Valery barely registered what he was saying, as she sat up and moved her hands to her hip. Under the cover he provided, she quickly pulled out the shrapnel, resulting in another cry of pain. But with the debris cleared from her body, she could tap into their bond to begin the healing process of her wound.
After a moment, she got up to her feet and placed a hand against Kahlil's back to signal she stood with him. in her other hand, she held an ignited lightsaber to deflect incoming fire from the rear. But it seemed the attackers were shifting their focus more to Kahlil, who had been the impenetrable shield for them thus far.
"We have to... get out of the...open," Valery said with some difficulty — a combination of the pain and focus on deflecting incoming bolts.
