The hologram flickers to life again, putting President Mya Jesel in front of a fireplace. Instead of sitting comfortably in a chair next to it, however, she sits at a table with the fireplace behind her, with a datapad and roll of proper paper laying on the table in front of her. Despite her neatly managed appearance, she appears wearier than her last appearance and there is a stronger sense of stress that can be sensed. Still, she looks defiant, determined, and brilliant.
"People of Susefvi, hello once again! We live in complicated, dangerous times, as I am sure you are all aware. With the formal dissolution of the Outer Planet's Alliance, we find ourselves in a precarious situation. The galaxy is a dangerous place and there are many eager to take advantage of chaos and power vacuums that will develop with its absence. Undoubtedly, ambitious crime lords and imperial wannabes will rise from the shadows they've been driven by the combined might of the Alliance to seize power and take their revenge. Galactic superpowers stand on our borders. Trade and economic routes will be disrupted.
It is going to be a difficult time. I will be honest. It will be a turbulent period of time and it will not be easy. But we have been before and it will happen again. It is up to all of us, individually and socially, to tighten our belts, strap down our helmets, and survive what is about to come.
I tell you this. We shall not stand for the incursions of foreign powers against our sovereignty. We are the people of Susefvi and the Suarbi system. We have lived and prospered by ourselves for centuries without the aid of any foreign governments. Our ancestors left the Corporate Sector to make their own life here without being ruled over by foreign powers or oppressed by their corporate overlords. From there, we have built up a stable, prosperous society with rich mining, manufacturing, agricultural, and tourism industries, with a healthy democratic process. We shall maintain our independence and our sovereignty and resist any incursions or predations to the fullest of our power. And we shall support our friends, neighbors, and allies from the Outer Planets Alliance space.
We are the inhabitants of the Outer Rim and we have all survived on the edge of the galaxy, survived Core and Inner Rim exploitation, been occupied, and broken free. We are people of strength, of courage, of endurance, and the resolve to build societies up from unsettled worlds. This will carry us far and to the other side of the turbulence we're about to face.
To support this camaraderie and the community of sovereign worlds in the Outer Rim, we have proposed with our nearest neighbors and trade partners the formation of a new multi-governmental organization- the Rimward Trade League. Bolstered by our cooperative efforts with the Outer Rim Development Corps, we have drafted the framework for a new organization based on its shared governance.
The primary purpose of the League is to strengthen and enhance our mercantile and commercial ties to our fellow systems in the Outer Rim to help weather the coming events. If we can maintain our economy and those of our allies, it will help minimize the challenges we are about to face. Accomplishing this will be achieved through a variety of methods- stronger trade treaties and collaborative investment in infrastructure being the highest-level projects. More notable for many of you is the creation of a unified merchant marine academy program to ensure that Outer Rim has the best and brightest spacers in the galaxy. We come from spacers after all and it's our cargo and freight fleets that keep us alive. Additionally, there is the foundation of a second organization- an Outer Rim rescue fleet, based on the innovations and experience of the Kathol Outback Search and Rescue. This fleet will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and repairing networks of hyperspace buoys, rescue stations, and a fleet of rescue ships to aid any ships in distress. They will work closely with the Outer Rim Development Corps for surveying, astrogation, and charting projects necessary for the safe and reliable construction.
The secondary purpose is mutual military and humanitarian defense. League members retain their sovereignty and autonomy but have pledged to support each other in any defensive operations that may be necessary. To fulfill our own obligation and preparedness, the defense committee is considering an emergency expansion to the budget to bulk up the Susefvi Defense Force and cross-training operations with the other parties interested in the creation of the League.
Many of these details are still being finalized, but even as we speak, representatives and ambassadors are hard at work preparing a formalized charter to bring the Rimward Trade League into fruition. It will take time to rebuild and redevelop our connections, but this I promise you, we will get through this. Susefvi has always endured and we will do so again. Moreso, we will propser! And to the rest of our friends, family, and loved ones spread across the Outer Rim, we will miss you. We stand with you and you remain in our thoughts. Someday soon, we shall all meet again.
