A dark vision

Nadiem Jedi Temple
He sat legs crossed as per the usual stance when in a state of meditation. His master may have had unconventional training methods but it was with the traditional way Avin found solace of mind. His mind entered a trance-like state as he reached out into the galaxy at large. The pool around his locality slowly but surely expanded to that of his local systems and then far beyond although its vagueness ever the same with the dark mists and fog of the Sith masking large swathes of his vision. He felt a darkness sweeping over him with a sudden chill. Avin tightened his mind to the feeling and attempted to see where it followed, the fog leading him to a clearing as if he was watching on a holoscreen he could see a group of figures. As the fog cleared and their features became more obvious his body started to sweat. He recognized the individuals and locations yet the events seemed almost impossible. Death and destruction befell those of whom he had pledged himself. The darkness seemed to drag them away further from him until...

Avin's eyes shot open and he fell back onto the meditation stall of which he had started to levitate a foot over. He had to wipe his forehead from the perspiration build up that had now covered most of his face and neck. A coldness pressed down against his heart as he tried to make sense of the visions befallen to him by the force. He had many visions but none of his savior, none of the master that brought him back from the brink.

Avin started at once to his room and packed a second pair of robes as well as his older jacket and casual attire from before. He looked over the old leather coat and smiled as he folded over his arm and threw it into the carryall pack.

After showering and making a few visits of permission from his fellow Jedi Knights as to his leave being taken the Republic Guardian made his way towards the Jedi Fighter that the republic had given him. It seemed to shimmer in the mid-summer sunlight as if it had just been repainted or polished. Of course, in reality, it was due to the required cleaning after a week on the salt water planet of Mon Cal that had soaked his ship and left a mass of salt crystals on its left intake. Alas, he loaded his bags and set the onboard computer to key the hyperspace for the Imahalyan system.

He cleared orbit and connected to the hyperspace ring that had sat in the place he had last disconnected it. After running the preflight checks Starfire thumbed his hyperdrive and watched the stars around him collapse into lines of mass and light before vanishing into the blue vision of hyperspace.

For the Jedi, his official line was to check up on an allied world yet for him this journey held the direst of consequence in effect. He had to warn or at least check in on his master and her people especially in these times of such constant war. For once he wished his visions to be wrong yet his guy held a feeling of uncertainty he had not felt since the fall of the last republic. It was not a feeling he had ever wanted to be replicated. For now he could do nothing but sit back and wait.

The future was uncertain, for stardust the near future made her worry every night, every day she woke and started her training with her daughter she found herself distracted, a dark deathly feeling seemed to grasp her mind. She shook her head after hearing a voice

momma? Are you ok?

She asked, stardust looked to her as she took a deep breath and nodded. She gave a small smile and patted her shoulder

simple thinking is all. You did good today go ahead get a drink and rest our afternoon training will begin...little later then normal

Her daughter smiled and nodded, even though she felt her mother was lying...maybe it was something she didnt understand

Meanwhile stardust walked outside to the little cliffside her home looked out over...she took a breath and sighed seeing her city below her. Everything seemed like it was crashing down...the dark side seemed like a tsunami crashing agaisnt the light shifting the balance to be uneven....her eyes glances up towards the sky someone was about to arrive she could feel it...she turned and spoke into her comm that they were to allow the person coming to visit through...even if they asked who she did not know

Hyperspace

He sat with his eyes shut for most of the journey. Trying to push back out into the vision he had had but hours before but to no avail. The previously open and simple galaxy had become shrouded by hatred and darkness. Even as he fell deeper into a trance his attempts were in vain but to find images of scorched earth and long left battlegrounds devastated by the horrific strategies of the sith and their armies. The whole sector that he felt out into left a searing image in his head of death and destruction.

He let his eyes open again as the calm blue swirl of hyperspace shifted into material stars again and then he felt the hard jolt that set the ship into sub-light engines once more. As he looked out through the front viewport Avin saw the planet of Imahalayan and its beautiful blue and green landscapes that perforated the surface with color and life.

He set the engines to the limited speed allowed for orbital approach and radioed his comm.

"This is Sir Avin Starfire of the Republic, I come to speak with Queen Stardust within Imahalayan city, submitting clearance codes now."

