A Lesson in the Republic Class

[member="Ayumi Pallopides"]

Camellia sighed as she stacked the files on her desk and accepted her friends concerns. "That's why I'm going to all this trouble of course Ayumi. Voss and Shri-Tal are outside Sith territory and aren't restricted. The Rendili and Humbarine yards I own won't be producing a single ship for the Republic. However, since the Silver Jedi are being utter bigots and morons the voss and Shri-Tal yards do need a market. I cannot advocate they sell to the Republic either since that also would simply be antagonistic. However, if you bridge the two and open up the sales I have no official part in it. And since I myself am neither ordering the construction or producing the ships within yards directly in Sith Territory I haven't done anything wrong. Which I'm not anyway. I'm running a business and the Sith have sadly been poor customers. KDY may be content to stagnate but its a waste of technical genius and engineering for a company to not work. I'm not promoting rebellion on Rendili, nor am I personally funding and supplying their enemy's campaigns. I simply want to find a customer for a product for the facilities the Sith have no dominion over. I also have a few contingencies in the event they're mad I could not prevent the business, however I believe in all honesty that at this point the Republic's navy is the least of the Sith's concerns. The Galactic Alliance poses a new threat to them I would think they would begin to focus on. As for Tenloss' and the effect they've had on Republic contracts. . . . with their presence gone and the Republic trying to reconstruct itself I do believe they will be more cautious and see they have a fine deal here. Even if the Republic collapses the opportunity the Republic Class has after being sold to them is paramount. The Republic is destined to fight with the Sith to the last so if the Republic wins its good business as they'll buy more Rendili ships, if not then perhaps the Alliance or even the Silver Jedi will see the quality of the warships we design from their observations of the Republic's use of them. .. . . .or maybe even the Sith will come around and order a design for themselves one of these days. Regardless there is little harm in these plans but a lot more to earn."

Ayumi was listening to her plan and her reasoning.. which all of it was true. The Silver Sanctum were poor customers at times as well. THey wanted things but when they got them they rarely if ever used them. Still she knew the jedi based company would always make things for jedi and didn't care about the credits it was why they expanded to ways to fund their research with other endeavors. "So you want me to produce and bring it to the republic in your stead. Not a bad idea and really keeps the dust from getting up." She was also all for helping out and trying to make good on something. Her full attention over some of the really nicer things. "We'll gladly work with the republic to get them the things for it."

"Well the shipyards Rendili owns over Voss and Shri-Tal will produce them. I simply want you to be their voice instead of mine. The station chiefs running the yards have done business with the Republic when they sought it, however, to take business to them I'd rather not have anyone take it as a move on my or my people's part." With no offense to her friend, the Rendili woman simply wasn't the sort to let anyone hold the designs of her company. Camellia was fine with Ayumi being the face that brought the work to the Republic though. Her friend could have the credit of the 'find' so to speak, which would be immense if the Republic Class succeeded in its role. It would give Ayumi more pull in the Republic political and military circles if it did. "I guess we should go over the specifics in case you need to bring any up. To differentiate itself from the Republic Class as is, the refit will include the addition of sixty point defense cannons, as well as forty heavy laser cannons, clustered in additional weapon blisters. Aside from those the Republic Class will also sport a HIMS unit to counteract potential Interdictor threats, and be rewired so that standard electronic warfare technology is ineffective. This will be accomplished by minorly altering how the sensors and targeting solutions collect input. In essence there will still be slight interference but accuracy should only drop by ten or fifteen percent at most and not become utterly non-functional."

That would be fine, she wasn't in the habit and telling where she got thing but instead preferred as needed to work with the different people. The senator leaned forward a little ready for it as she spoke with a grin on her face. "ALright lets go over the specifics and we shall be able to work with some of the ships. I'll learn them and present them, get the things needed and we'll ensure it is good for everyone involved. You know how I prefer well making sure everything is good and ready." She was prepared to listena nd have all of it memorized in case of questions for the really uptight ones but didn't think that would be needed. Talking with Suravi would come in handy and she'd be happy to help.

Nodding as her friend agreed to the idea and was focused on it now, Camellia tapped the display on the datapad so her friend could see the altered power relays running through the ship to accommodate for the additional weaponry. "We actually think we won't need to use a proton-8 reactor to power the new weapon blisters, however, it's still on the table since it would definitely boost the ship's shielding as well which in itself would be a nice bonus. However, if we do so we're not certain we can put the ships on a mass produced level. Which is usually the goal of every Rendili Stardrive vessel. I was hoping whether you could say whether the Republic had a mass produced destroyer in their ranks or not to help me come to the decision on that. If they don't then just the defensive guns and anti-ewar alterations will probably be enough since the Republic could then field these destroyers in every system alongside smaller cruisers."

