Question A galactic empire?

With all the talk of wiping the map or just in general fighting major faction's control of the map, I started wondering. What would happen if a single major faction controlled almost, if not all hexes on the map? I know this would be an enormously difficult thing to do and would require a huge amount of effort from every writer involved and for that faction to have a lot of writers, but what would happen?
Do the staff have a plan for this?
Would they wipe it? Would there be an IC reason for it's fall?

It's such an improbable thing to happen any plan staff would have would be entirely speculative.

They would probably leave it be, and wait for the Rebellions to start

That would be almost impossible given not just the factions on the map, but the amount of territory.

The only way you could do that would be to wipe the map, starting again with an NPC faction ruling the map and then letting a new slate of factions conquer the map from the NPCs.

Something which I wouldn't do, mind, but there's no other conceivable way it could happen.
