99 Problems [CIS Dominion of Adarlon]

A P E X
Character
Belrand, Adarlon
When the Galaxy fell victim to the virus known as the Gulag Plague, one of the worlds hit the hardest was known as Adarlon. Situated in the Outer Rim, t'was a world whose primary industry was that of entertainment and tourism; and with the borders of each and every galactic government closed, Adarlon fell into a downward spiral of the likes it had never seen. Now, hundreds of years later, the world is slowly, but surely, recovering; and this day it would play host to the Confederacy of Independent Systems. The purpose of their visit was simple: to extend to them an invitation to join their growing community, and to offer aid as best they can.

The initial meetings between the planetary leadership and the Confederacy had gone well, and had revealed enough of the planet's issues that the nation would be able to offer sufficient aid whilst the final discussions took place. The Templars and the CIS military would work hand in hand in order to accomplish a number of vital tasks. First and foremost, the daughter of the planet's leadership had gone missing and was last seen playing within the mouth of an abandoned mine. Search parties had, of course, been dispatched; but they too had turned up missing!

Next, a Spice Den had become rather notorious in the underbelly of the capital city. It fell upon the shoulders of the Confederacy to infiltrate this sordid establishment in order to investigate rumors of a slaver ring utilizing the "business" as a cover for their dealings. On another note, while the virus of old was nowhere to be found, the viruses of the present were running rampant! As such, the Archon of the Templar Order had been called to, first, meet with the planetary leadership before establishing a Sanctuary in order to assist the ailing masses accordingly.

Finally, the engineers of the Confederacy had their hands full; for they were to put their heads together with some of the brighter minds of the world in order to devise a solid means of containing the nation's criminals behind bars. Needless to say, the CIS had its work cut out for it that day!

Stepping off her ship Feena had to take a second. Leaning slightly against the ship, she took a deep steadying breath. She was still tired. Still. Even after a month. Healing the Grand Marshal had just about killed her. It had certainly drained her. She couldn't even remember what happened after. People tell her she passed out and just didn't wake up. That was embarrassing. All she knew was that she woke up a week later, sore, weak and quite hungry.
It was a miracle that the baby had survived. That was all she could think of. She hadn't really considered it before. Hadn't even thought of it on Utapau. She had been far too busy to even think about her condition. Realizing what she had done now, how she had endangered herself and the baby like that...
Keter would be furious with her if he found out.

Catching her breath at last, Feena stood up straight, smoothed out the wrinkles in her long travelling dress, pushed a stray curl back into place and started forward. This would be the start of it. This would be her legacy.

All she had to do now was meet with the planets leader.

Extreme fatigue was not something that the Mandalorian had expected to witness on the part of the famous Feena Mason, especially since he had worked alongside her numerous times before. She was the definition of strength, and to see her like this was nothing short of unsettling. He had made it a point to keep tabs on all that transpired in Confederate space, in particular the affairs of the new Archon and a certain smuggler; and it was the news about all that had transpired on Utapau that had drawn the Sith Apprentice to the world of Adarlon.

Put simply, he was there to help, as best he possibly could. As such, only seconds after the Archon disembarked from the vessel, the beskar-clad warrior was a step behind her, placing a hand upon her shoulder. "I'm here if you need me." he said simply. Mountains of support were laid atop those simple words, and he lingered by her side in that moment. There he would stand, from this point forward: by the side of the woman he looked up to.

For a world once famed for its flair and fashion, the center of government was the definition of humble. A modest spire rose out of an urban sprawl, with a series of landing pads strewn about. It was upon one of these many, upper landing pads that the Archon and her Mandalorian assistant had landed; and it was here that the procession of leadership would make themselves known. Automated doors to the facility slid open, admitting a single, ornately-dressed individual flanked by a pair of bodyguards onto the platform.

While poised, there was a hint of anxiousness which characterized his steps. This was not caused by the fact that he was nervous of the impending meeting; not in the slightest! This was due to the fact that the President was worried for his daughter, lost and alone in a mine. He had exhausted every resource to recover her, and now left it in the Confederacy's capable hands to bring her home safe and sound. So, with nothing left to do, he had agreed to meet with the Archon in order to discuss a pressing matter. There was sickness ravaging his world, one characterized by flu-like symptoms.

He had heard the tales of the Archon's prowess with the healing arts, and as such hoped that she would be able to help. He was willing to assist her in any way possible in order to bring upon the liberation of his people from this illness.

"Welcome, Archon Mason." he said with a bow, "Welcome to Adarlon!"

