A Blip On The Radar

Brium Tallistor opened his eyes, exhaling as he disconnected from the presence of his dark counterpart.

"I come here today with a dilemma I should have solved many years ago. In my youth, I was corrupted by the power of the Dark Side; my partner in killing was a powerful Kel Dor named Ord Mantell. Now, he is known as Darth Mortus. In our younger days we were dispatched to many force-imbued locations to impede dark Jedi and rogue force users from taking artifacts before we did."

"I am concerned. Many Sith holocrons have gone missing, as well as the force energy residing in the planets. My fear is Darth Mortus. He's collecting powerful artifacts and using an old force technique to transfer power to himself. I believe he is siphoning and hoarding this power for an unknown goal. And I believe he is teaching other young Sith this ability. I need a group of Jedi to aid me in ending his influence. The man is very powerful."

"I have gained this intel through a connection. Many years ago Ord betrayed me after we came across the soul of a Master, bonded to a force artifact. When he attempted to strike me down, we were both rendered inert. Afterwards, I woke up with deep scars and a mind-link to Mantell. I don't know where he is, but I can sense his presence. And it is far stronger, every day."

The sound of the man speaking as she stood there, tall, flowing mane and wings tucked in tight to her side. Serana was ready for anything and this was a strange tale she would want to see through. "Hmm well I can only offer some help if needed. I have a few talents." She said it stepping forward and looking around at the room they were in. His story was interesting and she liked meeting new people plus it wasn't often that she got to stretch her legs as the large jedi master shook her head.

Artifact collection. Sith Hunting. Jyoti's bread and butter as a Shadow.

She had been presented with an opportunity for both as a mysterious stranger had shown up on the doorsteps of Silver Rest seeking aid against a Sith Lord at the end of a strange story detailing their connection.

"It is possible that we could tap into your bond with this Darth Mortus to track him down if more details about your last encounter could be provided," she offered. "However, what of this source? Have they provided any leads that we could follow in search of the Sith?"

"It's a given that if I delve further into this link, I would be able to pinpoint where he is. However, he would be able to mirror this effect. I cannot compromise the security of this enclave."

Brium stroked his beard.

"I wonder if perhaps I could set a trap. Try this somewhere remote in the Outer Rim and wait for him to come. He truly is as desperate as I am to kill the other. But I must warn you. This is no ordinary Sith, but a Lord. His mastery of the dark side and transfer essence is apparent. If you are compromised, he will drain your life force and end you."

She looked at him and gave her version of a shrug. "So he is like every other sith we have faced that when defeated just moves to a new body and laughs." She said it plainly while looking at him and at the shadow who was here as well They didn't really have a lot but the place was something nice. "As to places to set a trap there are plenty, we have entire teams that restore temples and just as easily I am sure they could make a cage from the biot jelly those stealth ships have. Nothing like a force dead box to trap a spirit in until you get the soul crystals ready."

"A wise master once said 'do not underestimate the power of your enemy, lest you suffer their same fate'." Brium scowled.

"I can see through you, young Jedi." His silver eye gleaned.

"You think you deserve a title of respect because you have studied in depth? You are brash and youthful in nature, and as such a liability. I may have gone through these trials decades before you were born, but I remember swearing the same oath of unity. Follow the code."

He turned and looked at Jyoti.

"I fear he is storing dark side energy into some case of his own design. When I knew him, he was devoted to the idea of assuming power through endless archives and remnants of past Sith."

"Huh, where did I underestimate them? I have stated the obvious, we've faced sith like this more often then most. Most of the time in fact they attack and bypass the entire defensive force of a planet with little effort. We've become used to being the underdog as it were in a fight... and we're still standing. We face things like this weekly, it is not something new or well intimidating anymore. We know for a fact if we defeat a sith... they are going to come back in a new body in a week. We know if we lose a jedi, lose a friend or mentor they are going to come back within a week as a servant of the darkside. It is known," She continued to look at him and remained neutral. This was interesting but they faced this with almost every new sith who revealed himself to the jedi, big bag and powerful.... able to do fantastical feats. The emperor himself just swapped bodies weekly it seemed for the fun of it and had died several times but he lived and continued on same as a number of others who served him.

Much like Serana, the Shadow had an abundance of experience engaging Sith of Mortus' caliber, but she was not so quick to dismiss the words of the stranger. Every challenge was different and so required its own unique response.

"Let's not lose focus," she said, cutting back into the conversation. "The location of the Silver Rest is already public knowledge, but I agree that we shouldn't risk attracting a powerful Sith like that here if we can help it."

"I know a credible location where we can set a trap: Odacer-Faustin. It contains the ruins of an ancient Sith Academy that's seen some renewed use here and there since its initial establishment. Probably cleaned out by now, but if we gave the appearance that there was something of value still there, with you looking for it, then I think that should be enough to lure out Mortus."

"What do you think?" she asked, addressing both Serana and the stranger.

The masters were speaking and Charlie knowing her place as a Padawan remained quiet through it all. Listening to the story and the sudden desire to create a trap in the outer rim. If he had this thought out before coming here why didn’t he go and do it? Listening to him chastise Serena made her hands clench at her side. He came for help yet talked down to someone who was open to helping. Everything that came from his lips made Charlie reserve her trust. Things didn’t add up in her mind, but she looked towards her Master who seemed interested in the idea of setting a trap for the Sith Lord the stranger spoke of.

