The super-heavy turbolaser in its triple variant

Intent: To provide a super-heavy long-range turbolaser
Development Thread: If necessary
Manufacturer: Ringovinda Systems
Model: Ziost super-heavy long-range turbolaser
Affiliation: Open market
Modularity: Can choose whether to have one, two or three tubes in a turret: each tube is worth 50 turbolasers
Production: Mass-Produced.
Material: Alusteel turret, turbolaser components, ion accu-accelerator
Classification: Super-heavy turbolaser
Size: Ship-Mounted
Length: 35 meters
Weight: 550 tons (single-tube turret; add 200 tons per tube in same turret)
Ammunition Type: Power reactor
Ammunition Capacity: Long-range turbolaser standard
Effective Range: Long-range turbolaser standard
Rate of Fire: Long-range Turbolaser standard

Strengths:

- Common components with many heavy long-range turbolaser batteries (in maintenance terms, just more of the same for heavy long-range turbolaser users)
- Compatible with common long-range turbolaser targeting computers

Weaknesses:

- High power drain
- Slow turret rotation rates (should not be used against corvettes and smaller)
- Punches holes in one's own shields after repeated use

Special Features: None
Description: The Ziost super-heavy turbolaser is a long-range version of its predecessor, the Lusankya. As with the Toprawa or Nekogal, the Ziost features seven power settings, each of which is twice as powerful as the previous one, with the end result that the highest power setting can drain the same amount of power as 50 standard turbolasers. Due to the added components required to achieve long-range, the Ziost is heavier, especially for the components on the mount ship, and also results in an increased power drain compared to the normal-ranged turbolaser. But such power comes at rather steep costs: the turret's traverse speed is rather sluggish (takes 20 seconds to rotate 180 degrees and, for this reason, should not be used against corvettes and small craft) and, as such, it is not recommended to mount more than six tubes on a 1,000-meter long ship, and no more than twelve on a 1,700-meter long ship. Targeting solutions are similar to those use on standard long-range turbolasers, making the transition from older turbolaser units to this one seamless for the gunners.

Important note: Each tube is worth 50 standard turbolasers, for a maximum of 150 turbolasers for a single emplacement