If Feena had been told when she was seventeen, that she would have a Sith worrying about her, she would have backed away. Slowly. because up until she was 18,she had bought into that garbage about Sith being murderers by nature.

"I'm here if you need me."

"Of course. Thank you, but I am fine. Honestly."

It was a lie, of course, but a convincing one. She was a pretty good liar. If she wanted to, she could make you think her favorite color was green, when in fact it was lilac.

Doors slid open and a intricately dressed man stepped out to greet them, and his body guards too, of course. Feena had a quick thought that she really aught to invest in some herself. Guards, that is. She was too reckless to trust herself not to, well, die. It was why she often chose to travel with Keter, before joining the CIS. If she didn't have a companion, she was likely to jump into something dangerous to help people. For such a smart woman, she could sure be stupid sometimes.

"Welcome, Archon Mason. Welcome to Adarlon!"

Feena dipped into a low, well practiced bow. Her ankles shook as she dipped, but she did not fall, did not wobble. This was something that she had been too well trained to fail doing, even in heels. One of the perks of being raised nobility. The way one bowed before a superior could speak volumes about ones intentions.

"It is an honor."

The Mandalorian now known as Dar'jetii was, by no means, a prophet. However, he was perceptive enough that he could smell a steaming pile of poodoo a mile away. This was one of those moments; for while the Archon claimed to be fine, her ankles shook the moment she rendered her bow. A soft sigh escaped the young man's lips and he simply regarded the President with a respectful nod of his head, remaining close enough to the Archon's side that she may discreetly utilize him as a means of righting herself without losing a shred of dignity. He was there to support her, both literally and metaphorically.

"Well met excellency. I am Dar'jetii, a pleasure." He said.

Once the words had escaped his lips, he awaited the response of the President. Though he spoke no words to Feena, he hoped she realized that he wouldn't be leaving her side this day... and that he would probably be there whenever she called (or didn't call).

"No, no, the honor is all mine! Thank you so much for coming!" came the eager response of the President. Once the greetings had been issued, the ornately-dressed individual motioned for the pair to follow behind him, before turning on his heel and entering the compound. Upon entering, the heat of the day would be blasted away by a rush of cool, conditioned air. The leader of Adarlon did not have his guests tread far; for the landing pad they had been cleared to utilize was that adjacent to his private office.

It was decorated with trinkets, odds, and ends. His desk was cluttered with exotic pieces of "art", and so were the walls. It was apparent that he was just as flashy as the world was once reputed to be; much to the contrast of his governing center's appearance. Upon entering his office, the President took his place in his seat and was once more flanked by his bodyguards. He then motioned for the Archon to have a seat before him.

"Let's get down to business! I do believe you wanted to build what you described as a Sanctuary? Could you tell me about it?"

Oh music, sweet music was the sound of a droid battalion marching across the rocks leading up to the mouth of the mine. Nocturno scanned the cold rocks, his ice blue eyes taking analysis of the surrounding area. As far as he could tell, at the current moment, there were no hostiles in the immediate area which was not exactly surprising. Nocturno had only been sent down to find some silly girl who had gotten lost in the mines, normally no one would care too much and the local police would and fire brigades would be dealing with the situation. However, some vital facts made this mission very worrisome to the cybornetic warrior. The girl who had gone missing was the daughter of the president of Adarlon. The president had sent a search team before the Confederacy's arrival, details weren't shared but the General would be surprised if they sent anything less than a special forces detachment.

There are some things that just don't happen in this galaxy, droids don't get body odor and special forces detachments and armed security details just don't vanish into thin air. Something had happened to those men and Nocturno wasn't taking any chances, that's why he brought so many droids. The cyborg turned to face his 'men', picking three squads, thirty droids, out of the battalion and motioning them forward "You are coming with me, the rest of you wait for any...surprises."

It had only been a month following the Grand Marshal's near demise on Utapau. If not for the quick and efficient work of Feena Mason, the clone would have been swimming in the afterlife with his old friend, Zev Stargo. Genesis was not back to one-hundred percent, and his body was scarred from the events of that day, but he was well enough to journey to the surface of Adarlon in order to assist in a retrieval mission. He felt as though, despite the missing persons' reports, that he could handle this operation; especially since he'd be working alongside Nocturno and his own squads of Black Watch personnel.

After a few minutes of disembarking from drop ships and mustering outside the mines, the Grand Marshal regarded the High Marshal with a respectful nod. While they were not yet "friends", the clone had a high respect for the Cyborg and was immensely grateful to be on the same side as he.

