A Confession Worth Four Men

A voice came to him, and opening his eyes, Asterion saw his boots on the ground, and glanced sideways, seeing nothing but knowing that patronising voice.

"I thought you were dead."

The mountain dweller had seemingly forged a bond with Nimue.

Dead? Hardly the word. But then again maybe this is all in your head. You're not the first person to ever hear voices out of nowhere. Reyax's voice almost teased. But enough about that. What you should be more concerned with is going back there and telling that woman you'll stay with her. Or are you truly THAT stubborn?

"You don’t know me or what I’ve been through – stubborn doesn’t come close! It’s about not wanting to be a pawn in some game of genetics, and not to let me heart rule my head. It’s a luxury others can afford, but not me. I don’t want that now. I can’t allow it."

Brow still resting on the stone, he brought his hands up to the wall and started pushing, as if fighting with the voice that was talking sense.

"Why do you care anyway? And who the hell is that women you called Nimue…Mabana or something? What was all that crap about?"

[member="Nimue Stormson"]

You really think she wants that, boy? Think about it. If she wanted to control you or anything she'd have a collar put on you, kept you locked in a cage and only let you out when needed.Use that mind of yours and see this is just her wanting have a family. When asked about the woman he'd called Nimue Reyax's voice was quiet before finally saying You know the funny thing is that when I granted the Borish House magic through 'personal favor' I neglected to mention that favor came in the form of a daughter. Ireni. Such a sweet girl. A little over dramatic at times though. Not that I ever told her that. She never even met me. I stayed up on my mountain while she lived her life down below. I won't lie and say it was a mistake to have not gone down to see her....but I do wish I had at least once.

Asterion raised his head and turned, calmer and in control but clearly unimpressed.

"Stop calling me boy, alright? Do I look like a boy? And ever think for me? If I wanted a family who has the right to take my genetics to craft a piece of me that is now years older? What have I missed out on? I don’t care if you come back and say think about her – she didn’t think about me, and I’m supposed to forgo all that and those other…men…who are part of her? I want a child of my blood and not mixed with anyone else!"

His hand cut through the air as he dictated. The more he spoke, the angrier he became as he stalked around talking to nothing, but knowing he could be heard.

When you reach 1000 years perhaps then I'll call you someone else. Until then you're still just a boy to me. In fact your acting like one with a tantrum now. What does it matter if this child is only partly yours? She still a human. Just as Nimue is. And you humans have a habit of looking out for each other, right? And I can't tell you myself what you've missed, but if you lave now you'll miss out on so much more. The voice went quiet again to let [member="Asterion"] think on it, before giving another piece of advice. Ask yourself, would have been a greater sin to tell you now...or not at all?

A laugh came and he wanted to say something…but there was no point. This voice – this being – was on Nimue’s side and had been from the start. He stopped and leaned against the wall and folded his arms, looking into nothingness.

"I knew you’d say that. So now I have to accept everything because it’s the right thing to do? This was never the right thing to do from the start when she did what she did. I neer had a choice, but now I do. I don’t want a child sharing the genes of other men. That is wrong. And to not have a choice alongside Nimue?"

He swallowed, a dry lump in his throat. He knew, again, if he left, he would have nothing and be forgotten in a heartbeat. He didn’t speak for a few seconds.

"I don’t know how to love. Let alone be a…father."

The fact he never had one, and blamed his own for his painful upbringing was a reminder why at one point he never wanted the burden himself.

There was no noise for the longest time. Reyax, if he was even there, just listened to him. The cold air still hung around [member="Asterion"] even as he was quiet for a while himself. Not until the had mentioned never being the type to be a father had the voice finally responded.
You do have a choice. Three in fact. The right one. The wrong one. And the easy one. Up to you to chose. But if you can't be a father to this girl....then don't be. Be a man.
After that Reyax went silent. The cold air began to vanish around the warrior. If that wasn't enough indication he was gone then the fact he never spoke to him again was clear enough.

A sudden drop in temperature and aura meant one thing after such ominous words. The spirit had said his final words, leaving Asterion alone and at a literal crossroad.

"Gee. Thanks."

To him, it felt like this was a pre-determined course. Evident that no-one cared about his feelings once a child was involved and he simply had to accept things, it was something Asterion couldn’t do. And what about his choice? Who would care what choice he had? He hadn’t made ripples with the Primeval yet and would be forgotten about in hours. Nimue had plenty of other men ready to take up the mantle of being a lover and…Daddy

With a defeated sigh, he rubbed his head and turned back to the room, not hesitating and appearing nervous or timid. This was his choice but he didn’t care how it would go. No doubt she would be plotting with Reyax about how to lure him back. The very thought made him stop for a second before pushing the wooden door open.

He saw her still in there and spoke first, and quick.

"Let me meet her and see what creation you’ve made. As for what I do after that, you don’t get a say. Or your spiritual God. And as for you and me? Don’t push it."

[member="Nimue Stormson"]

Nimue had felt him coming. She turned just as the door opened, her eyes still red from crying and rubbing them. She listened to him say how he was willing to at least see her first. That was good. Though she gave him an odd look when he mentioned a spiritual god. She was about to ask when he brought up the relation between them, and how it was now officially on thin ice. In truth Nimue had no idea about Reyax visiting [member="Asterion"] . She was still where she was the last time they spoke, not hearing anything. But she stood when he finished and simply nodded. After that she cast her head down.
"I understand..."

He felt a weakness in her aura – emotionally drained – which was understandable. However, Asterion was the bastard child of a Jedi, victim of rape from a trigger happy soldier. Cast out in darkness, raised in darkness, surviving in darkness. She’d do well to remember that as this wasn’t what he wanted from their relationship, but he wasn’t going to crumble after a deception like this.

"I’ll be back soon."

Backing out, he let the door close and cut off his emotion from the Force as he knew it would be painful feeling her in it.
