A laugh came and he wanted to say something…but there was no point. This voice – this being – was on Nimue’s side and had been from the start. He stopped and leaned against the wall and folded his arms, looking into nothingness.
"I knew you’d say that. So now I have to accept everything because it’s the right thing to do? This was never the right thing to do from the start when she did what she did. I neer had a choice, but now I do. I don’t want a child sharing the genes of other men. That is wrong. And to not have a choice alongside Nimue?"
He swallowed, a dry lump in his throat. He knew, again, if he left, he would have nothing and be forgotten in a heartbeat. He didn’t speak for a few seconds.
"I don’t know how to love. Let alone be a…father."
The fact he never had one, and blamed his own for his painful upbringing was a reminder why at one point he never wanted the burden himself.
