Description

Hegemony of Vandemar

"Vandemar was not built at the edge of the Unknown,
but against it - by oath, by steel, and by those who dared return from beyond the veil.
"

Beyond the familiar borders of the galaxy, amid the obscured reaches and ancient dangers of the Unknown Regions, stands the Hegemony of Vandemar. Founded by the descendants of a civilisation long separated from the wider galaxy, Vandemar developed in isolation; its people shaped by hardship, discipline and the conviction that survival must never be entrusted to chance. Beneath the rule of the Hegemon, its worlds are bound together by common law, shared tradition and an uncompromising belief that unity is the foundation upon which all lasting greatness is built.

The Hegemony is a realm of knightly orders, noble houses and master artisans, where ancient customs exist alongside technologies seldom witnessed beyond Vandemarian space. Its warriors carry the legacy of forgotten empires into modern battle, while the enigmatic Techwrights preserve knowledge drawn from places deeper within the Unknown Regions than most outsiders would dare travel. From the pristine Halls of High Vandemar, the relentless expeditionary knights of the Indomitus Legion, to the proud strength of the Dragonriders and ancient oaths of the Knightly Orders - every institution serves a society that prizes duty, mastery and service above personal indulgence.

Vandemar emerges from isolation not merely to participate in the affairs of the galaxy, but to shape them. The Hegemony stands in deliberate opposition to the dominion of the Force and to those who elevate it into religion, whether they name themselves Jedi, Sith or something yet unknown. It rejects the claim that mystics, prophets and self-appointed guardians possess any divine or natural right to determine the fate of civilisation. Through conquest, alliance, discovery and the defence of its sovereign domain, Vandemar advances with deliberate purpose - offering a place to soldiers, nobles, explorers, engineers and outsiders prepared to earn their place beneath its banner.

Q&A

What are the main inspirations for Vandemar?
What is the theme, the vibe of the Hegemony?
  • Vandemar aims to have: a strong aesthetical theme with Knights, Dragons and Angels in its center; a unique relationship with the Force due to its Netherworld connection; a wholly pragmatic culture that is devoted to its survival and continuance; a sense of superiority due to its longevity; a high end technological society that is both conscious and restricted in their own indulgence; a feudal realm that is based on oaths, honour and pragmatism more than on a centralised state.
What is the role of Force Users in Vandemar?
  • Force Users have a special, specific place in the Vandemarian civilisation. Vandemar rejects Force religions and their impact they have had on stability of the Galaxy, therefore Force Users must have a profession first and foremost that serves society. The only separate Force Order that is permitted operation in the Hegemony are the Knights of Zakuul.
What kind of roleplay can I expect in this group?
  • Vandemar's planetary traits alone allow for a large variety of roleplays, from Knights that are devoted to hunting beasts and protecting society, to the exploration of the Unknown Regions, discovering arcane Iokathian tech with the Techwrights or taming a dragon as part of the Dragonblooded culture. The Indomitus Legion serves as martial arm acting in the known Galaxy, fighting alongside allies while High Vandemar is a clinically beautiful place with as many secrets and intrigues as Game of Thrones' Red Keep. Knights, Dragons, Angels & Demons, Archeotech, Exploration, Diplomacy, Political - all themes that one can explore and delve into.
How does Vandemar interact with the rest of the Galaxy?
  • Vandemar's anti-Force religion policy is publicly known, though it is not outright hostile to any Jedi or Sith. It rejects democracy as a concept just as freedom for freedom's sake, yet practices efficient laws and liberties. Situated in the Unknown Regions, Vandemar is far enough removed to not be impacted by a lot of common issues but can provide effective aid and support to its allies and those in need of it. Vandemar sits deep inside the Lawful Neutral alignment, but has its hands in both Good & Evil territory if you look close enough.