Ayumi shook her hand a little. "THey do and they do not, we were able to make a production line of ships with the power of a star destroyer in a smaller form because of the reactor technology we got from Valen." They had gotten the reactors from there and it supplied a lot of power in a small frame for a ship. They were able to easily make ships to outgun and out shine some of the larger one but it wasn't the best. Really the ship only had enough for just the guns instead of a whole lot of systems and hangers. "There is not many others, we built firekilns with their multi-vectral attacks which could match a star destroyer while still being half the size."

For a moment the Rendili woman merely blinked as she tried to take in what her colleague was saying until it hit her in the face in a moment of delayed stupidity. "Ah the Watts class cruisers you mean. As it stands the Republic Class is about the same quality of the Watts class without modification. In fact its a bit better, but at two hundred and fifty extra meters long so I'll factor that into an equal status. However, if we make the modifications to the Republic Class as outlined then we have certainly surpassed the Watts class in ability. Just giving it the defense guns and HIMS unit is enough to keep mass production. We can look into the reactor and better shielding if we can perhaps get ahold of the Mon Cal yards for some of their generators. I hate to admit but their shields are by far the most impressive on starships, just like Mandalorions typically have impressive hulls. However, if we do go all out and cut down production we could create something astonishing at the price of being unable to field it at every border if needed. . . .what do you think is the best path to take Ayumi?"

Ahaha that was true, each of the shipyards seemed to have their niche and the sith usually impressed for their guns, though Republic knew how to fget fighters and boarding craft. So really it all evened out but those were the big yards and well Sasori knew how to make ships that could be out for ten times the length of everyone else. "We'll work it out, with some of the improvements I know Phenex has been working on a few special things. Their work for Sasori produced one of the fastest ships in the galaxy and they are helping to design what will become hopefully the ultimate in resource and colonization ships for Republic or anyones use. Throwinging these things into the Republic class and beefing it up to surpass some of the other ships will only hope to hopefully bolster the fleet that is needing to defend smaller and smaller territory."

[member="Ayumi Pallopides"]

It sounded nice and actually more like something the Rendili woman would want to go back and implement on the Spearhead class since it had originally been meant for extended expeditions into the Unknown Regions. However, it didn't fit what she imagined for a warship defending an ever shrinking territory. "That doesn't make much sense. It would be sensible if the Republic Class were to be patrolling for long periods of time along sectors of the Outer Rim, but since the Republic doesn't have such a territory now it hardly seems fitting to raise its cost and make it more difficult to mass produce by outfitting it with technology only befitting a long range vessel. When I was thinking of cutting down production I imagined more along the lines of refitting the Republic Class with a far superior reactor and much heavier shield generators and maybe even more weapons. Fitting it with colonization tools doesn't seem fitting right now. I am open to the idea if you want to do so down the line. The ship would be ideal to work with for an expedition craft when the Republic has time to afford such matters. For now though let's keep ideas confined to the ship's combat ability and utility systems that counteract the tricks other factions typically bring to the field."

"I've been in republic fleets that were cut off, long range colonization tools come in handy. It might not look like it but Valen, retaking and trying to help out when the sith empire fell, hell even some of the expansion we had towards the unknown regions facing the Atrisian emperor and the fringe. They liked to not really fight but try to starve people. Better shields and armor is something everyone does, more guns with ways to defeat the latest is a dime a dozen. You know once a new warship is out somehow everyone has a ship with slightly higher specs. It is why I prefer to be practical and work with ones who avoid one upping each other in manufacturing."

[member="Ayumi Pallopides"]

Camellia tapped her fingers again as she listened to Ayumi's case on the matter. "But if you look at the existing design the ship already can carry two years of consumables without resupply. It has more than enough equipment to last it long enough if isolated. However, just as you say, many others work to include better weaponry and shielding. By not doing so the ship corners itself to being prey. We could try and include at least one idea along the lines you're talking about but I do not want the ship to become a long range solo vessel. Its meant to be a ship of the line and lost out to the modular hull of the defender line in the past, I'd like to see it flourish this time around."

"Possibly but you are going to have to make this something that can handle changing agendas as new leadership comes in and does things. It has to be able to last and given the track records of many groups once one regime takes over they well they go with the ones who support them over the old guard instead of trying to make everything work out." A sad fact because aside form others who just basically brished off anything not made by them like that happened for a time within the republic or where the sanctum kept saying they werent going to do this but then suddenly when they got someone who was their friend it was suddenly a good idea. The senator stayed where she was seated. "I can like I said ensure these are seen, maybe even bought but just because it is made for something doesnt mean it is going to be used in that way or be kept in that position."

