A Common Scientist

"You have to follow your own path."
bluebanner.png
Location: Commenor | Time: 07:18 | Objective: Meet with the Queen of Commenor
It had been Asher's first time to visit Commenor. In fact, it had also been his first time reaching out to another Faction other than The Confederacy to sell his weapons to.

In the years since it's conception, Dynetech Industries had become an impressive arms manufacturer under the guidance of the Techno Union. However, now that their first contract had expired they were free to expand to other regions of the galaxy, so they would start with Commenor.

From his shuttle, Asher had been reviewing the products he brought to display to the Queen of Commenor. Checking them for any last minute defects and making sure they were the best he could offer her. A small team of scientists had been brought to aid him in the demonstration, yet aside from them the Scientist was unguarded. The pilot called out into the passenger bay, her feminine voice cutting through the bit of idle chatter that was occurring in the hold.

"Doctor Malvern, we're arriving at the Commenori palace."

Asher's attention was focused on the staff that he had taken into his hands. Using a pair of grips, he tightened a small metal ring before calling out to the pilot. "Thank you, Cyn." His voice was rough and tested, yet the calming expression he held behind that firm voice was a stark contrast. As the shuttle came into a soft landing, Asher took to his feet, stretching freely as he let out a brief groan. The other three members of his staff stood with him, each one carrying a rather large briefcase or duffel bag.

"This is what we've been working for. Be sure to keep the demonstrations short and sweet. All of these products are tested and finalized but I'm not one to take chances." He said to his team, before glancing over to the off-loading ramp. A low hiss erupted from the door before it lowered itself down onto the landing platform below. Asher's eyes narrowed a bit as the bright light of the morning sun crept through the entrance. From his pocket he produced a thin-framed pair of glasses.

He placed the frames over his eyes, clearing his vision a bit as he led the group of scientists out of the shuttle and onto the ramp.

Well someone was a morning person. Normally Kay wasn't up and at 'em this early, but today she had to be. She had a guest coming. At least there was Sapir tea to help her wake up.

Meetings were meetings, and meetings kept her busy and out of her own head. Recently her estranged husband was caught be a bounty hunter and returned to Commenor. However that information, as well as his current whereabouts was being kept secret. She didn't want him to spend the rest of his days locked up. It would drive him mad, as well as herself for knowing that he was in there. It was bad enough that she had to change the status of their marriage as the people demanded. Politics was a cruel game.

But at least the sun was shining. That alone would help to start the day off right.

Kay waited at the landing pad as [member="Asher Malvern"] 's shuttle touched down, with her tea in hand. Two guards flanked her, but no more than that. She didn't feel that insecure in her own home. A smile touched her face as her guests stepped down the ramp. First impressions were important afterall.

"Welcome to Commenor. I hope that the trip over was calm and uneventful."

"You have to follow your own path."
Deep blue eyes fell over Lady Kay as Asher approached her. His first impression was that she would be a wholesome Monarch who would not lord over the man like so many others. In the past his family name had often brought him a bit of clout that allowed him to avoid such things. Perhaps it was the only reason he still kept the surname. He approached the Queen, out-stretching a hand if she would take it.

“Queen Arenais.” His voice was gruff and unrefined, however as he spoke it was soon very obvious that his exterior appearance was far from his actual personality.

“I’m Asher Malvern. President and Chief Science Officer of Dynetech Industries. Thank you very much for agreeing to this demonstration, I promise you will not regret it.” He offered her an assuring smile before stepping to the side to introduce his staff. Three beings stood behind him silently, each one wearing a rather simplistic suit and holding a content expression.

“Allow me to introduce Doctor Meisk, chief of Engineering.” A rather frail Nemoidian stepped forward, also offering his hand to the Commenori Queen. He would offer a brief greeting before stepping back in line.

“Doctor Chaa’aak. Director of Special projects.” This time a rather out of placed Wookie would step forward. Rather than erupt in a savage howl he let off a soft grunt, nodding his head to the Queen as he was introduced.

