Private A Crossroads

The arrangement had been simple enough. Meet for something to eat, talk for a while, and see how things were going.

Iandre had deliberately left it at that when she'd contacted Jayna. No training schedule, no request that she bring her lightsabers, and certainly nothing resembling an assignment. Enough had happened recently that she wanted a chance to check in with her Padawan without turning every moment they spent together into another lesson. The fact that Iandre herself had only recently been formally knighted made the thought mildly amusing. She had somehow acquired a Padawan before anyone had gotten around to officially deciding she was no longer one herself.

One of Veradune's communal halls seemed as good a place as any. By the time Jayna arrived, Iandre had already claimed a place for them near one of the broad windows, far enough from the busiest tables that they could speak comfortably without being isolated from everyone else. She had abandoned anything resembling formal Jedi attire for the day, dressed simply and comfortably, with her dark hair braided loosely behind her. Two plates sat on the table along with drinks, although she'd left enough untouched that Jayna could add whatever else caught her attention.

Iandre noticed her approaching and raised a hand in greeting, a warm smile appearing almost immediately. "There you are." She gestured toward the empty seat across from her. "I wasn't entirely sure what you'd want, so I decided against pretending the Force could tell me what you were hungry for."

There was humor in her grey eyes as she settled back into her chair. This was different from standing together on a training field. No stance to correct, no invisible opponent to consider, and no lesson waiting behind an innocent question. At least, Iandre hadn't planned one.

"This isn't anything formal, Jayna." she assured her. "I realized we've spent quite a bit of time talking about what you're learning, but considerably less about how you're actually doing."

Her expression softened as she reached for her drink.

"So consider this your first official check-up with your newly official Jedi Knight." The absurdity of that particular order of events brought a quiet laugh from her. "How have you been?"
