up, preparing for the next attack.
