Jonyna smiled at that. She knew what it was like to bond with your weapons, even if it did seem strange to some. At least, that's what she assumed he meant.

"You did pretty good all things considered. I'd be curious to see how to do with Seszil as well. It took Ko Vuto Ko Vuto a few tries to get that drill down, so don't beat yourself up too much. You want to take a break? I was gonna call Rayia Si Rayia Si and Ko back for some food."

She considered the boy's fighting style. Maybe making him a new weapon wouldn't be a bad idea. She did have the longsword she had made still around. She wondered if he could lift up, as it had originally been made for someone a bit taller than him. The thing was nearly as big as he was. Still, it could be a good fit for him. Or maybe something custom? A blaster? She remembered Kahlil Noble Kahlil Noble had a blaster of his own, never seen him use it, but she knew he carried it on him around the temple. She could modify something of her own make for the boy...

Things for later. For now, food.

"Seszil would defend me on their own. It'd probably be like cheating." Was what Aris figured, at least. The idea of the lesson eas for him to defend himself, right? He mulled on it for a moment longer before shrugging it off and nodding. Food sounded good. He'd- There was a pause as he blinked in thought. He followed his own specific diet. That wasn't going to be threatened, right?

No. No Jonyna clearly had focus on her own diet. She was a Jedi knight! Aris nodded once at the thought. "We can take a break. I should make sure Seszil is settling in."

"High protein, low to now fat and sugar. I've already had my daily amount of those." Aris was, as ever, very serious about his dieting. It was important for him to make sure he stayed on track, so at her question there was no hesitation. He smiled at least before he did head back to his room to check on Seszil. The sword was sleeping as always.

"You're going to have to wake up soon. Sorry, friend." Aris smiled softly as he patted the hilt before again looking over the room.

This was going to be a second home, wasn't it?

High protein?

...Steak.

She wasn't always keen to share them, as they were a treat for her most of the time, but...

She wanted to impress. After putting out a call for the two other occupants of the Reaper, she started up the burners and got out a set of five steaks, bantha meat that had been saving. The sound of steak meeting pan filled the kitchen, and the smell of searing meat filled the air as Jonyna got out a myriad of spices.

She hoped the other two would be back soon.

Aris would head back down with his sword this time! Floating beside him, on it's own. Seszil was very much awake now. The blade floated beside Jonyna, seeming to bow as best a sword could. "Thank you for having us aboard, Knight Si."

They floated back towards Aris, hovering beside the boy as he sat at the table and smiled. "Steak smells good."

Ko heard the call from within his own climate controlled room. Sitting at his desk he held up his mask and goggles. Examining the vital piece of equipment through the Force. The blind Kel Dor imagined that he had to be clean now, he’d tried to be thorough but it was hard to tell when he couldn’t even look at it.

Gently he slotted the mask and goggles and affixed the form fitting gear to his face. Able to sense the cleaning products he used on it. The Kel Dor threw a short sleeved shirt on before stepping to his door. Pressing some keys onto his datapad to acclimate the room to the atmospheric conditions of the rest of the ship. After it was over he walked out of his room and into the kitching.

“Good afternoon… or evening, Master Si, and hello to you too as well Mister Noble.” Ko was finding now that there were enough Nobles that he’d need to start properly distinguishing them in his mind. “It sounds like you are preparing another stake.” Ko commented as he reached into the fridge to pull out a container. Grabbing a pot he emptied the contents of the container into it, a creamy red fluid poured out before he maneuvered around Jonyna to set it on a gentle simmer on the stove. Tomato soup that Ko had prepared earlier, a favorite meal of his.

After which he sat at the table along with Aris. “So anything exciting with you two today?”

Jonyna smiled as she flipped the steak with a deft flick of her wrist. "I just put him through the Remote training we did. There's a fruit smoothie I made for you earlier in the fridge as well if you want it. Right next to the eggs."

With Ko now a knight, she welcomed the idea of an extra hand in training Aris. The two were familiar at least, and having someone to assist in training was something she hoped with get both of them experience, for whenever Ko took on his first padawan.

