"This isn't what you promised."

The small rodian in front of Sheva had the balls to look offended as the Dathomiri stared down at him. The man's green skin flushed with a thin sheen of amber as he brought his ever moist fingers to his chest. It was a gesture Sheva had seen across half a dozen worlds when Damos Quinn worked his charms on buyers. Victims would perhaps be more accurate, Sheva thought based on the prices the man charged.

"I promised to take you where you needed to go," Damos said, his galactic basic twinged with an Outer Rim drawl. He reached up, fluffing the overly large neck piece of his purple, green and yellow robes. "It was you, however, who failed to specify limitations on where that destination was."

"I didn't think I would have to tell you to avoid the karking capital of the High Republic," Sheva nearly screamed, her hair falling loose as she stomped a foot down against the durasteel landing bad. Damos grinned nervously as other spaceport goers looked their way. He stepped forward, gripping Sheva by her upper arm and turning her around and walking away from the busy stalls and hawking sellers. "They have Jedi here! You know what Jedi do to Nightsisters?"

"Sheva, those are just rumors. Well, mostly," he began, his voice low and warm, "My dear, you are a smart girl. You have been lost since you left Dathomir. Your money has run out and your...charming personality was not going to get you onto any other ships for free. You need to find your place and based on your talents when it comes to the art of the sale, it is not onboard merchant ships."

They came to a stop at the edge of the starport, and Sheva was almost placid in the man's hands as he turned her to face him. "You have that magic gift, Sheva. You wave your hand and objects fly at my head. You need a chance to learn to channel and control it before it controls you. Have I told you about that time I ran into the darned Sith off of..."

"Yes, I am well aware of your daring feats of bravery against the Sith," Sheva said, her voice tinged with a chuckle as she shook her head, glancing down at her feet.

The rodian nodded, puffing out his chest. "As you should be. The point of the matter, however, is that if you do not learn to control your gifts, they will, eventually, come to control you. Luckily for you, I just so happen to know a few people who are, in a word, boring, but they know their stuff. Ah, here comes one now," Damos finished, raising a hand and waving at an approaching figure.

The Light has diminished.

The Order has fractured.

And the Grandmaster does not walk with a skip in her step. Instead, she was limping towards the landing pad, cane aiding in her motion. The burden of an Order is disarray, and the broken heart she bore, it all weighed Ala down — leaving her bereft of the air of unfettered optimism that was her hallmark.

Despite looking to be in her late twenties, Ala was feeling her true age. All because there were certain things you could hug better.

And yet, despite it all, the Force still sung in her soul. And it tugged, pulled, almost needled her towards this specific location, on this specific day.

Wearing attire more akin to that of staff for the port, Ala made her way towards the newly arrived vessel. Her eyes fell on the Rodian. Port security had highlighted him as the ship's captain.

"Geetings Captain. Welcome to Naboo...do you have anything to declare upon entry?" Only now did her narrowing eyes drift to the young woman.

Damos gave a gracious bow as Ala approached, his hands coming up and clasping over his chest. “Oh indeed I do Master Jedi. A most special cargo indeed it is. May I introduce you to…” One of Damon’s hands shot out, gripping Sheva’s arm as she began to step away from the Jedi in front of her to hide in the crowd, “Sheva Azra, formerly of the Nightsisters of Dathomir and, as I have come to learn, a gifted student in your orders fancy Force magic.

The Force isn’t magic,” Sheva hissed, pulling her arm from the rodians grip. “What my clan does is magic. The Force is…the Force. It’s not the same.

Indeed,” Damos said in a voice that made his doubt abundantly clear. “Anyway, Sheva here is in need of accommodations and as my ship is full and she has run short of credits, I thought it best she come and see what the Jedi had to offer. My cousin is a Jedi you know, perhaps you know him? Big brute of a man named…

I don’t think the Jedi cares, and I don’t think they take in strays. Especially ones who can’t even use the Force…

Ala harrumphed. She had worked on her 'customs official' look to try and pass as staff, but clearly had been obviously still too Jedi Grandmaster-y. With a sigh, she let the disappointed roll away.

"The Force isn't magic," she said at the same time as the Dathomirian girl. Though Ala was decidedly more forgiving in her tone.

Listening to the interchange between the two, Ala could only smile. The presuppositions of the young one were...wrong, of course, but they were revealing.

"Strays? The Jedi do, indeed, take in strays. I was one! And as for the Force...I would not be so hasty in your self-assessment."

Limping to the young woman's side, she beckoned her to join her on a walk with a gentle wave of the hand.

"Come. Walk with me. My name is Ala," she said with a warm smile, "please. Tell me about yourself."
