A Disruptor by Any Other Name

Serenity's holo self was up on the conference table, This was a rather ordinary office building, and you would hardly think anything of it. It was even stranger that now Republic Business was being conducted in this building. The room, your average glorified conference room was nothing special, a table, chairs and a holo device. It was as if they were in a small companies generic conference room number 5. She waited for the organics to arrive, before them was a research agreement for Experimental Blaster Gas Powered Rifles and Blasters. To procure them through Tenloss and work with them to outfit the Republic Military.

Popo quietly made his way to the determined meeting space. He'd been quietly informed of a need that had, with the current situation, become highly apparent within the Republic Military. Specifically, how to crack tough targets like shields, super heavy armor plating, and other such heavily armored opponents. Tenloss, his company, had just the thing, too.

Disruptor weapons were the answer, here. Capable of atomizing and pulling apart the very molecules of the target, the weapons were very lethal, very damaging, and very illegal. His company made them for sale in systems with few laws and fewer law enforcement. Did it cause problems legally? Of course, but Popo had taken control of the company long after the weapons were being produced and had decided not to change it. In part because it was a well known product, but also because if it wasn't broken, why fix it?

Today, he had a meeting with someone from the Republic to start outfitting their elite with the weapons, though no records would show the sale. Classified under an experimental designation and backlogged in the Republic databanks, someone snooping wouldn't find them - at least, that's what he'd been hinted at what was happening. Tenloss also had its tracks covered. A few small shipments had been listed as stolen, lost, or accidentally destroyed in the course of business and shipments. At the end of the day, the Republic should have a few piles of highly effective and lethal experimental weapons, Popo would have to file insurance claims on lost and stolen goods, and Tenloss would be getting a very large consultant's fee on its insight into the Republic's new weapon design. It was all perfectly legal. That is, it was completely illegal, but with dangerous times come dangerous games. And amnesty. Amnesty was always good.

This was a grim day.
As far as Kiskla was concerned, through her speculations fuelled by The Republic rumour mill, their cold war had ended with a false war being called. The Republic was being framed. This needed to be pursued.
She had arrived to this meeting as soon as the invitation had been extended. It was a shame it had come to this, she reflected on the speech she was going to make to her fellow Jedi as she travelled up the lift to the secluded meeting area. She wiped the sigh that threatened from her lips, and stepped out when the lift chimed. It was a dark room, with the central table as the only eerie light. Kiskla's trademark blonde hair was concealed beneath a heavy cloak, that shaded her face as well.

She stepped forward -- what a strange trio. A Hutt ([member="Popo"]) and a cyber-chick ([member="Serenity"]).

"Let's begin shall we?" Kiskla started, as she was the last to arrive and therefore no more waiting was necessary. Time was not gracious, and she took a seat -- crossing her legs efficiently. She was the only one who had legs to cross, anyways. Might as well flaunt them.

Ah, legs. Popo dreamed of one day being able to wear shoes. Or pants. Or navigating stairs.

Ripping his mind back to the task at hand, Popo nodded graciously to the woman before him.

"Yes, let's," he stated politely, his voice deep and resonating. "I have set aside the required items to aid the Republic forces in the coming... conflicts. Fees have been adjusted accordingly, but my concern is the... legality of the matter. These items are, legally, banned in Republic space."

"Republic space is facing the threat of being severely compromised." Kiskla commented, a resolve that would impress her guard, Kyton, back home. There was nothing lackadaisical about her tone, nor her presence here. In and out was what she sought.

"Talk about these items a bit. The files were extremely limited as we all understand the importance of secrecy in this meeting. I understand thus far they are to the benefit of The Republic in the pending war against The Mandalorians. What are they, and how much will it be?"

"These weapons, use more Blaster Gas than your average weapon, thus vaporizing organic targets, and is able to punch through armor such as the Mandolorians wear. I have not spoken price yet with our dear friend here yet but I think you can agree that such a weapon will have a great effect during any coming conflicts. I would outfit elite soldiers with it, and brand them something other than their normal name and deny that they are what they are if asked, if pressured, they self destruct on command when we are done with them, making us able to cover our tracks. "
Serenity's holo image had legs.. They just weren't real legs she supposed. She looked to the others. "From my point of view, the republic never bought them, and never used them, any found in our ranks clearly were not supplied by us. We just need to maintain deniability. "

"Disruptors are... vicious," Popo stated after a moment. He then nodded to the holographic projection. "As the young lady stated, they can bypass most armor, including beskar. A shot from a disruptor will disintegrate the target. The weapon tests I've seen even punch through most energy shielding with relative ease."

The Hutt set a small sheet of flimsy with the statistics on the weapon, including a detailed sketch of the DXR-6, the weapon manufactured by Tenloss currently.

"The weapons fire a constant beam of energy until it hits the target. Most disruptors are used as sniper rifles and because of this, we incorporate built in scopes with most models. Now, the pistols are a bit different."

Again, the Hutt set a sheet of flimsi on the table for the pistol. More statistics and data was visible with the sketch of the weapon. The use of flimsi was easy to explain. It could be burned afterwards to hide the evidence.

"They're a bit weaker than the rifle variants, but still lethally effective. The weapon will punch shields and armor, though at a lower rate than the larger models, obviously. I would suggest issuing the rifles to sniper units and the pistols to your officers. I can guarantee they'll show great effectiveness against even the most heavily armored opponents. As for price, I'm willing to give a fifty percent discount for the duration of the conflict. Obviously, once the conflict is dealt with and over, the weapons will no longer be needed and... disappear."

She nodded her head in comprehension as the visuals were passed on to her.
There was silence in the room while the Jedi oversaw the components, considering what [member="Popo"] and [member="Serenity"] had said to describe them. It was a fateful step, but someone had to make the decision. Having the Republic at a disadvantage was simply not an option, and that was a made-up enough mind for her.

"Fifty is quite generous." Kiskla marvelled simply, cutting the silence and setting down the information. Her slender hands moved to enter a code into the conference table, and a small datapad rose, demanding a digital signature. Her nail pressed against it, and she swooped out her digital code; but hesitated before entering the last two components. "It would be welcomed to explore options for The Jedi as well. Blasters and rifles aren't exactly The Order's specialty."

"Master [member="Kiskla Grayson"], I remind you that the republic does not support the jedi with equipment as you're not part of our military. Thus a member of your order Matsu Ike and Alli Wren of Baktoid Industrial Systems use the Non-Profit Sasori Research to provide you with all your equipment directly funded by Baktoid Industrial Systems. " She inserted her signature on the document accepting the weapons.

"What weapons would the Jedi be interested in, Miss Grayson?" the Hutt asked politely. "I don't know of anything off the top of my head that Tenloss produces right now aside from blasters and pistols outside of ships and the like."
