SETTING INFORMATION
  • Structure Name: The Ruins of Shahuria
  • Classification: Temple Ruins
  • Location: http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Falleen
  • Affiliation: The planet is currently within CIS territory.
  • Accessibility: While isolated from society, the temple's location on the planet is known. It is unguarded and appears to be in dangerous ruins.
  • Security: n/a
  • Description: Not much marks the structure at a first glance. It is covered in moss, growth, mud, and dirt. A few native bird species can also be seen flying around it. Due to the growth around the ruins, not much sun light penetrated during the day light hours.
POINTS OF INTEREST
  • Entrance: the entrance to the temple, albeit dirty, shows signs of former grandeur. Beneath the dirt and grime, marble remains can be spotted, even though the vast majority of it was looted a long time ago.
  • Main Hall: dangerous to step through, trees have fallen through the roof. The main hall poses the biggest risk due to its large size. Broken statues and pieces decorate the floor in between the dead wood. Only two have remained unharmed.
  • The Two: within the main hall, only two statues have survived through time and through robberies. The statues are at the north end of the main hall, close to the wall, and about five feet apart. One statue is of a naked woman, and one is of a naked man. Despite their nudity, there is nothing un-tasteful about these statues, even by modern standards.
  • The Rooms: many entrances from the main hall leads to rooms. Some are big, some are small. All are perfectly square. Perhaps once, these were also furnished.
  • Basement: From the two northern corner rooms, remains of trap doors can be found. Wherever they used to lead to has long since been shut off.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION
It is said that thousands of years ago, two gods resided over this section of Falleen; Shahuria and Shaharon. Shahuria looked after the people during the spring and the summer, and Shaharon looked after them during the autumn and the winter. Shahuria helped families who could not breed on their own. Shaharon took the lives of the sick, the elderly, and those slain in battle. Both of them had temples of their own, where the local people worshiped them.

For centuries, the two gods co-existed in harmony, one never bothering the other. But as all great historians and story tellers would tell you - peace never lasts. Shaharon envied Shahuria's ability to grant life. Shahuria envied Shaharon's ability to end things. The two began to bicker and clash, and as they did so, their followers did the same. Camps were divided into two, wives split away from husbands, and siblings began to murder each other in cold blood. Where once harmony ruled, now was utter chaos.

It was Shahuria who snapped first, traveling far and wide to seek a way to end Shaharon's godhood. And she found it. But when she returned to their temples, she could not bring herself to trick him into taking it, and instead it was he who ended her.

This caused outrage among the tribes. It was one thing for a god to war with another; it was a whole different thing for them to kill and behave such as mortals. The followers of Shaharon rebelled against him and took his temple apart, using the materials to make Shahuria's temple bigger and grander. Where once this was a place of worship, now it was a place of grief and remembrance.

Shaharon lost his godhood as his believers turned their back to him, and was eventually lost to the sands of time.

To this day, archeologists are not entirely sure where Shaharon's temple originally was, nor have they managed to proof that the temple of Shahuria was built in two different stages or more. Then again, excavations to the temple were never quite properly funded, and stories and myth regarding the place are mostly theoretical, and not truly popular by any means. Some of theorized that the tale of Shahuria and Shaharon was created much after the destruction of the temple, whereas others believe that there were no gods at all, but instead perhaps Force Users of incredible power who reigned in the area. Some have suggested that the temple served entirely different purposes in the past, and that the stories known now were just made up not too long ago. As it stands, until someone funds a proper team to look into the matter, the temple's background will remain mostly unknown.

I think you may be missing a word here, as I'm having trouble figuring out whether you mean the statues are distasteful by modern standards or not distasteful by modern standards.