He sat back in his seat and waited for the go ahead. When it came to his ship descended on a flight path that cut in over the hills to the city that overlooked the metropolis. Avin stared out of his window to see a little house perched upon an overlooking cliff-face and smiled as he saw two specs of bodies moving on the ground.

Upon landing the ship Avin soon took his bag and hailed down a nearby Taxi and paying the man to take him as far towards that small house on the hill as he could. Avin sat and watch the varying houses and now thriving businesses that had once been so grey and scared from Darkside rule. It made him think of the months he had spent in the Imahalayan jungles chasing down and fighting a guerrilla war with the occupiers. The whole thing made him remember how much these people had done to get their home back, he just hoped that his visions were untrue and that such a place would never have to face it ever again even wondering if the Republic would be able to do anything to defend it. He doubted that however, with their move to Carida most of the fleet was overstretched as it was alas there was a chance.

Upon the speeder halting two miles south of the Queens home, the Jedi Knight dismounted and started his way up the mount.

While her daughter ate and played stardust went outside to the entrance to her home, she looked towards where she felt a familiar face slowly making his way up the mount, she took a breath and started walking towards him. She had a feeling as to why he was visiting. That ever so dark feeling that had washed over her, the feeling and visions of death and destruction surrounding her each time she tried to sleep or meditate

She would stop about half way as she could see him now, she gave a small smile before she calle out to him

you know, been way to long since you've visited old friend

She moved a bit closer and gave a smile before she sighed and frowned a bit bowing her head

unfortunately I have a feeling I know why your here

Mount Imahalayan
He had been walking for about fifteen minutes when he decided to open his canteen and take a swig of water from the metal cylinder. In the dark times of his past, the gaps between republics as to say, that Avin may have been drinking something much stronger out of such a canister. He remembered the countless nights and days while lying in busted old apartments hungover or too drunk to even slightly function. At the time he had nothing left, his master and all he had known to be good in the universe were also in hiding or dead. Back then he had shut himself off to the force and thrown his lightsaber and robes out into space as he had fled the Republic's military frontier. He spent years existing on nothing but alcohol and whatever else he could put into his body to make him forget and disconnect from his past as a Jedi. He had to pretend he had never been of the order even though it had been almost all of his life he had to lie to everyone he met and the most believable lies are those that the liars believe themselves.

He started walking again and continued to think about the days that he had first met his current master as it is said although their relationship had matured into more of a close friendship to his heart. At one time he had nothing but to sit in a Coruscant prison cell of ex-sith waiting for his execution. Yet it was her who had come to his rescue. It was her who got him back off that damned planet. It was her who had reawakened his true calling to the galaxy. She had taught him and helped him recover from everything he had lost, the art of his weapon and his touch to the force as well as a new perspective was owed entirely to her and her people in return he had made a pledge of a life debt to protect her and her people.

Another five minutes or so had passed when Avin looked up to see a figure displayed against the ridge. Her emerald green skin and slight swagger of stance allowed him to immediately identify what was probably his only true friend in this universe of theirs. And yet with her recognition came the feeling in his gut of the dark visions that foretold events to come. He hoped that she could not see his solemn expression as he initially heard the call.

"For that, I must apologize, the Republic have kept me busy with their missions."

He felt her emotion shift within the force and he understood why.

"Yes we have much to discuss, but these are solemn times and I fear only darkness is to come."

He pushed his way further up the mountain to meet her level. He stared at her being, she looked healthy as far as she had always looked however it was clear that a trouble in the force had not just been felt by himself. He just hoped that even with her balance to force practice that she would maintain her clarity and function.

"So you have felt it too..."

every time I sleep or meditate, I feel a great darkness and death overtake me...visions of a wasted city...

Stardust walked slowly beside him, hands behind her back as she took a deep breath and looked over to her good friend and apprentice

the sith have a blanket over nearly the entire galaxy, their dirty hands stained with the blood of the innocent still grabbing for anything that isn't theirs

She looked forward as they kept crawling slowly up that mountain of hers, she closed her eyes and spoke again

commenor attacked the with blockade of their shipping lanes, I fear....I fear their revenge will be swift and violent...

