The High Republic
A Guide to Writing in the High Republic
Mission Statement of the High Republic
Rooted in the noble traditions of Naboo and inspired by the boundless potential of the Southern Systems, the High Republic stands as a beacon of light and democracy in a galaxy shadowed by uncertainty. We are a coalition of worlds and peoples bound by shared conviction - that peace is worth defending, progress is worth pursuing, and unity is the truest expression of strength.
Together, we strive to cultivate harmony through diplomacy, to defend peace through service, and to seek enlightenment through the Force. From the chambers of the Senate to the front lines of the Grand Army, from the halls of the Jedi Temple to the farthest reaches of the Outer Rim, every citizen and ally has a role to play in shaping a just and luminous future.
The High Republic is more than a government - it is a living ideal. It is your voice, your story, and your purpose woven into the destiny of countless worlds. Stand with us. Serve with honor. Learn with wisdom.
Together, we will build a brighter tomorrow.
Where Your Story Begins
The High Republic is vast - a living, breathing civilization where every individual can find their place and purpose. Whether you are drawn to the mysticism of the Force, the command of fleets, the intricacies of politics, or the power of legacy, there is a path for every storyteller.
Below are the four major pillars of the High Republic narrative. Each offers a unique storytelling experience and invites you to explore a different facet of galactic life during this new age of unity and light on Chaos.
The Jedi Order (X)
"For knowledge, for peace, for the balance of all things."
The Jedi of the High Republic are guardians of harmony and seekers of truth. Centered at Shiraya's Sanctuary on Naboo and the new mobile Lightspire Station. Based around ancient Jedi traditions encouraging emotional balance, adaptability, and unity with the living Force.
Writers exploring the Jedi path can tell stories of spiritual discovery, mentorship, and the moral complexities of serving both the Force and the Republic. From training Padawans to mediating planetary crises or confronting the creeping shadows of the Dark Side, Jedi stories are opportunities to explore faith, philosophy, and purpose.
Themes: Enlightenment, duty, moral conflict, mentorship, balance
Ideal for: Writers interested in Force mysticism, Jedi lore, or introspective storytelling
High Republic Strategic Command (X)
"To defend peace is not to crave war, but to be prepared when it comes."
The HRSC unites the Republic Army, Navy, and Intelligence Bureau under a single command to safeguard the Republic's borders and uphold galactic stability. It is the shield that stands between the Southern Systems and the encroaching darkness beyond.
Military writers can explore everything from grand fleet battles and covert intelligence operations to the human side of service - camaraderie, sacrifice, and leadership under fire. Whether you're a trooper on the front lines, a starship captain in the void, or a strategist in the war room, the HRSC offers space for stories of courage, discipline, and the weight of command.
Themes: Duty, sacrifice, leadership, unity through struggle
Ideal for: Writers interested in military campaigns, tactical narratives, or war drama
The Republic Senate (X)
"By wisdom and word, we shape the destiny of the stars."
The Senate is the heart of democracy - a vast assembly where representatives of countless worlds gather to debate, legislate, and guide the Republic's future. It is a crucible of ideals, alliances, and rivalries, where every decision echoes across entire sectors.
Political writers can craft stories of diplomacy, negotiation, and intrigue. Shape policy, defend your homeworld's interests, or navigate the moral gray of galactic governance. The Senate is as much about conviction as it is compromise - where rhetoric can be as powerful as the Force itself.
Themes: Politics, diplomacy, intrigue, ethics, power
Ideal for: Writers who enjoy political theater, negotiation, and character-driven intrigue
The Great Houses of the Republic (X)
"Legacy is the true measure of power."
The Great Houses are the noble bloodlines of the Republic - dynasties of influence that bridge tradition and ambition. Some trace their lineage back to the monarchies of Naboo; others rose to prominence through commerce, art, or conquest. Bound by ancient pacts and rivalries, they are both the pillars and the shadows of the Republic's prosperity.
Writers can explore stories steeped in prestige, betrayal, and succession. From Dune-inspired feuds and alliances to courtly drama and generational conflict, the Great Houses are the perfect arena for political gamesmanship, legacy-building, and moral compromise.
Themes: Power, legacy, betrayal, family, ambition
Ideal for: Writers drawn to noble politics, dynastic intrigue, or morally complex drama
Beyond the Paths
While these pillars form the heart of the High Republic, they are not boundaries - only beginnings. Not every story fits neatly within the Senate halls or the Jedi Temple. The galaxy is vast, and the Republic thrives because of the countless lives that move within and beyond its borders.
Smugglers, explorers, scholars, outlaws, mercenaries, and even those who stand in opposition to the Republic's ideals all have a place in this living narrative. Conflict, contrast, and perspective drive the story forward.
Whether you serve the light, walk in shadow, or stand somewhere in between - your story belongs here.
Every voice shapes the Republic. Every choice defines its future.
Faction Relations
The galaxy is vast, and the High Republic does not exist in isolation. Our ideals of unity, purpose, and progress often intersect - and sometimes collide - with the ambitions of other powers across the stars. Whether through diplomacy, trade, conflict, or shared struggle, the High Republic's story is deeply intertwined with the fate of its neighbors and rivals alike.
Below is an overview of our current stance and narrative relationship with major galactic factions. These positions reflect both in-character political alignments and out-of-character storytelling opportunities for collaboration, conflict, and world-building.
We can use the High Republic - Charter of Unity - to vaguely discern relations between other factions. But here is a more realistic view:
The Mandalorian Empire (X)
Neutral-Allies / THR holds a retainer agreement with ME (Treaty of the Twin Crowns). Both parties affirmed a commitment to mutual respect, non-aggression, and the sovereignty of each nation, with clear terms for addressing violations through ambassadorial dialogue before escalation.
The Imperial Confederation (X)
Neutral-Unknown / No known relationship has been developed. Though they did fight against the GE in defense of Atrisia.
Black Sun Syndicate (X)
Hostile / BSS has invaded member worlds as well as the capital of THR. Treat all BSS operations and known associates as hostile.
The Galactic Empire (X)
Hostile / In opposition to governments that impose Sith teachings, tyranny, or catastrophic Dark Side-aligned doctrines.
The Diarchy (X)
Semi-Hostile / Not much is known due to galactic distance. They do hace dark aligned tendencies and have declared war on Jedi. Tread lightly.
The Sith Order (X)
Hostile / In opposition to governments that impose Sith teachings, tyranny, or catastrophic Dark Side-aligned doctrines.
