Guess whose back.

SECTOR: Tython

PLANET: Tython

TIME: Two weeks before Shihon and Oyokal.

Alright, I’ll see you soon. I have to make the dropoff.

Chrysa and Caltin exchanged loving words before saying their goodbyes for the moment, until they could meet again on Alderaan. He had a drop-off to make. It was funny, the last time that Vanagor was on the planet, it was in complete turmoil. The Brotherhood of the Maw attacked the birthplace of the Jedi Order intent on destroying it.

This action will not stand.

Not only was Caltin there to stop them, but it seemed like the majority of the galaxy was there as well. The monsters were turned away by a concerted effort, but at a high cost. The damage done was almost irreversible, almost. It was a testament to the mysteries of life and the Force itself. Where there had been destruction, there was growth. Sure the scars of war would forever pepper the landscape and almost everything that stood from construction was rubble, but nature fought back.

As he flew in his freighter “The Spectre” over the treetops, Vanagor could see everything. Several outreach organizations (including his wife’s) were rebuilding colonies and planting flora and fauna where nature was having difficulties. Caltin himself had something to add, or more appropriately, to return. When he exfiltrated (bringing other Jedi with him), Vanagor took something integral to the history of the Jedi for the purpose of keeping it from certain destruction.

As he landed, the massive Jedi Master could see a large Jurjurogen climbing up the rockface and reaching his level. While he did not ignore the huge beast, Caltin carried on about his business and opened up the cargo hold after stepping off the ship. Using the Force, he levitated his cargo, which he floated along until he was able to put it in its resting place. The Jurjurogen’s mistrustful growl slowed to nothing as it saw what he brought back, the very thing its bloodline protected.

Caltin had returned "The Forge” to Tython.

The Forge was under the protection of King Thurion Heavenshield on his home planet of Midvinter up to this point. The Lion King was one of the passengers (along with Coren Starchaser, @Celeste Chase and others) and it seemed like the most appropriate place to keep it. As he watched this generation’s “Guardian of the Forge” climb back down the rockface, he stepped back into his ship and took off. There was something strange about him, so he wanted to check something out.

Flying low over the landscape, Caltin shook his head at the lost city of Kaleth, or what was left of it. It was when he landed “The Spectre” in front of the pile of rubble that was once the Jedi Temple. As BB-55 rolled down the access ramp with him, the big man did something surprising. He wanted his astromech to come with him this time, not “stay with the ship.”

As Caltin walked up the pathway (or in the general direction" since there were still signs of destruction), he "followed the noise" toward Kalikori Village. The colony that had stood almost as long as the Temple was also destroyed, but seemed to be being rebuilt. This made the big man swell with pride as it was another sign of the planet's recovery.

He could not have been more wrong.

In fact, there were construction operations, but the Droids were building industrial structures, not residences. The residents of their homes were being forced out by security personnel who were unusually well armed. This was not a rebuilding operation, but an invasion. Apparently, this was an attempt to drive the villagers off their land by bullying them.

There was nothing Caltin liked about bullies.

BB… get these villagers back to the ship.

"BB" stepped above and beyond to assist the refugees by directing them down the path back to their ship. The importance of this was not lost on Caltin as it freed him to walk towards the security personnel who had just noticed him. Immediately weapons were leveled on the big man as he just shook his head in disappointment. If he was dressed in his Jedi gear that would be one thing, but he was just another big man walking around. Even his lightsaber “Conservator” was well concealed.

They just didn’t care.

Threats were thrown his way, even one of them grabbed his arm, or tried to anyway. It was then that the big man showed a smidgen of his physical strength as he pulled away from the officer’s grip. The problem at this point though is, not only was Caltin outnumbered, he was surrounded. It was time to let the Nexu out of the bag. Leaping into the air in a direction that would easily set him down well away from his would-be attackers, the massive Jedi Master pulled his weapon to his hand.

Snap-Hiss

In a brilliant shimmer of permafrost blue and sovereign gold, the lightsaber came to life and life slowly dripped away from the faces of those who meant Caltin harm. The expletives were flowing between them until the one who looked to be in charge called them together and they steeled themselves again.

If you run, I won’t chase you.

Security opened fire. Their mistake as he blocked and redirected their shots back at them. Those who were not behind some form of cover were disarmed in the blaster bolts hitting and dismantling their rifles. Those who were still armed seemed to not understand the level of trouble they were in as several of them continued fire. That was when Caltin froze two blaster bolts in mid air and then pulled those weapons out of their hands. This distraction allowed the others to call on the two massive construction droids. The shovel-handed behemoths lumbered their way towards him, bringing a new level of confidence to those who would take this Jedi down.

Vanagor was not impressed.

Using his mastery of the Force, the big man pushed one of them down, taking it out of the equation, at least for the moment. The other one managed to get a swing of its large “fork” hand only for Vanagor to dodge at the last second. With a horizontal slash, he cut half of the right “foot” off, letting it stumble as he leaped onto the enormous machine’s “shoulder” and dug his blade into the center mass. The other droid was standing, but to no avail as the massive Jedi Master reached out towards it, his use of the Force freezing the earth mover where it stood and balled his hand into a fist.