“And Mr. Sol, he is the program manager for the devices we will be showing you today. He is also one of my company’s lawyers so you can refer to him for all legal matters.” The final man to step forward was a short, blonde-haired human with a very young face. He would take the Queen’s hand before stepping back in line silently.

With the introductions done, Asher turned back to the Queen, his hands tucking into his pockets as he spoke. “Now, if you’d like, we can begin the demonstration immediately. None of the devices we brought today are overly destructive but a bit of room will be required.” While Asher adjusted his glasses he maintained a warm smile, he was quite enjoying the prospect of his Company branching out.

Kay took his hand, giving [member="Asher Malvern"] a firm yet gentle shake. She held his gaze while he spoke, taking mental notes as she usually did, but nothing judgemental.

Her attention then turned to each individual as they were introduced. She took hold of Doctor Meisk's hand as it was offered and gave it that same soft, yet firm shake. "Pleasure." Then it was onto Doctor Chaa'aak. It was nice to see a Wookie be something other than a pilot or bodyguard. She bowed her head to him.

Lastly was Mr. Sol. Kay took his hand and shook it before turning her attention back to Asher. She nodded to his request and gestured for him to follow her. "I'm looking forward to seeing what you've brought. I have a field just on the other side of the wing here that can be used. It should have more than enough space for you."

"You have to follow your own path."
Once the introductions came to a close, Lady Kay led the way to their demonstration area. As they walked, Asher's eyes took in the scene of the planet surrounding them. From what he had always heard Commenor was a nice peaceful planet, something that the man was glad to know still existed. "This is my first time to your planet, it's beautiful." He said, his eyes still roaming over the sights that fell around the palace.

It did not take long before they reached their demonstration zone and Asher clasped his hands together. "Well. I supposed we should get right to it?" He said, before looking to his own staff and pressing a hand to his chin. "Doctor Meisk, the lenses, please." Asher gestured to the Nemoidian who offered a brief smile before stepping forward. His waist held a small datapad which he handed off to Asher.

"Now. The first product I'd like to show you is one of our newer creations. Something you may have seen in the market before, however ours is one of the least expensive to make while still being incredibly functional." The Nemoidian fell to a knee while Asher began to tap away on the datapad before him. From his briefcase, Doctor Meisk produced a small black case. Opening it and turning it towards Kay, she would notice two small contact lenses with a unique shine to them.

"The Advanced Combat Lenses were designed for special forces and police units. Each lense is capable of connecting to a holoterminal hub, effectively giving them access to the Holonet as well as any other standard systems of the terminal. Calculations, scanners, etcetera." The Nemoidian stood up, placing the lenses over his own eyes while Asher moved to stand beside the Queen. The datapad in his hands was showing a live feed of what the Nemoidian Scientist was seeing. "You can see here it also has a fully functional Heads up Display, a Rangefinder, Nightvision, and even IFF frequency readers." As Asher spoke, the Doctor would blink and wink to show how the lenses would change from one setting to another.

"They give off a small signal, yet it's barely enough to be picked up unless you're looking for it. Your chances of someone just stumbling on it are nearly nonexistent. It also has up to fifteen minutes of holorecording at a time." He would hand the datapad over to Kay so that she could better see the capabilities of the lenses.

Kay gave a small smile and nod as [member="Asher Malvern"] commented on Commenor's beauty. With it's mountains and valleys, intermixed with waterways and cities, it was a well balanced planet where civilization and wilderness coexisted in harmony. And so did it's people. "Thank you. We do our best to keep it that way."

She sipped her tea once they had arrived at their destination. A brow was raised as Asher mentioned lenses. The only kind that Kay had used were coloured contacts to hide the corruption in her eyes. But there was no need to use them for years.

The lenses were unique to her, something that no other company had offered her before. Kay took the datapad and observed the displays that the lenses provided. "Recording? Is it merely visual, or is there a mic incorporated in there somewhere too?"

