The turn of the century saw many waves ripple through galactic civilization. Entire nations rose and fell, economies shifted to the tune of war, and dark forces turned the tide against the light. But none of these events were as tumultuous as the Planeshift. A cosmic event of unprecedented magnitude, the Shift affected thousands of planets, moons, and astronomical objects throughout the galaxy. Chief among them, in the eyes of the corporate world, was Etti IV, the ecumenopolitan seat of the Corporate Sector Authority.

Flung far from the Corporate Sector and its members, Etti found itself surrounded by Imperial warlords and pirate fleets deep in the Slice. The CSA’s Security Police, pejoratively called Espos, quickly lost control of the indentured populace. With nowhere else to turn, the Direx Board and its remaining forces withdrew from the city-world and fled, leaving Etti behind. Contacts in Hutt Space were the first to accommodate the corporate remnants, what with Imperials to the east, a fallen Core to the north, and a cold war brewing in the west. With the aid of their benefactors, the Direx Board was offered a home on Nar Shaddaa, the Smuggler's Moon.

Despite the anarchy it abandoned in the Slice, the Corpos were enjoying a neon horizon laden with opportunity and untapped potential. The Board elected to doff its previous identity and rebrand to celebrate the ushering of a prosperous future. Atop Benevolence Tower, the Hutt Space Corporate Exchange was born.