"We'll give it a few more minutes for our additional forces to arrive, then enter. Any who come after our initial advance can cover the rear. Sound good?"

The planets leader was a little over eager. It caught Feena by surprise. was it truly going to be this simple?

The Presidents office was not the standard cold, neat and tiny thing that Feena had back at the base. No. This was the office of someone who truly enjoyed the finer things. Expensive things. But they were bright, exotic. He was cultured, although a little eccentric. A man with family, and love for that family.

Although Feena could tell these things just from looking around at his office (and wardrobe) Feena had, of course, done a tiny bit of research herself on the man. It helped to know who you were meeting with. It gave you the advantage.

Feena waited until her host had seated himself before taking a seat as well- as courtesy demanded.

"Let's get down to business! I do believe you wanted to build what you described as a Sanctuary? Could you tell me about it?"

She waited for her current 'gaurdian', @[member="Dar'jetii"], to sit as well, before launching into her explanation.

"Sanctuary is what it sounds like. Simply put, it is a program designed to rehabilitate, teach, and heal.
There are many parts of Sanctuary. One part is for the housing and care of refugees. We take them in and teach them to rebuild. Another part is a source of education and schooling for those who are unable, or can not afford to advance themselves. Then there is the orphanage. So many children left homeless and alone, will finally have a safe and secure place to learn and grow, until they are either adopted or old enough to enter the Galaxy on their own.
And, of course, medicine is my specialty, so Sanctuary will provide healing and treatment to all who need it.
In other words, it is a program designed to clean up the mess."

A blunt way to put it, but Feena was not overly fond of sugar coating the obvious..

Nocturno watched as the shuttles landed and the Grand Marshal disembarked, the clone was interesting to say the least. Nocturno held him in high regard, as any military man would hold their superior officers. The cyborg was neither impressed or unimpressed with the man, he just worked for him and that was life. Nocturno took a few steps forward and, without warning, a few rocks gave way under his feet and a massive jolt of pain rode up his leg and into his back. The cyborg fell to one knee and grunted heavily in immense pain, his organic body was a mangled abomination and even the slightest mishaps caused the cyborg great pains sometimes. If he had the right amount of sedatives, he could deal with the pain but it often caused him his mental capacity. Let's face it, if you pump enough sedatives into yourself to put down a wookiee you weren't going to be very reliable.

The cyborg fought through the pain, standing up and looking at the Grand Marshal "Yes sir, a very sound plan."

Upon being invited into the President's office, the Mandalorian was immediately caught off-guard by the sheer number of trinkets littering the place. He, personally, was a man characterized by simplicity and order; and this office was a stark contrast to all that he appreciated in life. Nonetheless, the beskar-clad warrior kept his thoughts to himself and lowered himself into a chair, silently listening as the Archon bore her idea to the President. While blunt, it was as if he were hearing a mother presenting her baby for consideration for some large role; and the Mandalorian was certain that the Archon placed quite a high value on the Sanctuary.

"Needless to say," admonished Dar'jetii, "the Sanctuary would prove to be that which solves a number of that which ails this world."

In the skies, a few more dropships came flying down to the rendezvous point. It seemed to be about 6 of them, each one carrying soliders of the 117th Harbinger. Leading them, as usual, was Captain Sonja Mercier. Sonja had already been briefed on the situation and was prepared to execute the mission as best she can, "This is Sonja Mercier of the 117th, requesting permission to land Grand Marshal." Sonja said into her commlink to the Grand Marshal of the CIS.

The President was silent whilst he heard the words that the Archon and the Mandalorian spoke. It was no secret that Adarlon was in dire straights. The planet was currently being plagued by a disease that was claiming lives, there were problems in the "lower classes", and much much more... that could all be solved by the Sanctuary. He did not want to come off as desperate, but the Archon held the keys to the world's salvation; for treating that which ailed the people would thereby cause Adarlon to live better, and stronger!

With a smile, he nodded.

"The Sanctuary could prove immensely useful to helping the people of Adarlon...However, I must know what it'll cost to erect one."

The Grand Marshal was no stranger to the predicament which characterized the daily life of the High Marshal of the Confederacy's Greater Droid Army. Ever since his recovery, Genesis had learned of, and pitied the existence of Nocturno; but he never allowed the Cyborg to know. Furthermore, he did not allow his actions to betray any sense of pity, for that would only serve to strain things between the men. In any case, the armor-clad clone regarded his subordinate with a nod once more and motioned for his Black Watch personnel to approach the mouth of the mines.