Her master was smart and brought reason to the table. Having the stranger linger here for too long would draw the Sith here. As much as they could defend Silver Rest, bringing danger to the doorstep of home was never the wisest of choices. As Charlie continued to focus on keeping her mouth shut, her hand fumbled in the fold of her Padawan robes. She found was she was searching for and shoved the half-eaten cookie into her mouth doing her best to chew quietly. When she finished, she remembered reading something about trapping souls, although it was a Sith Ritual, there had to be something that the Jedi could do to stop this body jumping Sith Lord from escaping.

Peering up to her Master, Charlie spoke, “Master, is it possible to trap the Sith Lord’s soul to prevent him from transferring essence? From my understanding – transferring essence still leaves the soul in a vulnerable state till another host can be found.” She paused and brushed the crumbs from the front of her robes, then continued. “I know there is an ancient Sith Ritual to trap souls, I think it was called a Thought bomb…do the Jedi have any ability to do something like that?”

Brium did a double take.

"Thought bomb? A thought bomb would not help in the aid of trapping a single soul successfully. Think of past uses of the thought bomb. Sith Lord Vitiate...specifically, Darth Bane's in the Valley of the Jedi. A hundred Jedi led by the Jedi Lord Hoth to stop Bane, in the peak of the Jedi's Army of Light. Those guys would hand us our tails if they were still around today. True warriors. And did they succeed? No."

"Their souls were extinguished in a vacuum. A thought bomb is typically a last-ditch method by the Sith to purge a war-torn planet full of force-sensitives by hellfire when they lose. There is said to be only one successful thought bomb in history. And it took centuries upon centuries after the event for a Jedi to free the trapped souls there. And it doesn't just kill Jedi. It's a suicide method that kills all force users present."

Brium cringed as if he had seen it himself.

"Odacer-Faustin sounds fine. I would bear this task alone, but I cannot bear to fail. There is too much at stake." Brium paused, disrupted by a scratching inside his mind. He focused, peeling back layers until the pervading image was clear. He saw the cold clammy Kel Dor hands close around a designed pyramid, a book by it's side. He retracted, closing the link.

"I believe Mortus is building some form of Dark Side Nexus, supplied by the life forces of powerful sensitives to amplify the power of all Sith across the galaxy. Mortus wants to cause a second Hundred Year Darkness."

Tide Bringer (Protector of Mon Cala)
Tyluko had been walking the grounds of the Silver Rest, enjoying the peace and tranquility around him. He eventually walked past a group of his fellow Jedi talking to some cloaked man. He at first thought nothing of it, but when he heard the stranger mention something about a Dark Side Nexus, he suddenly did a double take. As he listened in on the conversation he could sense the anxiety welling up within the stranger as the man continued to elaborate about some Kel Dorian darksider.

Tyluko wondered if their was anything he could do to help. He may only hold the rank of Padawan but he was confident in his ability to help. Tyluko walked up to the group and leaned up against a pillar, further listening to the stranger. He nodded to his fellow Jedi as he walked up to the group.

She was listenign to it and Jyoti had a decent idea for a trap. as far as she knew there was nothing much on that world left. THey had visited it before and met a species that wanted to be left alone. That preferred it actually, the batosai were ice creatures and while friendly enough not to attack didn't really welcome you with open arms. Might be best to tell them if you were going to bring someone to the world.... THen a padawan spoke about a thought bomb and the spirit. She wasn't going to judge her, it was meant for her to learn so having questions about things was welcomed. She didn't know about the soul crystals that the jedi used. THey had an entire unit for it after all thanks to how many spirits they had encountered same as powerful sith lords. The other part she was listening to was the approaching padawan who seemed familiar and talk of how a galaxy wide nexus was being cracfted and she kind of turned her head wondering if sich a thing was possible... well maybe but making a nexus in a temple was hard enough and took a lot of power. Making one on a planet required something akin to glassing all of it and a galaxy wide one. You'd have to do something on such a scale it could make the most powerful sith lords pale and blush because they suddenly were not able to measure up. "Welcome padawan." She said it turnign to look at [member="Tyluko Dubykee"] with a bow of her head.

(Wew, sorry for the delay. Hope I didn't lose anyone.)

Charlie made a good point about the need to entrap the Sith spirit to prevent a repeat of events, but then suggested a thought-bomb as a means to do it. Jyoti raised an eyebrow at that solution, but the stranger chimed in before she could say anything. Satisfied with his response, she didn't feel a need to follow up on his explanation of the technique, but she did like the idea that Charlie had.

"A thought-bomb isn't what we're looking for here, but there is a myriad of methods to entrap the Sith, with as something as simple as a stasis field."

The stranger agreed to her plan. Now all that was to recon the planet and temple to set the trap.

"My name is Jyoti Nooran, by the way," she said, finally introducing herself. "Let's see if we can't help you with this Sith. On our end, I'll need about a day to gather a unit before we move out."

(We can do a small time skip after the next round of comments. If I don't see any within the next day or two, then I'll skip to the site of the trap.)

She had a look and bowed her head. "I'll contact the Vashton, they are trained to handle sith spirits and capture them. THey'll have more then enough equipment for us to use." She said it but was curious about the rest of the plan, trapping a sith on a planet and then getting the spirit would be something they would have to do carefully and the world suggested would be equally as dangerous.
