Jaa Kilian
Mercenary Captain
Location: Conference Room, The Brawler, Orbit of Bonadan.
Equipment: SE-14r Light Repeating Blaster, Plain Officers Fatigues, Wrist Comm Link, Level 4 Code Cylinders.
Objective: Protection and Escort of Mysterious Package to Bandomeer.
Once upon a time, the triangular form of a Star Destroyer would have been cause for panic and terror on almost any planet that might see one in their orbit. For good reason, the ancient ships had been designed far more for terror than for applicability in terms of combat. Times change and so do perceptions, Star Destroyers are as banal as ships come - though that is hardly helped by the fact that most every manufacturer has some claimed "Star Destroyer" in thier repertoire.
Jaa Kilian, Captain of the Brawler, cared little for how his ship was or was not perceived. For years, he had owned a Star Destroyer - albeit one on the smaller and more practical side - and no one had ever shuddered in terror at the sight of him... Perhaps it was for the best, terrified people hardly did good business.
Deep in the featureless, grey halls of the ancient Star Destroyer, Jaa sat with a sour expression. His mood could best be described as thunderous, but he could hardly find someone to blame beyond himself. The "Marines" of the Brawler, a tattered band of Mercenary companies either hired or absorbed by the BMC (Brawler Mercenary Company), were effective frontline soldiers and guards, but experts of security and understanding the mind of the saboteur they were not. It had been a very long time since Jaa had been forced to rely upon an outside contractor for a job, but the "package" was worth more than the entire Brawler and her occupants. This would be the biggest payout in three years, and in a galaxy ever filling with enterprising mercenaries and boneheads, that mattered.
So, with a great hit to his ego, that was how Jaa found himself hiring one

. To be completely honest, Jaa had never heard of the man before today, but he came with tentative recommendations from the Guild and was known for his trustworthiness (some men might call it naivety, but Jaa was hardly one to judge). Naturally, this did not mean the ageing Captain had any intention of telling his fellow mercenary about the true nature of their cargo, only the luxury goods were reported publicly.
"It's for the best," Jaa had explained to his second-mate, "Trustworthy or not, I am not taking unnecessary risks."
"Thank you for arriving so promptly," Jaa's tone did not belay thanks, more of an exhausted acceptance of the present circumstances, "We leave in thirty minutes, so I shall attempt to make this brief."
Jaa rose his eyes from the featureless helmet of the other mercenary and allowed his gaze to sweep to the projected image behind him. It was schematics of the Brawler, one image being from the top and the other from the port beam. Crisscrossing hallways, entry points, and air ducts were laid bare for all to see, showcasing a jungle of featureless metal. It had taken many years for Jaa to learn how to properly read the damn things, old Imperials even made the maps as bland and uninteresting as possible.
"As you've likely read in your briefing, our cargo is several luxury goods requested and paid in advance by a number of wealthier denizens of Bandomeer. The cargo is located here," With a pointing apparatus located next to his chair, Jaa indicated to the storage bay of the ship on both schematics, "There are only two ways into the storage bay, discounting cutting your way in. One, through the central tram that connects that end of the ship to the other. The second is through the air ducts, but we'll get back to that."
Jaa rose from his seat at that, popping his back with a wince before approaching the projection. With a metallic pen, he marked the schematics in red.
"The trams will be shut down for the duration of our trip and will be locked to Level 3 access and above. For reference, that is me, my first and second mates, the head of security, and the head engineer. There shouldn't be a reason for them to be activated, but in the event the need arises, approach me or one of those aforementioned men," Jaa explained, "Security for the cargo is separated into three groups. Team Aurek will be defending both ends of the tram system. Half of their fireteam is located at the end, the other half split between these two rooms flanking the start."
Red circles surrounded the two rooms in question, serving as auxiliary storage prior to the operation. They were cramped, had poor air conditioning, and were filled with annoyed mercs, but they were paid well so they could suffer in silence for a few days. The pen rapidly shifted to blue, allowing Jaa to continue.
"Fireteam Besh will be located here, in the barracks on the same deck as the cargo. In the unlikely event that Aurek is wiped out, Besh will move to secure the cargo or engage the stowaway. Lastly, Cresh," Who were marked in yellow, "Will be in the barracks on level two, nearest to the security office. In the event of an attack, they are to lock down the escape pods, hangar bay, and find any other point-of-entry that might have been used. From security, they will activate the ship's automatic defence systems. You have already been registered, so don't worry about an auto turret bifurcating you while walking down the hall. Autoturrets are also located in the ventilation systems nearest to the cargo, and in the cargo hold itself. They are activated either by the central system or by motion sensors located in the ducts themselves."
Jaa folded his hands behind his back, still holding the prodding stick he had used for his little presentation.
"With my Letter of Marque... legally acquired from the Empire, we won't need to make many stops in their space. Unfortunately, the government of Cadomai does not swear their undying servitude to Dromund Kaas, and as such will stop, search, and tax anything hurtling through their space ports. Ordinarily, I would just blast through, but my cargo is worth a little more than average. From there, additional stops will be made at Pho Ph'eah to refuel, and Ordo's trade station for the same reason as Cadomai."
Finally, Jaa again turned to face his newest employee, at least for the time being. The few soldiers and officers present were staring at Jaa with glazed over eyes, having been through this very conference a dozen times over the last couple of weeks. It was not them he was concerned about, but the mercenary he had hired as a specialist if anything... untoward happened on the trip.
"I'm not expecting any trouble, but it's best to be safe. Any questions? If not, then you are free to go. Join whichever Fireteam you so choose and familiarize yourself with the ship."
