A fairy-tale of container boxes

Charzon was ready to sell another Hedeek intermodal shipping container to that As-Aki she fell all too often upon. The slice-o-thon was grueling but any help would be appreciated to replenish the R&D coffers, especially in the absence of Jessica. They both spent the night in the office and Charzon was cleaning up the mess left behind by the slice-o-thon held last night, where, against all odds, the crowdsourcees managed to finish the central computer system in a single day. But most intriguing was the next request from Meran Mechanics. They may have sold many of these, millions even, in the background by companies such as Star Tours, Maersk Star Freight and Bluth Company, who swore to mostly use these containers for containerized freight. The Hedeek had the advantage of being usable on speeder trucks whereas the other cargo containers on the open market couldn't. Ringovinda StarYards quickly became the reference for space freight and accessories in the galaxy for this reason.

"Lyth, you said that you wanted to order a container box or two for Meran Mechanics? There are four varieties to this container box, but regardless of which variety you order, for your species it will be, simply put, massive, yet affordable"

( hmm never receved the notifacation about this sorry.)

" Good thing i know a few humans then huh? " she said trying not to sound like she hadent heard her size refferanced thousands of times a day.
you got used to it. admittadly it was the first thing people saw after all.
" when you own a floating scrap yard you need a few places to store scrap."

"Do the scrap of your scrap yard require refrigeration? Is that scrap liquid?"

There were four versions of that Hedeek, the cheapest being obviously for merchandise that was solid and that didn't require refrigeration, and the most expensive for liquid merchandise that required refrigeration. Answering these questions would prove to be important for the rest of the contract, but from As-Aki she needed not expect more than about a dozen. A Neimoidian Yacht would already feel like a cruiser to them, an AT-AT barge like a Star Destroyer, and so on, so forth. The latest Meran Mechanics creations was even larger than an AT-AT barge, and she saw straight through it.

"There are four varieties to choose from, depending on what you need"

" Mostly just the standard variety. we are dealing with the standard metals ect here. i could use may be at least half a dozen empty barrels as well. now i think about it. "

"How many of the standard variety do you need? We have hundreds of each variety in stock right now, so once your decision is made, you will get them immediately"

Now that we know that the containers slated to contain the solid scrap aren't reefers, the matter of the durasteel barrels, about the size of a hypermatter barrel, often sold as such for the Neimoidian Yachts and over vehicles in that class, still needs to be solved. Even though they could handle liquids, again, the question of whether the barrels are refrigerated or not matters to Charzon, especially since the refrigerated barrels are often useful to store consumables such as pork, blue milk or otherwise.

"As for the barrels, do any of them require refrigeration? That too, we can sell in both refrigerated and non-refrigerated varieties"

" let's say 5. as or the barrels ill need 6 just standard at the moment. i'll have Deran. either pick up the delivery or arrange the droppoff. " she said still annoyed about the size thing.

"It seems that the order is finalized and then you can be on your merry way storing and sorting the junk pile"

In the warehouse, the six barrels are being put into one of the containers while Charzon prepares the invoice for Meran Mechanics. She never imagined the day where external sales could be realized with a contract for them, one of these that counted towards tiering up. Ringovinda Systems mostly made internal sales and was a company that made components for their own ships and vehicles, and supplied many starship components; the propulsion ones, as well as the power generators, were the ones that lacked.

"That will be 1,700 credits"

" Sweet all this time pooling our cash and buying boxes get's us half broke. " Lyth complained under her breath transfereing the credit.
" You ever need any ship parts or a Tandoshian Hotpot look us up."

"There you go! The barrels are inside the containers and they are ready to ship"

As the containers are delivered inside the As-Aki's freighter, Charzon couldn't help but think that they finally got one of those special contracts that Ringovinda Systems lacked. That kind of thing that would be very important to just about any company selling starship components and whatnot. They had a number of components for sale and they were rather difficult to sell. Ringovinda StarYards sold components that were rather vanilla by most standards. Nothing game-changing, nothing out of the ordinary. But otherwise pretty cheap to maintain as a result: proprietary technology made it hard to maintain and that was anathema to commonality. Charzon knew that she couldn't expect business to always go as they wanted, though.

As they watch the As-Aki freighter depart with the containers they just bought here on Ringo Vinda... the internal bureaucracy began to work in earnest. With the sales contract they've got from the As-Aki, Charzon orders it stored in the master dossier for Ringovinda Systems...

"Go store the contract in the dossier we are to send to regulatory authorities once we have the requisite information to forward them"

"Roger" Marcia told her boss.

"Make sure the dossier is stored somewhere safe"

"The master dossier is in the master safe, ma'am"
