OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Unit Name: 22nd Provisional Commando Company - "The Stormriders"
  • Affiliation: Silver Jedi Concord
  • Classification: Special Forces
  • Description: The 22nd Provisional Commando Company is a temporary amalgamation of special forces troopers whose worlds were overrun by the Bryn'adul Covenant. Under the leadership of the quiet but capable Major Tyias, these toughened warriors were re-equipped with top of the line equipment from Lucerne Personal Defense and underwent some additional training to standardize doctrine and use of their new gear. With plenty of motivation to strike back at those who ruined their worlds, the soldiers of the 22nd specialize in infiltrating areas to sabotage equipment or abduct personnel to drag them back to base for interrogation.
COMBAT INFORMATION:
  • Unit Size: Medium
  • Unit Availability: Unique
  • Unit Experience: Elite
  • Equipment:
All Troops: Akk Dog-class Security Operations Power Armor with Neti Field Cloaks
Strengths:
  • Elite Fighters The members of the 22nd are almost universally survivors not only of hardened special forces units, but frequently from cataclysmic events that wracked their worlds when the Bryn'adul invaded. Not only are the members of the 22nd excellent marksmen, but most are experienced and trained in deadly martial arts such as Broken Gate or K'thri - techniques that are only more devastating given their use of power armor.
  • Infiltrators: The 22nd is almost universally well-equipped with silenced weapons, active camouflage cloaks, nagnol gas grenades, and squad level communications and sensor jammers. These technologies combined with competent fieldcraft based on the use of psychological ruses and extensive use of terrain to conceal themselves can make them more difficult to detect than average soldiers.
  • Demolitions Team: The 22nd has a high focus in using a variety of explosives and some impromptu demolition techniques. While there is a demolition specialist in each squad, other members of the fire teams are also cross-trained on the basic use of not only their team's explosives, but many common explosives and volatile substances found throughout the galaxy.
Weaknesses:
  • What do you mean tanks? The 22nd is not equipped with direct fire heavy weapons for conventional combat against enemy vehicles, starships, and heavier battle droids. This can make them vulnerable if they discovered by such assets during their primary missions.
  • Fractious: The 22nd is drawn from a wide variety of cultures and units, many of which have fallen to the Bryn'adul horde. There are few commonalities among the men aside from a personal hatred of the Bryn'adul, and because of the haphazard nature of their formation there are frequent disagreements and misunderstandings within the ranks. Loyalty among them frequently is at the squad level and few have long-term trust and loyalty to their leadership.
  • Small Numbers: The 22nd is a traditional company-sized element, numbering no more than roughly 144 men at any time - a pittance in conflicts that involve millions of men.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION
The 22nd Provisional Commando Company was formed from the scattered survivors of dozens of special forces and special operations groups from worlds that fell to the Bryn'adul onslaught into the galaxy. These hardened and frequently vengeful survivors were thrown together under the leadership of Major Tyias for several training exercises in the Shadowlands of Kashyyyk during which they were gradually requipped and trained with new weapons and technologies. While most grunts perfected their fieldcraft skills during these exercises, Tyias ironed out a command structure and basic doctrine with the field officers and senior NCOs that emphasized taking advantage of natural phenomena to help infiltrate locations before rapidly bringing down converging strikes with overwhelming local superiority to secure objectives. While not intended to be a permanent formation, it would appear that the Stormriders will likely remain a unit until most of their homeworlds can be liberated from the Bryn'adul.