[member="Ayumi Pallopides"]

Now that was fair to say, the Rendili woman nodded to her friend in regards to that. Although she still didn't like the idea of sacrificing combat potential when the ship already had a somewhat expansive supply threshold. "How about this then Ayumi, you can suggest to me what specifically you're talking about incorporating and we can consider it from there. We could possibly replace the cargo capacity for this if that's what you want, but I don't see how it's different from the ship's existing ability to field two years worth of supplies for the vessel. It might compete for its role, but I believe with the proper quality it will be used. The Centurion is used after all, however, this design is not meant to be a use this or the Centurion, the goal is mass production of a quality ship that can be used whereas the more limited production valued Centurion might be too risky to deploy. Which is essentially the truth as the Centurion's higher hangar capacity with the similar armaments to the Republic Class make it the better ship, but if the Republic Class has a higher production then it can be fielded with less repercussions while still being powerful enough to have confidence in."

"The Joshu converters is all it would need, the upgrades we have made to it allow it to use ambient force energy in conjunction with the raw materials to filter the air in case of damage to life support, create water should damage to water recycling occur, produce food if supplies become tainted, be smaller to save some room allowing for one in every room of a ship and most importantly it can produce with minimal effort the supplies needed to repair the ship should it break or be damaged. Yes you can build something and fill it with equipment to last for years but I can give ships that will be abl to make their own stuff for years including if needed components to build up their own fighters as long as there is a half decent mechanic to assemble it."

[member="Ayumi Pallopides"]

Hearing out the whole of Ayumi's idea, Camellia wasn't sure what to say in response to it at first. Not that she was thinking to refuse even this part that her friend was bringing up, but rather because it didn't seem like too much to agree to. So long as it was affordable and reasonable to add to the design. If it was difficult for the dock teams to install it would pose a problem in production times. If it was cost efficient though and easy to include in the blueprints then the Rendili woman supposed there was no problem with acquiescing to the idea that her friend was suggesting. "That doesn't sound too bad. Can you give me an estimate on the installation and construction costs and how difficult it is to add to the existing design? If you can give me those numbers to work around we can figure out if it is affordable or not. I'm perfectly fine with the idea if it works out that way. It doesn't seem like too much to consider."

Ah good then, Ayumi was there working and who knew they might be able to work some of the other pieces of equipment onto the ships. Battelships needed ways for people to decompress and relax so they weren't on edge all the time and ready to snap. "I would also recommend our training and recreational holosuites. Training for soldiers and decompressing with some of the major stress that can come from situations. You don't want your soldiers being lazy but keeping them on edge all the time can be dangerous to their performance and health. It would also benefit and getting more of it constructed into ships would be welcomed."

[member="Ayumi Pallopides"]

These suggestions were something the Rendili woman could support. A properly fitted holosuite integrated into the onboard barracks could provide troops and security personnel with better facilities to keep themselves in practice during long deployments. A recreational suite seemed a tad unnecessary, but it was understandable. A military base often did have a rec room, but it shouldn't be too elaborate the soldiers tried to skip out on duties to spend their time there. "That isn't a bad actually. i can get behind it. An upgrade to the barracks and rec suite for starships is a more than welcome idea. You should pitch it to everyone Ayumi. Although make sure the recreational suites aren't TOO enjoyable or else the crews might try skipping to hang out in your awesome room."

"That is why there are hardlight crews we have developed and A's that will be able to handle it while they do what they want to do." She said it but there was a great deal of work they were doing as she had things to work with on Denon for the building of it and recreation was a fun thing to have. The senator relaxed a little more. "As to the rest we should be finished up here soon, I'll take this to the proper channels and we shall get everything set up."

[member="Ayumi Pallopides"]

At the mention of the Senator's understandably busy schedule likely cutting their time short soon Camellia gave her friend a nod as she looked over other facets of the design. "Alright then. Run the numbers by the Station Managers here and at Shri-Tal so they can incorporate the recreation ideas you had. If you need any help in the future don't be afraid to ask either, I do enjoy working with you since we typically find mutual benefits from one another. I suppose I'll hone the rest of the design before I leave myself. An experimental shield generator was suggested in order to compete with the Mon Calamari Cruisers rising in popularity. I intend to consider it for the Republic Class. Either way, it was nice to see you again too, it's hard to get away from Rendili nowadays. I had to make this a side trip after doing approved business on Naboo, still its a little fun in a way too. Although I hope the shipyards here and at Shri-Tal don't get full of themselves since I've technically made them out to be independent." Chuckling, the Rendili woman looked over her files and slid some over for Ayumi. "Copies of the spiel of the design if you need them. Are we missing anything though?"

That could be easily be done and Ayumi started giving the information as it was needed to the datapad to send it along. Everything could easily be requisitioned from the factories for them to work with as the senator rose up. "Good, we'll send it and handle the situation." She stayed for a moment offering a smile while going and with the new work that Denon was doing and all of the things they were building she could work it out as needed.
