875 ABY Character Census - RESULTS

875 ABY Character Census - RESULTS
Results collected and compiled by FederationPrime

The google form for our second Character Census has closed, so its time to take a look at what characters call this site home. The last census results can be found here. I'll provide a little bit of commentary as well if I find something particularly of note. As well, feel free to discus the results in the comments section.

Basic info

There has been a fairly large decrease in the population of human characters, and some faction specific species like the Draelvasier are much fewer in number.
As for alignment more people are shifting to either good or evil characters, though the trend towards neutral instead of lawful or chaotic has continued.

Force related

Force powers have remained similar, with moderate to high levels or non-sensitivity being common. Force alignment has become more polarized as well.
Training in force powers has decreased as a proportion of the population. IC this could be explained by the fall of one of the biggest force user factions, The Sith Empire,

Factions, companies and combat

We've seen a reduction in the proportion of people in major factions, this is likely the result of the fall many large major factions such as The Sith Empire, Darkwire, the Bryn'adul, and the Confederacy of Independent Systems,
There has been a shift away from blasters and slugthrowers and towards lightsabers for weapons as well, melee combat has remained popular.
Income has shifted towards the middle as well, away from none and very high towards average.

More people have been killing or capturing other writer's characters as well, it seems like this past while has been an exceptionally violent time in the galaxy.
Thank you all for reading this little article, and thank you to all who have contributed to this little information project. Maybe next calendar year I'll do another and see where we're at. Please leave any comments in the replies and feel free to discuss this article here on the site or in the discord (in the proper places of course).

It's all very interesting data. I'd like to see more contextual questions and more breakdowns, as inferences could be (and have already been made by yourself) but we don't have any data backing it (for example, the number of people in Major Factions).

The Force Sensitivity chart is also very misleading, because the biggest slice of the pie is NFUs. I don't think we needed the numbers on who is "high or low" FU, and if we did, it could be a separate graph. What people are more interested in seeing is, are there more Force Users than NFUs - this chart displays NFUs as the biggest slice while it clearly states FUs are the more dominant choice.

Just some food for thought, I found this to be very cool and glad you saw it to finish. Very cool! Looking forward to other stuff you put out.

I know we can open the images in new tabs and compare them that way, but it'd be interesting to see the year comparisons side-by-side.

Also kind of curious about the company portion. Just like personal income, companies can have different levels of reach and wealth. A few years ago these were denoted as tiers with formal rankings, now it's just claimed similarly to character ranks. With as many businesses out there as there are it'd be interesting to see how many categorize themselves as a small business/mom-and-pop shop versus something galaxy-spanning and highly pervasive like Blastech or KDY, or somewhere inbetween.

Edit: Also how many people have joined a major faction and activity levels with it (join-and-forget as it were). Also if you're handing out the raw data I'd love a copy too.

ADifferentSort ADifferentSort This is awesome work!

I love charts and data visualization, and I'd deeply enjoy playing with the raw data. Would you be willing to send me a copy of both census spreadsheets?

This is awesome work man. Like Jerec, I'd be very interested to see the spreadsheet results if you're comfortable sharing them. In particular I'd like to dive into the species, how many of those names bundle into near human? How many are Codex species? Etc.

Interesting. Sensitivity by alignment I could have predicted, as the typical dark side culture doesn't have lower-sensitivity members alive for long. I would have expected more highly-sensitive individuals to be in major factions however.
