APPEARANCE
Like most Vong, Zulia has a sloping, ridge-like forehead and pointed ears. Her heavily-modified body is covered with self-mutilations and scars. Usually Zulia is wearing a full body oozhith that colors her skin turquoise and gives it lizard-like scales. She is never without her cultural headdress, which sometimes changes in shape and color, depending on Zulia’s moods.
BIOGRAPHY
Born into Domain Kwaad, Zulia followed the path of a typical Yuuzhan Vong born into the Shaper Caste, starting out as a Shaper Initiate. Once finished with her Initiation phase, Zulia entered the rank of Adept, and was required to make a a sacrifice to the gods. In the Grotto of Yun-Ne'Shel, per tradition, Zulia's hand was cut off and replaced with a Shaper hand. Her brain was also implanted with the Vaa-tumor, which caused her agonizing pain. The anguish was necessary, however, for the tumor allowed her brain to adapt to the new shaping knowledge she discovered over the years. Soon, Zulia became used to the pain, and bore it as a great honor to the gods. Once she reached the Master Shaper rank, Zulia's Vaa-tumor was removed, but she continued to find ways to self-harm in order to feel as if she were fully placating the great Yun-Yuuzhan.
Zulia found herself attracted to the Legion Yun'Do on Selvaris because of the acceptance that the shaping protocols were not, in fact, stringent edicts, but instead guidelines for further development. The knowledge-thirsty Shaper felt that her shaping skills could better flourish under such rigid restraints. Additionally, Zulia sought to use more unorthodox methods in her biological experimentation without the fear of reprisal for her or her Domain Kwaad. The Legion Yun'Do was said to be ground zero for creative bio-engineering, so once the Shaper had earned the rank of Master, she settled on Selvaris where she remains.
