OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Unit Name: 16th Company, 501st Legion
  • Affiliation: New Imperial Order
  • Classification: Shock Troopers, special forces.
  • Description: An elite unit of special forces composed entirely of Mandalorians. 16th company, or “sweet sixteens” by some, serves a variety of roles alongside the infamous 501st legion of the New Imperial Order. In times of open war, they serve as airborne shock troopers to lead and support in the vanguard with heavy armour and powerful weapons. Other times the 16th company operates as special forces in small groups to complete sensitive missions.

As Mandalorians, individuality and personal effects can be expected in operation and appearance, but as an imperial unit they are expected to be professional soldiers, not a group of armoured brutes thrown together. In accordance with this view, 16th company follows the official ranking system of the Imperial armed forces for its units. Force using Mandalorians are allowed into the unit within limits. Alignments have to be abandoned in accordance with the principle of the Imperial Knights and the Force is to be another tool in a soldier’s arsenal. Outsiders are allowed into the unit in dire situations when losses mount too high and the company is severely depleted on troops. Those that serve long enough can undergo trials to become full-fledged Mandalorians.
COMBAT INFORMATION:
  • Unit Size: Medium
  • Unit Availability: Uncommon
  • Unit Experience: Elite.
  • Equipment:
  • Combat Function: Primarily shock troopers, 16th company tends to utilize Mandalorian tactics in conjunction with the tactics used by the NIO. They deploy in the vanguard with jetpacks or on the backs of Basilisk war droids to attack from above with overwhelming heavy firepower before pushing forward, either in the air or on the ground.

When going on covert operations in situational circumstances, they utilize stealthy and inconspicuous tactics to keep a low profile. Weapons and armour will also be outfitted to suit this requirement.

As the slogan implies, creativity and improvisation is expected and encouraged. The company must be able to complete any mission or objective to the letter, no matter what obstacles they might encounter.
Strengths:
  • Elite: 16th Company is comprised of highly trained Mandalorians and equipped with excellent equipment in order to complete any mission.
  • Hardy: The troops are tough and fierce with an unbreakable will and fearless attitude.
  • Blitzkrieg: Flexible and fast, 16th company can move quickly over the battlefield to overwhelm or blindside their enemy by any means necessary.
Weaknesses:
  • Rare: With the dwindling numbers of Mandalorians in the galaxy, training and fielding fresh troops to replenish their numbers is difficult.
  • Difficult: A unit of Mandalorians will likely not be the most open-minded or easiest of people to work with all the time.
  • Small: Only a company of soldiers, no more than 200 troops at most. Even the fierce Mandalorian warriors can be overwhelmed and snuffed out if not supported by other units.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION

Created out of the 16th SOM Expeditionary Force, the 16th Company came into being at the end of the Third Imperial Civil War in 867ABY. As the martial skill of Mandalorians remained valued and legendary, the offer had been extended to those already in service of the New Imperial Order under the 16th Expeditionary to stay on in service alongside the 501st Legion as a fully militarised and specialised unit.

The slogan “We make the rules” stems from the unit’s insistence to be flexible in order to complete whatever mission the NIO sets for them. Whether it be spearheading first contact with the enemy, or to surgically complete special operations in the shadows on occasion.

They could be described by some as xenophobic with their hesitance to let non-Mandalorians join and serve in their unit, as well as their strict requirements for force users.