She looked over to him

and I'm afraid I need to ask a task of you, your the only one I could trust to this special task

He nodded, her statement more or less aligned with his own feelings of recent if leaving out the rather vivid dreams he had been given. Her face turned stern as they continued up the passage of grass and the odd grey jutting rocky outcrop. Her words of the Sith were of no news to him but the Commeneri attack of the Empire's blockade was a new event to him. The ally of his own republic and one of the few they had left surely knew they had little chance at withstanding the onslaught of the sith emperor and his vast armada.

"This is somber news, however, it is a valiant move nonetheless."

Her gaze then shifted to his.

"Simply ask of me this task and it will be done."

Her expression had shifted, previously withdrawn to the events of galactic war and conquest this new expression was raw and personal.

"Anything."

His second reply came as a resolute support to his first and cutting through the few seconds of empty air that had formed.

She turned towards her friend stopping him before the mount leveled out, she frowned as she bowed her head. She wished she would've forced the issue years ago, deep within her heart and soul she still had something for him...yet she buried it and hid it

I have been training my daughter, she is powerful within the force already as she us such raw...untapped and untrained....i fear that with commenor possibly to be attacked...I may fall or...may not make it back. I'm going to take her back to try and get stuff from my husband house and shop...should I not make it back...I want you to teach my daughter the ways of the force

She said as she placed a hand on his shoulder

there is no one I trust to teach her, I wish the task to fall to you avin for you I know will train her as I trained you

She said as she squeezed his shoulder giving a soft smile

come, let's go to the house so you can meet her

Mount Imahalayan

The words took a while to sink in. The task that she had asked of him. Her own daughter and only child were to be entrusted to him upon her demise? He had been a Jedi Knight for many a year yet never had he taken an Apprentice of his own. Yet he could feel the power even from here of the child.

"There would be no higher honor, my master, however, I hope that such a thing never needs to take place. If it does, the girl will be safe with me. With your training and wisdom as part of her I am sure she will become more powerful and wise than either of us."

He let his head move back into a swirl of thoughts as they carried on back up the mountain.

They would reach the house, stardust would smile to her friend Alvin before she opened the door and let them on as brigh was eating a snack swinging her feet from the tall chair before she perked up seeing the other man entering as she hopped down. Stardust turned towards Avin

brigh meet avin, a long time friend and protector of this planet

Brigh came up to the man, she stood straight and smiled brightly

hello avin! I'm brigh! Momma calls me that because I'm her brightest star!

She said with enthusiasm

Avin let his face relax to a more friendly manner than the normal stern state that had come to perpetuate it at the moment. He crouched down to the young girl's height and let a smile out.

"Is that right? Well, Your mother has never been wrong before, so you must be a very bright star indeed."

While Avin spoke he had felt a presence emit into the force, the source being just to his front within the room. A sense of raw untapped power just starting to develop but still untamed. It was more than he had felt from some of his fellow Jedi Knights at the temple. It felt similar to that of her mothers yet its lack of maturity made his own senses come close to being overwhelmed.

Avin stood up again yet maintained his smile though turning his head slightly to give Star a look of understanding.

Stardust looked to him and nodded softly, brigh simply giggled and bounced a little bit...ttueky her daughter had inherited that strong connection to the force her power untamed like a small.dragon learning how to use its powers

that is one thing I will never be wrong about my little star

She said and picked up brigh who laughed and squirm before she rest her on her shoulder before she sat her down

now then how about some lunch I'm sure your hungry after your trip Avin

Star said as brigh took off towards the kitchen area

He continued to maintain a jovial appearance amongst the new company and replied in an upbeat tone, his voice that normally held its tone from excessive smoking now came through much clearer and the pitch had shifted upwards slightly.

"Quite so" Avin agreed as Star picked up the girl.

Avin hadn't really thought of his stomach and only now realized the hunger of not eating for nearly eight hours. He scratched his head and replied.

"Now you say that I am rather hungry."

oh avin....jeez you should know, a healthy body and mind are key to using the force with ease

She said as she smirked at him. Moving off to the side she started making a few sandwiches. She hummed as she did so before she sat the table and took a seat motioning for him to sit as brigh climbed up into a chair

have things been good with the jedi avin?

"Yes well, both body and mind sometimes have to take a backseat in days such as these. Alas, you are right once again."