"Thank you for having us aboard, Knight Si."
Oh.

The sword talks.

Neat!

"You're happily welcome, Seszil. I'll need to introduce you to my swords when we get the chance to sit down."

"It was frustrating to be unable to strike back."

Aris sighed just a little, in an unspoken annoyance at least. As much as his unusually blank expression could express. Emotion was still something he had a harder time expressing. He did raise a brow to Jonyna as she mentioned Sezil meeting her swords. Like, actual surprise that even his difficult to read expressions were very clear on. "You.. Have talking swords too?"

Hearing Aris’s response Ko let out an amused chuckle. “That’s part of the process. It’s more of an endurance test. But I’m sure you’ll get the hang of it like I did.” Once Ko started getting good at seeing through The Force it actually became a bit easier for him. Being able to perceive the remotes in a more complete field of view. He didn’t know that much about the Noble boy. Maybe having a shared mentor could help him overcome the gaps in his knowledge. Ko also took mental note of what Jonyna said about a smoothie she’d made for him too. He’d need to thank her for that.

“Yeah you have talking swords?” Ko asked along with Aris. “I guess they were never really had anything to say around me.” The Kel Dor remarked as he sat back in his chair.

"Sort of. Ko, you've seen how I use my Familiars, yeah? It's what I was going to try and teach you earlier Aris. Your father taught me it."

She took a moment to turn the heat on the burner low, as she pulled a saber off her belt. The hilt looked similar to that of an atrisian blade, but Jonyna seemed to have fabricated it as such. Placing it on the table, she smiled as two owl spirits burst from it, and landed on either one of her shoulders. "You connect with your crystals in a way that allows them to manifest. I had hoped to teach you it to help you along your journey as a blademaster."

xiqfVVX.png

Aris's expression settled then as he nodded. Right, familiars. Those were a thing his father used before. "It seems like it would be helpful, but.. I don't have the ability to bond with anything like that." He couldn't feel the Force, after all. Though it was getting more and more obvious that he -could- in some way shape or form. He'd figure it out. Right now, though, he glanced up to Seszil, giving the blade a smile.

It wasn't the same, but, that was probably for the best.

Hmmmm...

"Ko, you have that ability that Jasper taught you, yeah? Soft to Solid? Maybe you could teach Aris that. It would be a start. You'll need to take a paddie someday too bud."

She could always run more drills with Aris, but Jonyna didn't have a lot of internal force abilities. Still, she'd help him. Even if they were a bit mismatched with abilities, she knew she could train the boy in swordsmithing and lightsaber construction, as well as combat.

She took a moment to turn off the burners, and offer the boy a steak. "Eat up, by the way." She smiled, picking a steak up with the Force and plopping it down on a plate for Aris.

She could do this. Training was something she was good at. Maybe a trip to Cathar, or New Cov. Spend a few weeks in the jungle and hone his senses. If he couldn't sense through the Force like others, she could hone his hearing, his sense of smell. Things that didn't require the Force...

Ko perked up when Jonyna asked him about soft to solid. “Huh, you’re right I could do that.” The Kel Dor replied as he thought for a bit. Recalling something that Valery once told him prior…

She then turned back to Ko, and listened to what he had to say. Not surprisingly, he already had quite a good idea about what it was, and shared her concerns about abilities with explosive capacity. "It's possible that you simply have an affinity for this, over something like Pyrokinesis. My oldest son can't use Telekinesis, no matter how hard he tries, while my daughter is very proficient at it for her age."

Ko pondered if Aris had similar limitations with The Force as Jasper. If that was true then Soft to Solid might be a good ability for Aris to learn, and that he might be in a uniquely good position to teach the padawan something else. He then turned to look over at the teen enjoying his steak. “If you wanted I could teach you Soft to Solid. I’m not sure how many other Jedi are actually familiar with the technique. Since it has its origins from a different order of Force Adepts.”

With that said Ko stood up from the table and headed back over to the stove where his soup was beginning to bubble some on the low heat. “Keep in mind though I’m no master with the ability, but it’s saved my skin more than once. Us Kel Dor aren’t known for their durability.” Ko said over his shoulder. In fact the species was rather fragile, even without the glaring and exploitable weakness of needing an antiox mask.

