STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES :

(+)Local Leader -
Zo was born in the Sty, and has remained there for the bulk of his life. He is well-known and well-liked for his charisma, his wisdom, and his friendship. When in his home neighborhood (and some of the extended area of District 9 and Denon), he can typically move with ease, always able to find someone to talk to or even a couch to crash on.

(+) Artist – This is not here to say that you should acknowledge anything he makes or does as quality or transformative. This is merely here to suggest a disposition – Zo knows how to make straight lines in chalk, to make paint with candy, to manipulate and capture an audience with the mere spaces between words or notes in jokes and music. It suggests a philosophy, and even a coping strategy, that has carried him through what many outworlders would consider to be a "tough life" by pure virtue of his location. He has very vivid dreams.

(+)Keen Eye – Zo has a sharp eye for value. It's not something he consciously practices; it's just an intuitive, "6[SUP]th[/SUP] sense" sort of deal. This ability to recognize the treasure is a big part of why he has still managed to be able to make ends meet without so much as considering the start of a bonafide career. Sometimes, this even comes with a wealth of information that he thought he had forgotten about, this richness of his memory a surprise to him. Such is a gift that comes with time spent in the world.

(-) Old – While no means actually old, Zo has no come to possess more or less the body he deserves. While he may have been scrappy as a younger man, a life not lived as an athlete or a fighter has left him on the smaller end of his weight-to-height spectrum, only now with his body and organs on the decline. Fortunately, he's sharp.

(+/-) Technophobic - Zo generally doesn't like to carry portable technology with him. He doesn't try to buy the next new thing, nor stay current with however the kids are ingesting information, these days. For this reason, Zo can always be counted on to be a couple generations behind whatever's passing for modern tech of the day. The positive to this is that he's usually pretty well-versed in how old tech works, as he has been forced to learn how to repair his old gear out of necessity.

(-)Mental Illness – Zo is marked by mental illness and its many manifestations. The more bearable blights of depression, racing thoughts, and slight paranoia are sometimes trumped by more challenging comorbidities a long the lines of visual and auditory hallucinations, synesthesia, and delusion of reference. For the most part, Zo has been able to sublimate these atypicalities into artistic practice and hip street mysticism. None the less, in periods of extreme stress or self-reflection, they can provoke an episode.

APPEARANCE:
At a distance, Zo La Kund passes for nobody. He blends with the rest of District 9 and all its colorful characters effortless, potentially even more invisible due to his lack of dyed hair, fluorescent lighting, or glitter. Again, this is only from distance, however. Upon closer inspection, his eccentricity becomes increasingly apparent – weird symbols on jewelry; t-shirts clearly made at home with marker, unusual tattoos, beadwork, jacket patterns and colors– all expressing a rich and complex interior world.

When inspired, Zo has been known to act as street or even theater performer, at which point, he might don insane costume or facepaint.

Most days, though, his face shows the lines of weariness and the sad eyes of a martyr. His smile has been said to be contagious, however– big and dumb.

BIOGRAPHY:
Born in the Sty, a neighborhood within Denon's District 9, Zo experience a typical upbringing for the area. While the schools were crap, Zo still excelled, learning relatively quickly, and consuming datatomes and logs and whatever the unit of bound Fiction and writing is for Star Wars, I don't know, I don't care. He would trade and scavenge for knowledge and was quickly recognized by adults and peers in his life as "a smart guy." It suited him well, and he was able to maintain this position without alienating the people around him – gang members didn't antagonize him; teachers leant him extra resources; the parents of friends (and even acquaintances) saw to it that he was fed every day. It was as if Zo La Kund carried with him the dreams of the entire Sty – like some rocket launched into space from a dying world, filled to the brim with proof that they had been there, that they were there still.

There was a minute when Zo was 22 where they may have been right, having been a featured member in a short-lived poetry and performance, collaborative art movement and counter-culture. Before the year was over, however, it has been completely commodified – its only contribution to the mainstream existing in the form of a haircut that comes back into vogue every two decades or so, like "the Rachel." It earned him a degree of local celebrity, even if the current generation doesn't fully understand why. Still though, the venture made its point – there's really no getting out of the Sty.

It's probable there are recordings somewhere.

Zo La Kund would pass the years with odd jobs. Construction work here, fast food there. Drug dealing for a spell. Street performing. The years just sorta…went by. Before he knew it, he was pushing 40, his parents were dead, and he had attempted suicide once, arguably twice.

Two weeks ago, Zo was pulled out of an alley by local community members, his body incapacitated, basically dead, from an overdose. Fortunately, he was revived.
