PRIVATE COMMUNIQUÉ - Pardon Request for Acier Moonbound

Chancellor,

I write privately to request that the Republic grant a full pardon to Acier Moonbound.

Moonbound has voluntarily surrendered himself to Jedi custody following his escape from Republic confinement, an escape orchestrated by the renegade Jedi Lorn Reingard. Evidence available to us indicates that, thereafter, Moonbound was coerced into assisting Reingard in the liberation of a Sith prisoner held in Jedi custody. Recordings of the incident further demonstrate considerable reluctance on his part to engage Jedi personnel, and a markedly more restrained course than that pursued by Reingard.

This must also be weighed against his conduct at Ghorman and Thyferra. Moonbound helped secure intelligence critical to our operations, held enemy forces away from the wider battle, and, despite the circumstances, intervened to preserve the life of a notable Sith. It was an act of mercy that should not go unremarked.

I have now spoken with him personally. I believe his remorse genuine, his surrender sincere, and his desire for restitution equally so. I sense no desire within him to return to the darkness.

His conduct during the prison breakout remains subject to the review and judgment of the Jedi Council. Nevertheless, I am prepared to stake my office upon this assessment. Should Acier Moonbound betray this trust and knowingly return to such conduct, I will resign as Grand Master.

He will not be informed of that pledge.