"You have to follow your own path."
The lenses we're functioning at perfect capacity. There had been a momentary glitch on the datapad but it was nothing to be noticed. As the Nemoidian Doctor looked over to Asher and Kay, he let off a set of rapid blinks. On the Datapad, Asher and Kay would be illuminated, their bodies highlighted by the HUD.

“The lenses function one of two ways. An intricate blinking system that scans the wearers natural blinks so it does not catch an accidental blink…. And a neural implant. A minor augmentation that allows the lenses to be mentally controlled.” As Kay continued to watch the datapad she inquired about the cameras ability to record sound. Asher very much spoke with his hands, making distinct motions while he explained the lenses further.

“No. The camera is capable of storing photos to the central terminal or recording for up to fifteen minutes. Adding an audio recording function would have pushed the lenses past it’s capacity. Perhaps something we will look into in the future, however for the private market we did not have the funding to expand on the audio/visual function.”

Asher glanced over to the Queen while gesturing to the lenses the nemoidian doctor wore. “What do you think?”

Kay squinted her eyes as she looked to Doctor Meisk's, trying to determine if she could notice the lenses. But she couldn't. They had blended well. She looked to the datapad again, seeing visuals of herself and [member="Asher Malvern"] , along with various bits of information provided by the holonet. It made her wonder if anyone that she had come across were also wearing them. And would it pick up on her in disguise? Or with her personal cloaking device switched on? All things to consider...

"I think that they'd be very useful for our police and security forces. Maybe even our special forces as well. How many do you have in stock?" It wasn't as though she wanted to buy the whole lot. But she'd need a few thousand pairs at least. Plenty of worlds in her care.

"You have to follow your own path."
When Lady Kay asked how many of the lenses Dynetech had on hand he glanced over to his human counterpart. Mr. Sol stepped forward, bringing his own datapd into his hands as he spoke to the Queen.

“For security reasons we cannot discuss how much stock we keep on hand. However, I assure you, we are capable of outfitting a few militaries and police forces with these lenses. Of course these are private market so their price will be considerable, but If you choose to take on a contract with us that will be very negotiable.” He stated, inclining his head to the Queen to show he was done.

Asher looked back to the Queen with a content expression before he tapped the datapad in her hands, softly. “These lenses have never been Mass-Produced. However, if you do take on a contract with us we can assure a steady supply to your forces.” Tucking his hands back into his pockets, Asher gestured to the Nemoidian scientist. “Doctor Meisk, thank you.” The man nodded with a content smile before removing the lenses from his eyes and placing them carefully back into the case they had arrived in. He would recover his datapad from the Queen before stepping back from the group.

“Are you ready to see the next device?” Asher asked, before looking to his staff. “Or did you have any further questions about the lenses?”

Kay looked over to Mr. Sol while he spoke, nodding her head with what he had to say. A smaller company might not have the resources for big purchase orders. But that was alright. She knew that they'd get there in time.

[member="Asher Malvern"] seemed to have reiterated that statement. Which was fine. It was better to have some people trained in them first before the lenses were handed out to everyone.

She handed Doctor Meisk his datapad, before looking to Asher once again. "I'm ready for the next one." Already she was quite impressed as they were showing her things that no other company has shown her before. It gave them another advantage when it came to gaining contracts.

"You have to follow your own path."
Once Kay indicated she was prepared to continue, Asher watched as Dr. Chaa'aak stepped forward without any needed indication. Clasping his hands over his waist once again, Asher began to speak. "A big need in the private sectors are weapons that can defend against the blade of a Jedi while still being something that can give them an edge in combat. Although melee weapons are not our specialty we believe we broke the mold with the weapon you are about to see."

The Wookie scientist gave off a low brief howl before pulling the bag in his hands up to his chest. From the bag, the Wookie produced three metallic cylinders. Each cylinder was covered with gold metallic rings and ran the width of the weapon. Asher and Kay would watch as the beast-like humanoid connected the cylinders until he held a polearm nearly two meters in length. "This is the Dynetech power staff. The staff itself comes with a thick coating of Phrik making it completely lightsaber and blaster resistant." The Wookie began to handle the polearm a bit, showing off it's exceptional weight and balance as he gave it a few practice twirls. "Not only can it stand up to a lightsaber, but it's devilishly light. Weighing under ten pounds it's one of the lightest melee weapons we have."