All the security officers could do was watch in horror as their magnificent machine rippled and crumpled in on itself into a ball. The mass of metal just fell to the ground with an ear piercing thud as he continued to cut the first droid down piece by piece. When there was nothing left but spare parts, a funny thing happened. Vanagor was hit by the ball of metal that was once an earth mover.

Getting to his feet and looking around, he saw them. Identical twins, each holding blood red bladed lightsabers, they were each powerful in the Dark Side of the Force, but not refined. They were not quite “Sith” but maybe assassins? It didn’t matter as they stood in front of him with murderous intent in their eyes.

“Look Romero… a Jedi… MASTER no less…”

“Why this is not just any “Jedi Master” brother Remoro. This is Caltin Vanagor.”

Remoro’s eyes widened in mock surprise. “This IS a surprise. A pleasure to meet you. Your reputation precedes you, it’s a pity it ends here.”

“We’ll make due though.”

The look in their eyes, the way the two of them were handling their lightsabers, Remoro and Romero were clearly deadly foes. Were they a threat to a Jedi who has been in battles more days than the two of these assassins have been alive?

Is this your first time following me?

Steeling himself and pulling “Conservator” to his hand, Caltin just glared.

If you leave now, I won’t chase you. Only warning.

The twins looked at each other in mock excitement and uttered simultaneously “ooOOOoo… this WILL be fun.”

As the twins attacked simultaneously, Caltin simply sidestepped them and let the two assassins stumble clumsily. Resetting themselves, annoyed at his misdirection, they attacked again, but in staggered fashion, first Romero and then Remoro. The result was the similar, Vanagor blocked one assassin’s blade and using a “half-moon” curl to his own weapon, he put one red blade onto another before walking away almost nonchalantly.

Angry, using it and letting it flow through them, the two “would-be” Sith felt confident and attacked him from above with staggered leaps. It didn’t matter as Caltin used the Force to push Remoro back approximately twenty feet and side stepped Romero’s attack, letting him stumble and fall as his brother fell backwards and onto the ground a ways away.

“GAH! STOP THAT!” Growled Remoro.’’

“Stand and fight us, you coward!” Yelled Romero.

Caltin just smirked.

I will when the two of you actually become a threat to me.

Gripping his lightsaber, Vanagor set himself into a defensive position that told anyone all they needed to know about how the big man viewed the two attackers.

“You’ll die for that!” Bellowed Romero

Not because of either of you.

There was that smirk.

Caltin Vanagor was not the arrogant, cocksure man that he came off as(and many times portrayed himself to be). He did not want to simply kill either of these assassins, but they were giving him no choice. The more the two attacked, the more he learned about them and they did not notice. Caltin was not overwhelmed by their attacks, make no mistake, they were deadly with their lightsabers. It was a clinic on how to make your weapon an extension of you that they were putting on.

That being said, Caltin was a Master, not just of the Force, but he was a master of several lightsaber forms and proficient in all of them. The more he learned, the more his “defenses” were directing them into attacks he wanted them to make. It was almost a scripted dance and Vanagor was the choreographer. He had to work hard to stay in front of them, but he did indeed and finally Remoro tried to bifurcate him with an overhead slash which would prove to be his downfall.

The spinning upwards slash “beat” the assassin’s blade to its mark and the twin fell painfully to the ground. Life, and the Force slowly drained from him as he struggled for his final breaths. The rage that this put Romero in was understandable.

“You killed him!”

He gave me no choice, just as you aren’t.

“No more games… “Master Jedi”! I choose to kill you now!”

With nothing more than a sigh, the big man charged just as Romero did. The two blades struck with a vicious clash but Caltin’s blade slid downward and into the chest of the assassin, killing him instantly. As Taking a step back from the assassins he had just killed, Caltin shook his head to hear a voice in it he did not recognize, and that was not his own.Caltin stood over the two fallen assassins, he just shook his head until he heard a voice inside of it that was not his own, or one he recognized.

~“As impressive as ever.”~

Looking around instinctively for a moment, he stopped himself.

Good to know that I have a fan.

~laughing Oh my old friend, how I’ve missed that wit of yours.~

Glad to know I’m entertaining. Want to come out and catch up?

~When I’m ready… when I’m ready. I want to see if you have figured out who I am yet. “Master Vanagor.”~

Well, considering I have a mental block that I drop for those I know well enough, you are obviously a fallen Jedi.

Well... it's pretty obvious, isn't it? You're getting old, Master Vanagor... you're getting slow. I know we haven't seen each other in nine hundred years... but come on. On the other hand... I have been focusing my energy on learning more about you than ever before. I guess you deserve a pass on this one. Let's go back to your memory for a moment. As it turns out, I am indeed a "former" Jedi, and I am also from the "your" time, even though it is "our" time now. I guess the real question is... "who"... laughs some more you dog you! Still teaching. You actually had me monologuing! Well I did not give you enough information…~

No… but I did figure out where you are.

~Meh, I wasn’t hiding. Oh well, time for me to leave for now. See you soon old friend.~

Looking out over the horizon, Caltin could see a lone figure standing next to, and eventually stepping into a shuttle which lifted off. The big man just watched as the shuttle slowly idled overhead, blast-door open as the figure in all black and a burning red mask just stood watching him. There was indeed something familiar about the individual but the big guy wasn’t sure. One thing he was indeed sure about…

… this wasn’t the last time they would cross paths.

Without wasting time, he had a ship to follow.