Then came the transmission from the Captain of the 117th Recon, Sonja Mercier. Having heard her request to land, the clone opened up a line of direct communication to the woman and responded in turn.

"You're just in time Captain. Permission granted. We'll wait for you to join us before getting this party started."

Shorurra had been ordered to investigate the daughter of Aldaron's president, who was last seen in a mine. THIS mine to be exact. He couldn't possibly fathom what kind of security force would let her wander into the mine but that was no longer an issue. The issue was that highly trained teams were dispatched to find the poor lass and went missing too. This is the more disturbing piece of information. What kind of force was waiting for them in that mine? When Shorurra's speeder landed he unfolded himself from the craft and strode over to Nocturno and Rostu, with his gear bag clanging on his shoulder. He groaned a greeting to Nocturno and held out his hand to Genesis, a man he greatly respected. Shorurra never worked or heard of the cyborg before but if he was here then Rostu respected his skills. That was good enough for the Wookie. Shorurra gave a rumbly moan, asking if the Grand Marshal's recovery had gone well.

Feena tried not to smile at her companions comment about sanctuary. It made her proud. So proud of her 'baby'. Sanctuary was a dream of hers for years, and it was finally coming to life right before her eyes.

"The Sanctuary could prove immensely useful to helping the people of Adarlon..."
-Feena could feel another question hanging off the edge of that sentence-
"However, I must know what it'll cost to erect one."

Ah yes. The cost. Feena knew it would come to this. She smiled finding it difficult to keep the weariness she felt off of her face.

"Sanctuary has already received generous donations from some of the Galaxies most powerful and wealthy companies," she explained, clearing her throat awkwardly before continuing, "I also have.... connections to the wealthy noble classes and have been pledged generous donations from individuals as well. A good bit of my own time, energy and credits have gone into this project, but it is impossible for me to do it all on my own. Sanctuary, as I have always planned from the beginning, will mostly run off of donations. whether that be donated time, resources or credits."

Enter the Grand Marshal's favorite Wookie, who he had not seen in quite some time. His rumbling groans of greetings and concern were a refreshing change of pace for the clone, and while his face was veiled behind his helmet, Genesis was smiling. He reached out and clasped the Wookie's hand with his own and gave it a firm shake. "Shorurra! I'm glad you could make it... My recovery has gone well, Mrs. Mason has done an exceptional job of patching me up. However, there are scars and pain every now and then; but that's to be expected. In any case, we're about to go in, just waiting on our Snipers to arrive."

Aedan Miles sat in one of the two shuttles heading in bound from the small armada that had came to the planet. The Corsairs job was to infiltrate the Spice Den and once things were found out the squad of Cragmoloids fully armed and armored would rush to join them. Two Cragmoloids armed with pistols and Vibro Axes would be acting as Aedan's security detail as Vice, Mirshen, and himself all headed into the spice den. The plan was for Vice and Mirshen to slip away and look around while Aedan Bought, not really but needed a cover, spice. They would then be joined by members of the Phantom Corps would would assist them in clearing out the spice den. Aedan wore a flight suit over his Iron Skin and his violet hair brushed off to the side. He was also starting to sport a goatee. Sadly the goatee wasn't violet it was actually black which was Aedan's natural hair color.

Once they landed Aedan activated his com "This is Captain Miles to the Grand Marshal. Corsairs are begining our infiltration stand by for more info." With that he nodded to his men as they all stepped off of the shuttle and the two hulking Cramoloid clones, Beautiful thing about Aedan's ground forces they were all clones and flash trained for combat and to be loyal to him, took up their postions flanking him. They both stood at 9 feet 10 inches tall weighing 410 pounds and most of it muscle. They both had 2 foot long tusks that they could use as weapons as well as the massive blaster pistols strapped to their waists and armor.

Fine print.

This was something that the Mandalorian could live without, but it was one of those things that came with every business transaction. In this case, the fine print was Feena enlightening the President on that which the Sanctuary would cost. It was to be a donation-driven entity, which would work if the hearts of those in the Galaxy were willing to give; however, there were always greedy souls in the stars, especially in the Dirty South.

"If I may add, Mr. President. The Sanctuary also has the full support of the Confederacy of Independent Systems. The Grand Marshal himself has voiced support of this endeavor numerous times, and as such the cost for Adarlon will be minimal at best. I think... the primary thing we'd need is a facility? Is that right Mrs. Mason?"
