The battle had come to a close; Coruscant was eerily silent aside from the skies that raged onward, veins of lightning ripping through black clouds.
Lysander stood amidst the destruction. Gasping survivors remained; these, too, would need to be accounted for. One by one.
Bodies of their foe littered the streets; some were buried beneath rubble, others lay in the open. He moved through the masses. Nightstar rested in his hand, bathed in crimson, the blade angled toward the ground. Now, it was more of a tool than a weapon, carried after the true work was done.
The helm had been discarded long ago. Strands of blonde hair clung to a youthful, composed visage. Fingers flexed around the hilt every so often.
Near the edge of the street, he saw something move, followed by a familiar sound.. the rasping pull of breath. His head turned slightly, emerald flames tracking without shifting his stance. Another.. this one facedown, back toward him. One leg was gone, cauterized.
Without so much as a whisper, he stepped forward. His prized sword rose and fell, plunging deep through the figure’s back, past flesh and bone. Breath was severed instantly; the body went slack.
But something else stirred within his chest, deeper.. far beyond any sense of victory. Nearby waited a familiar banner. A single hand closed around the pole, tightening. Tall, vertical, dominated by blue and edged in gold. These were the colors of the Ascania sigil. Naturally, the galaxy would see today's events as conquest.. claim upon the Core. That was fine with Lysander. Perhaps, revenge was too simple a word.. but it was the closest one he could find.
After all, everyone fought for something deeper than what was seen.
Drawing near the ruins of what had once been part of the palace, he drove it into the earth, watching it rise proudly against the storm. The Sith’s gaze traced upward before his lids closed, accepting a truth that slowly settled into place.
You took something from my family.
The banner before him breathed, mirroring the judgement in his heart.
“For you, Corazona.”
