STRENGTHS
  • High Maneuverability - Each A/GA-09 was designed with a focus on speed and maneuverability over heavy armaments and defenses. This design focuses much of the energy of the craft in its engine and thrusters, shedding away bulky armor plating and weaponry systems to provide additional speed and maneuvering capabilities to the craft. In many cases, the A/GA-09 can operate on par with a dedicated Interceptor Starfighter when it comes to its speed and maneuverability.
  • Tandem Cockpit - The A/GA-09 is designed to incorporate a tandem cockpit that separates the duties and controls of the craft between a Pilot who controls the flight and weapon systems of the craft, and the Scanner Systems Officer which handles the operation of all remaining systems. This ensures that a singular individual is not overwhelmed by the myriad of systems installed in the vessel and that the craft completes its mission by splitting the operation of the craft between two individuals.
  • Advanced Communications - Designed as a Long-Range Reconnaissance craft to be utilized by Galactic Alliance Fleets or Military Intelligence, the A/GA-09 comes equipped with multiple Scanner Arrays and Sensor Suites beyond the standard equippment installed on other craft.

WEAKNESSES
  • Low Squadron Count - The average size of the A/GA-09 is larger than similar craft as a means to more easily incorporate the additional sensor and scanner equipment that the craft carries. Due to this, the size of the squadron in which the A/GA-09 is deployed is reduced to account for its larger size and the room that it would otherwise occupy in a hangar bay or similar facility.
  • Minimal Defenses - Much of the heavier armor plates have been removed in favor of an increased speed and maneuverability. Though capable of withstanding limited engagements and dogfights, the A/GA-09 was not designed for sustained, heavy engagements.
  • Minimal Armaments - As a means to ensure the additional capacity for the sensors and scanners that the craft carries, the A/GA-09 is equipped with minimal armaments rather than a heavier load-out which is more common for a craft of its size.

DESCRIPTION
While large Fleets and Armadas may carry the day in Interstellar Combat, it is the Intelligence and information that is fed to those formations that ensure their survival and the elimination of an enemy force, thus, enter the A/GA-09 I-wing Reconnaissance Starfighter. The A/GA-09 is a craft that was designed and intended to be utilized as a long-range reconnaissance craft to scout and scan ahead of larger fleets or to be utilized to slip into enemy territory and slip out again before being caught. The vessel forgoes heavier armor plating and defensive capabilities in favor of increased speed and maneuverability which can place it on par with Interceptor Starfighters. This focus on speed and maneuverability ensures that the crew can survive by outrunning and outmaneuvering an enemy rather than meeting them in a head-on engagement.

Each A/GA-09 is equipped with mutliple Scanner Arrays and Sensor Suites to accomplish its role as a Reconnaissance craft. However, the additional room that this equipment takes up is at the cost of armaments and weaponry systems that would have otherwise been installed in the craft leaving the A/GA-09 minimally armed. Its average size which was designed to incorporate the additional sensor and scanner equipment also limits the size of the squadrons that these craft are deployed in due to the room that they otherwise occupy in hangar bays aboard Capital Vessels.

The A/GA-09 I-wing Reconnaissance Starfighter fills a role that is often overlooked in other fleets and organizations, the need for a craft that can scout ahead of a formation, rapidly scan and sweep an area, and depart from the region prior to intercept. Though the A/GA-09 specializes in Reconnaissance missions, it is still capable of taking on additional roles or expanding its capabilities when deployed with other Starfighter Escorts that can cover it during a mission. As the shadow of conflict once more looms over the Galaxy, the A/GA-09 is ready to be deployed to do its part it revealing the fog of war and ensure a route is safe for its allies to traverse.