He followed into the kitchen and sat down at one of the chairs across from the young Brigh. He took off the brown robe that made up the outermost of his Jedi attire before placing it over the back and sat for a moment watching the child's oblivious upbeat attitude that he had not held within himself since he had joined the old republic. He continued to watch as Stardust placed a plate of sandwiches onto the table. He grasped one and bit into it almost immediately before chewing and swallowing down a good half of the lunch item.

"The order is thriving as per always, however, I fear that I spend not enough time with them on the temples as I do with the forces of the Republic in the field yet that is no change from what it used to be and even now I am still able to learn from the great masters such as Grandmaster Feanor and others."

His thoughts went to the time before he had shut himself off from the force and fled the Jedi. He remembered the time in which he had given it all up in fear of persecution turning instead to drinking and smuggling. Yet that was how Stardust had found him and guided him back. He remembered the times training that had reawakened the abilities and skills that Avin had shut off within his brain. It had been close to two years since then and he had learned plenty more moving past even what he had learned almost 20 years ago with his first master. As he finished another bite of the snack Avin's eyes found Brigh again and her innocence reminded him of what he had lost when training under Master Crick all those years ago.

"However the Jedi as a whole is doing well. Many are relearning the ways of the old orders however without the forced duty to fight or work within the Republic many have dedicated themselves to learning much more. At the moment we are in the process of moving the temple and its artifacts along with the rest of the republic back to the core worlds. The Senate believed that for the New Republic to thrive we must first return and show that we are not a mere remnant of old but instead a bastion of democracy. I believe that a chancellor is a wise man in his speakings and I hope that in time many others will see the same way especially with the wars that are spreading throughout."

He finished the sandwich and took a swig from a canteen that a few years ago would have contained whiskey or some other hard liquor yet now held only water.

even in the heat of battle may lessons come, however I'm glad your able to learn from the grandmasters...maybe once things have calmed down me and brigh can come and visit the temples...I feel itll be a great learning experience

She had been to many temples, sith, jedi, in between....never did she stay...true to her title she was a gray user with no set place within the force but the force itself. A smile found its place in her as she remembered learning the force...then changed to a bit of a frown remembering how she was led astray, yet here she was now.

I myself am a bit wary of the republic, bad experiences is all but however knowing you speak well of them I'm willingly to possibly give them a chance....as you know well mistakes made in the past are mere lessons that we learn from

She made sure brigh could hear, her daughter nibbled on her sandwich as she listen to her mother's wise wise words

Avin sat back as she spoke and took another two or three swigs from his canteen though maintaining his attention on her words. He had not known of her involvement with the Republic old or new yet he knew not all those among his new organization were there for the goodness of the ideals or ideology and so Stardust did indeed speak wisely on caution. Alas with the fall of the Galactic Alliance there were less and fewer allies within the galaxy for people such as Star to go to in freedom.

"What happened in the past cannot be changed but I am hopeful for what the order and the Senate can do in the future. However, I am not here to talk of the republic."

He looked over at the girl who seemed to be within her own world for now though no doubt was listening in on their discussion.

"If Commenor has attacked the blockade it leaves the whole region at risk. What we spoke of on our way up here is the task at hand we must think of the future and how to best preserve what you need safe."

His eyes looked over to Brigh as he continued

"As for the other thing we spoke of I will leave that up to you to break the news."

I just hope it doesn't come to it avin, but should such happen...

She left it at that, she looked to her daughter who had been simply listening, she looked confused a bit as stardust sighed

my daughter, a lot of thing will be changing soon, the Sith the...dark side of the force may be coming to commenor soon...I will need to be there to defend the queen, should I not come back this man here will come and get you...and train you in the art of the force

but...where will you be?

Stardust sighed and closed her eyes

doing what mommy does best...defending those who have done no wrong

Avin sat and listened as the conversation had taken place wanting to leave enough time for the two to connect.

"Do not worry little one the high chance will be that your mother will return from Commenor and all will continue as before. But we always need to make sure you are safe from some of the bad people that would hurt you or your family."

He sighed and looked down at the emotional girl.

"As I said earlier it likely will not happen you just need to know if anything does happen that I will come to make sure you can continue your learning."

Stardust nodded her head to brigh as she was silent before nodding towards avin and looked down back to her food as stardust spoke

I'll will go to commenor soon so we can get everything from our home there and bring it here where it is safer, besides I know you enjoy the weather and fields here

Brigh gave a smile and nodded as she munched on her sandwich before star looked to avin
