STRENGTHS
  • Avalanche: Nothing so much as a B2H optimized for melee, this droid's size, strength, and durability lend themselves well to a terrifyingly effective melee killing machine.
  • Breacher: Aside from shredding enemy infantry, this droid's other primary purpose is to saw through bulkheads, barricades, or other obstructions.
  • Redundant Systems: Like most of Helix's other similar heavy droids, the B2C possesses a secondary brain in its chest cavity, allowing it to keep going even after significant damage.
WEAKNESSES
  • No Ranged Weapons: The B2C possesses no ranged weapons whatsoever.
  • No Hands: The B2C has no manipulator appendages, and is thus incapable of carrying or lifting objects.
  • Blood-Maddened: As with its various cousins, the Mangler is not especially bright, and is prone to berserker rages when badly damaged. When so affected, it will disregard its own safety and charge to its death, aiming to bring its foes down with it.
DESCRIPTION

The B2C is a somewhat unusual Helix droid optimized solely for close-combat. Various encounters with its lighter droids being dispatched en-masse by skilled melee combatants pressed upon Helix the need for a somewhat blunter solution to the problem.

Standing approximately three meters in height, the B2C would be imposing enough even without its primary armaments. These are a pair of simple powered chainsaw blades, forged of saber-resistant phrik, and sheathed in energy fields to greatly increase their cutting power. These are highly effective at breaching most physical barriers (such as walls, doors, or ship hulls), and these droids are frequently deployed in urban combat or other close-quarters situations.

The droid is all too happy to turn its tools on infantry or vehicles when possible, and few things are as terrifying as one of these giants mowing through a squad. The snarl of the chainsaws and the screams of its victims often have a serious negative effect on enemy morale, not to mention the promise of a particularly messy death. Faster than most Helix heavy droids, they can close a gap quickly, with their dense armor shrugging off most small-arms fire. Their weapons can tackle many forms of vehicle or infantry armor, and the newly gore-slicked droid will show no mercy to any other targets within its reach.

While a near-unstoppable force of nature up close, the B2C possesses no inbuilt ranged weapons (nor any hands to utilize any it might otherwise pick up) and is thus defenseless against any ranged fire it cannot physically reach. Like other members of Helix's B2 line, it is likely to enter a frenzied state when badly damaged, causing it to disregard self-preservation and pursue enemy forces to the point of self-destruction.