"Of course. I didn't bring you out here to show you a shiny stick." Asher said with an amused twinkle in his eye.

Asher would gesture to the staff with a flutter of his fingers before once again his hands would disappear inside of his pockets. The Wookie would take the polearm into his hands, pawing at it carefully for a moment before his hand ran over an activation pad on the weapon. In a brief flash, a low humming erupted from the weapon as it began to lose it's stiff form. Each of the golden circles would release a pules of energy, separating the rings. However, the staff did not fall to pieces, instead these electric rings were held together by some form of energy tether.

The Wookie would step back as he spun the whip-like staff in the air. Slamming it into the ground and leaving a devastating scar into the dirt below him.

"This staff is connected with several plasma energy binders. A bit like what you would see from a podracing vessel. These energy binders, mixed a powerful vibration generator allow the staff to be utilized as a whip." The Wookie would run his finger over the activation pad again and the energy binders would magnetize bag into a single staff. "It has it's shortcomings." Adron said, glancing over to Kay. "The whip function can only be used for sixty seconds before the energy binders have to be retracted for a maximum of five seconds. However it is resistant to EMP technology so it's not likely to be disabled in combat."

Kay took a sip of her tea as [member="Asher Malvern"] began his presentation for the next device. A brow was raised as he mentioned the Jedi as though they were an enemy. So far they weren't an enemy of hers. Even the Sith weren't as of yet. She was lucky in that way. All of her hard work and sacrifice had been paying off for the betterment of her people.

Her attention then turned to Dr. Chaa'aak as he displayed the power staff. He was clearly proud of it, perhaps even designed it himself. Kay watched with great interest, taking half a step back as he struck the ground with it. "That is...wow. I haven't come across anything like it." Already she was visualizing her personal guards and Palace security with them. Hmm. "I'm quite interested in purchasing some of those. Maybe a dozen or so. At least to begin with. And will training be included in the package? Or would they all just have to teach themselves?" Perhaps they merely came with an instruction manual. Who knows?

"You have to follow your own path."
It went without saying that Asher was pleased of the demonstrations up to this point. As the Wookie Doctor continued to toy with the capabilities of the Dynetech power staff, Asher began to answer the Queen’s questions.

“Queen Kay. We will discuss sales a bit later, however keep in mind that any products with exceptional materials like Phrik will be appropriately priced.”

She inquired about training to come with the weapons. Again, Asher seemed prepared for the question. “If you simply buy a shipment of any Dynetech Product they will only come with a very detailed operator’s manual. However, if you sign a contract with us, every product we sell you will come with an instructor on the device’s uses, shortcomings, and procedure. That instructor will be contracted out to you for six months so that you may have him train your own team of instructors on the weapon’s usage.” It was a generous deal, one geared towards encouraging contract signings obviously, but a generous one nonetheless.

“Doctor Chaa’aak, that’s enough, thank you.” The Wookie deactivated the energy binders, watching as the staff magnetized back into a singular weapon. He would work to disassemble it, and prepare it for storage once again.

“Well, I would say we’ve had a good start. Shall we move on to our final demonstration or do you have any other questions?”

Kay nodded a little. As some rulers might take offence at the manner of which [member="Asher Malvern"] was speaking to her, she did not. In fact it was common for some to put her in her place, as it were. And she didn't quite mind when it referred to topics that she knew little about.

Again she nodded at the generous deal being offered should she arrange a contract with his company. More often than not it was great companies that she liked to deal with, not just the products.

Kay gave a small smile as she watched Dr. Chaa'aak disassembling the product, taking little mental notes for herself on how it was handled. Her attention was then turned to Asher as he requested that they continue on. "Oh I can't imagine what you have next to show me. So please, continue."

