- Material: Durasteel protective housings, plasteel insulation, galven circuitry, power capacitors, sensor components, electromagnetic accelerators, coolant lines and standard blaster components.
Targeting and Fire-Control Systems
Image-Rec Launcher: Uses visual recognition software to identify and prioritize vessels by model, silhouette or programmed markings.Targeting Assistance Mem-Stik: Supplies the fire-control computer with continuously updated hostile-position data.
Advanced Target Acquisition and Tracking: Combines sensor information, movement prediction and range calculations to maintain firing solutions against maneuvering targets.
Marksman Barrel Assembly: Uses reinforced emitters and denser focusing circuitry to improve effective range and shot placement.
MK XII Smartgunner Chip: Provides automated firing corrections and assists organic or droid gunners with target leading.
Model-87 Weapon Sensor: Prevents accidental firing when friendly vessels, obstructions or protected targets cross the weapon's firing path.
Power and Damage Systems
Upgraded Galven Patterns: Remodulates the weapon's internal circuitry to produce a stronger energy discharge.97R Enhanced Blaster Actuating Module: Uses stronger electromagnetic accelerators to improve bolt cohesion, power and armor penetration.
SF-12 Capacitor Component: Stabilizes energy transfer between the vessel's power grid and upgraded weapon systems.
TQ-895 Capacitor Component: Increases the energy available to primary laser and blaster weapons.
KC5 Capacitor Component: Regulates capacitor discharge to improve consistency during repeated firing.
Kinetic Capacitor: Recovers energy produced during sharp maneuvers and redirects it into compatible laser-cannon systems.
Flux Capacitor Connector: Collects excess thermal energy and redirects it into laser-cannon power systems, temporarily improving damage output.
TX-100 Weapon Power Magazine: Expands the reserve energy available to power-intensive weapons before they must recharge.
Cooling and Endurance Systems
Blaster Radiator: Removes heat from weapon housings and firing assemblies during sustained use.Polestar subZero: Provides additional cooling for high-output blasters, with multiple units capable of being installed on larger weapons.
Weapon Signature Reduction: Limits the electromagnetic and thermal emissions produced when the weapon is charged or fired.
Ordnance Systems
CAR-X4 Ordnance Magazine: Improves internal storage and ammunition-feed efficiency for missiles, torpedoes and other compatible warheads.
STRENGTHS
Standardized Production: Shared adapters, capacitors and control components allow upgraded weapons to be installed across numerous KSC designs using the same production infrastructure.
Improved Fire Control: Integrated targeting sensors, image recognition and smartgunner assistance make older weapons more accurate against starfighters and maneuvering vessels.
Stronger Weapon Output: Upgraded galven circuitry, actuating modules and power capacitors increase the performance of compatible laser and blaster weapons.
Sustained Fire Capability: Expanded power reserves and improved cooling allow weapons to maintain useful rates of fire for longer periods before requiring a cooldown.
Reduced Firing Signature: Signature-management components make it more difficult to immediately identify or trace the vessel firing the upgraded weapon.
WEAKNESSES
Increased Power Demand: Fully upgraded weapons draw considerably more energy from the host vessel and may compete with shields, engines or other high-consumption systems.
Heat and Component Wear: Galven remodulation, enhanced actuating modules and redirected thermal energy accelerate wear when weapons are repeatedly fired at maximum output.
Compatibility Restrictions: Exotic weapons, superweapons, unusually old designs and systems built around nonstandard power architecture may be impossible to upgrade.
Centralized Vulnerability: Ion damage, slicing or destruction of the ZZ90 control processor can disable several enhancement systems at once, even when the original weapon remains functional.
Developed by Kuat Systems Consortium in 902 ABY, the ZZ90 Weapon Improvement System was created to address the large number of functional but outdated weapon designs still circulating after the Gulag Plague. Although many older laser cannons, blasters and ordnance launchers remained mechanically dependable, their targeting systems, power regulators and cooling assemblies were no longer competitive with modern military equipment.
Instead of replacing these weapons with entirely new models, KSC engineers developed a standardized collection of adapters and enhancement components. The ZZ90 could be incorporated into newly manufactured vessels or installed during a major refit, allowing older weapon designs to use modern targeting processors, capacitors, coolant systems and power-management equipment.