Jonyna looked to the two with a hint of pride. Ko was an accomplished knight at this point, and she trusted him to teach Aris the technique, even if it meant Jonyna didn't have a direct hand in it. She could teach Aris other things. "You two up to a trip to Cathar then? The temple is getting to the point where it's ready."

xiqfVVX.png

"If it's something I can learn, I'd like to. Mom has taught me a bit on how to toughen my body so I can strike things. And I can heat myself up a bit. I've learned I can block lightsabers if I'm focused on it."

Right, it'd be good for him to explain what he could do, to help planning, right? He had a feeling that's what Jonyna was mulling over at least. He took another bite of the steak, humming his delight despite the straight, calm expression he carried with it.

"Cathar? I've never been."

Eventually, the lingering smell of steak lured out one very tired Felacatian. Rubbing at her eyes, Rayia nearly left her feet as she drifted along towards the table on autopilot. As part of her training, Rayia had been trying to find a place of calm within herself. It... hadn't gone well. As she had closed her eyes and knelt in the center of her room, she had become aware of an odd prickling sensation creeping up her neck. It was the beast within, resisting the lull of stillness and ever looking to shed the yoke and chains that kept it slumbering.

What Rayia had prepared for could be likened to sitting within or atop of a shallow pool, in preparation for a deeper delve into unknown fathoms that lay below. What had happened instead drew Rayia's consciousness deep within the pitch black ocean of her core. A place where everything was made of violent flashes of instinct and imagery. Where her ears were drowned with the grumbling vibrations of subtle purrs and deafening roars. Where her eyes were blinded by a gloom that pressed in on her whilst simultaneously buoying her up. No light, no sound, just thrashing in the darkness.

Aris' arrival broke the spell. The vibrations of his movements drawing nearer causing her tail to bristle and a surge like lightning to course through her spine until it reached her brain. Waking with a start, Rayia turned tired eyes to the mirror in her room. Her normally smooth coat was frazzled, and her ears stood at high alert. 'I can't go out like this. Not before the Noble's son,' she thought to herself. Spending a few minutes in the refresher, Rayia eventually just gave up on trying to hide the sullen bags under her eyes.

"Hi, Aris." She whispered softly, grabbing one of the plates that still had a steak on it.

"Good Morning Rayia, Daughter of Mine." Jonyna smiled. "Aris will be joining us on the Reaper. His room is the closest on the left." She nodded, looking to Aris with a smile. "Cathar is where I grew up. You've been to New Cov, yeah? It's a lot like that, but the north and south are savannah, while the equator is more jungle. I figured we could do some training there. Teach you some survival training. Maybe the basics of Tree-surfing."

Rayia paused in her mechanical chewing of her breakfast to turn towards Jonyna at the greeting. Laying her knife and fork back down onto the table, she managed to purr out something halfway content towards her adoptive mother despite her tiredness. “Good morning, mom.”

It was the least she could do, given that Jonyna could see that her training was fruitless this evening, at least. While she was happy, failure now carried the oozing pain of two separate disappointments. Failing her mentor, and her mother.

Jonyna’s next statement brought some color back into Rayia’s cheeks though. Her ears bounced to full attention as she turned her attention to Aris. “Oh, that’s amazing! I’m sure you’ll like it here, Aris. Let me know if there’s anything I can do to help!” The Felacatian babbled before managing to silence herself.

It was then that she remembered who she was talking to. And that the Reaper didn’t need any more incentive to appear as irrepressible. Suppressing some of her enthusiasm, Rayia managed to affect a more composed appearance. Gently guiding some stray locks of hair away from her face, she speaks much more reservedly. “I mean, I hope you enjoy living with us. And I’m grateful to have a fellow padawan to train with…”

She trailed off, realizing that Jonyna hadn’t explained if this change was happening now or in the future. “Assuming you have already gotten the okay to stay with us?” Rayia asked, directing her question towards the young teen across from her.
