OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
  • Intent: To add a new playable race I can try to commit to and develop through story and RP

GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Name: Singular: Özemi, Plural: Özeminar, Adjective: Özeminar
  • Designation: Sentient
  • Origins: An unknown and lost homeworld named Üyar that was destroyed either by or during the gulag plague.
  • Average Lifespan: 40 standard years. (1-5 Child, 6-10 Young Adult, 11-30 Adult, 30+ Senior)
  • Estimated Population: Scattered
  • Description: Özeminar resemble four-armed reptilian insect creatures who speak in strange hisses, clicks, and grunts.
PHYSICAL INFORMATION
  • Breathes: Type II, Özeminar breath a similar compound to that of humans but requires a special form of spores, that are toxic for most life, for their lungs to effectively absorb oxygen and other needed gasses. These spores are given off by a species of plant once native to their homeworld that the Özeminar have spread throughout their isolated colonies and ships. Some Özeminar have undergone complex gene therapy or augmentation to remove this need, improving their lungs to be able to work within Type I atmospheres.
  • Average Height of Adults: The typical Özeminar adult male is 5'6, while a female typically is 6'4. Özeminar are able to grow throughout their lives and can grow up to nine feet tall in some extreme cases. These rare cases typically die much younger as the larger they get the harder it is for their organs to function appropriately leading to their short lifespan. However, some Özeminar have undergone cybernetic or genetic tampering to increase their lifespan and grow to such proportions in a slower but healthier manner.
  • Average Length of Adults: N/A
  • Skin color: Dark pink, gray, black
  • Hair color: N/A
  • Distinctions: The Özeminar are a reptilian-insectoid species with six pronounced appendages that are nearly covered in thick chitinous plates that were once the shell of their egg. These plates cover every part of the body that isn't expected the bend, giving them a natural suit of armor against most hazards but easily countered by skilled enemies or predators. Their glowing eyes range in a variety of colors and typically change with age. A dim green that steadily brightens to cyan when reaching adulthood, but slowly dims to a dark blue during the latter years of their life. Males typically are smaller but have pronounced tusks compared to their much larger female counterparts who's tusks tend to be much smaller.
  • Races: The Özeminar are split into settled or roaming clans called Otkasi (Plural Otkasinar). Each Otkasi has diverged from each other from when the Özeminar initially fled their own home planet, meaning they have evolved unique traditions, cultures, slang, and mannerisms unique to them. Typically Özeminar can still understand another Özemi from another Otkasi, but there typically are cultural differences.
  • Force Sensitivity: Rare
Strengths:
  • Quick Learning: Either due to some evolutionary quirk or the pressures of time on their short lifespans the Özeminar are incredibly fast at learning and rarely struggle from lack of motivation or procrastination. This has helped them excel in blending in with different cultures throughout the galaxy, master technologies that were at one point hundreds of years past their current understanding, and train in and master skills in only a few short years.
  • Multi-Limbed Masters: The Özeminar's four arms are each able to be moved independently and perform fine motor functions without getting each other confused. This allows Özeminar to interact with multiple things at once and multitask far more efficiently than humans. This is only backed up by their four eyes which are equally able to focus on different things at once.
  • Natural Climbers: Thanks to their biology and multiple limbs the Özeminar find climbing comes easy to them.
Weaknesses:
  • Vulnerable Times: The Özeminar shed their chitinous plates once every standard year, beginning from when they were young and shed their first chitin which acted as their egg shell. During this time they are incredibly vulnerable and weak as their body is focusing on the new chitinous plates hardening and forming correctly.
  • Weak Immunities: Naturally born with weak immune systems the Özeminar rely on technological means to protect themselves from poisons and diseases which can easily wreak havoc on their systems. Even simple diseases to humans can kill an Özemi.
CULTURE
  • Diet: Carnivore. Most Otkasinar's have developed ways of cloning meat, dietary supplements, or rely on large farmsteads to provide food for their citizens. Occasionally a traveler will run into an Otkasi whose member Özeminar have turned to hunting and predatory habits, these groups are typically looked down upon as they do not perceive eating the flesh of other sentient races as taboo and often seek it out. Some seem to do this as a cultural practice while others seem to have adopted the Trandoshan religion, or similar folk beliefs that have syncretized with it, perhaps out of an early 'cultural exchange' between the two races when the Özeminar were still young on the galactic stage.
  • Communication: Sound Bite of the Özeminar tongue "Kizditil"
  • Technology level: Galactic Standard
  • Religion/Beliefs: Özeminar have many different beliefs that differ depending which Otkasi they hail from. Some worship the Scorekeeper, the Trandoshan god. Some have similar hunting religions that negate any central god-figure while honoring ancestor spirits or various spirit-creatures. But most Özeminar believe firmly in the 'Nagikkan' or Great Law, a code of ethics and conduct that promotes loyalty to one's Otkasi and direct family, creating and maintaining honor through acts of kindness, bravery, and willingness to defend and sacrifice for your kin, and the constant pursuit of progress. What exactly that progress is tends to be vague, and many different Özeminar have their own personal interpretation of what it means to them as an individual.
  • General behavior: Özeminar can best be described as a 'Clan' race. The clan, or in this specific case the Otkasi, is everything. The Otkasi is responsible for the raising of the young, from the clutches of chitinous eggs to adulthood. The Otkasi is responsible for organizing its members into various professions and defending its members from internal and external threats. The Otkasi is everything. Now Otkasinar can differ in how exactly they accomplish these goals. Some are strict pacifists, being ruled almost as anarchist communes with decisions being made by consent of the governed. Others are strict hierarchies where questioning the orders of your superiors could get you killed. And most fall in between these two extremes. Regardless, the one constant is the Otkasi is the most important thing in an Özemi's life even if they were not born into that Otkasi but rather adopted (or even kidnapped) into it.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION

Tracing Özeminar history is difficult pre-Gulag plague, and even their accounts during the plague vary wildly between Otkasi. What is generally understood is that sometime during the Gulag Plague they were visited by an infected ship which crashed on their world, and the alien bio-weapon wreaked havoc on their planet and its ecosystem making it inhabitable for the Özeminar. But reverse-engineering the technology found on the ship the Özeminar, and many factions within them, were able to build ships and flee to the stars where their inhabitants have lived ever since. Some Otkasinar settled down, creating new colonies within already settled planets or wild worlds for the Özeminar, but others have fully adopted the nomadic lifestyle and wander through space as explorers, scientists, or pirates.