"You have to follow your own path."
Once the Queen gave the indication that she was ready to proceed, the man smiled before speaking softly. "Well. Mr. Sol, if you please." Adjusting his tie, the fair skinned human stepped forward, a curious arch of the brow given to the Scientist. "Is this what you had planned? Now I see why you had me put these ridiculous things on." He said, letting out an amused chuckle before making his way in front of the Queen. Asher held a hand out to the Nemoidian Doctor, all the while speaking to the Commenori Queen. "Do not be alarmed. My colleague has a heavy blaster pistol in his possession, it is purely for the demonstration." He explained.

The Nemoidian produced a rather oblong blaster pistol, making his way over to Asher and handing the weapon to the man. "Thank you." Asher said, before turning his attention back to the Queen.

"Our next product is meant to preserve life. It is extremely light, durable, and portable. As you can see, Mr. Sol is wearing a suit and I'm not sure you've noticed the added defense yet." Asher turned to the lawyer, holding the blaster pistol up and firing a round aimed right for his chest. In a rapid movement, the blone haired human raised his left arm, bringing his forearm in front of his face.

A blue hue erupted from his forearm, and immediately materialized as a large disk with a hexagonal pattern. The blaster bolt slammed into the shield, however instead of dissipating or being sent into a ricochet the blaster bolt spread over the shield, leaving it a bit darker than it was before.

"Molecular shielding is often used in starships. It's the same concept here. The shields are capable of absorbing all forms of blaster and plasma fire and can even draw from a lightsaber. This is the Dynetech Molecular shield."

Kay raised a brow as she watched the weapon being handed over to [member="Asher Malvern"] from Sol. Don't be alarmed? All part of the demonstration? Well hopefully everything went according to his plans. Otherwise...

She studied the suit, now looking at it in such a way to try to detect the added defence to it. Yet she couldn't spot it. The suit itself looked rather...normal.

That is until it was fired upon. Just that one quick movement brought up a shield quite similar to what she had seen on starships. But this was much smaller and personal. Ohhh...she could use something like that on her light armour. Her other garments wouldn't suit it. But then that was what her umbrella was for.

"That's quite impressive. You certainly know how to take a concept and create something unique with it. I would be honoured to add Dynetech Industries to our list of contracted companies."

"You have to follow your own path."
The trials had all gone to plan and in the end the Queen of Commenor seemed impressed. Turning back to her and clasping his hands together, there was a soft shift as Mr. Sol released the shields and they reverted back into their emitter's.

"Thank you, Queen Kay." Asher said, offering a brief incline of the head before gesturing to his human counterpart.

"Ah, now the fun part." Mr. Sol said, making his way over to the Queen. He would outstretch a small business card with the Dynetech logo as well as his contract information, "Mr. Malvern prefers to not be present when the legal side of things comes into play. Like's to be kept separate from it all. So I will be your main point of contact for drawing up contracts, placing orders, and scheduling future demonstrations, is that acceptable your highness?" Sol was well spoken and rather slick as he addressed the Queen.

Asher had taken a step back, passing the blaster rifle off to the Nemoidian and sinking his hands into his pockets. "Also. Dynetech Industries is in the running to become the lead company of the Techno Union. If such an occurrence happens, we will be taking over Droid Manufacturing as well as Starship creations. Now, do you have any further questions for me, Your Highness?"

[member="Lady Kay"]

Kay took the business card from Sol, nodding to him as he explained about him being her sole contact for the remainder of this future transaction and contract. "Yes,
I believe that I can agree with that"
She was used to people being more hands-on, but to each their own. Not everyone worked in the same way.

She looked to [member="Asher Malvern"] , raising a brow slightly as he mentioned the Techno Union. It had been a long time since she had heard of them. Were they making a comeback? Or forever working in the shadows?

"I don't have anything further to ask. Thank you. You can choose to stay and tour around, or head off. I can imagine that you all would have plenty to do with little spare time." The demonstrations moved along like a well oiled machine. They could be used to handling quite a few a day. At least that was her assumption.
