Name: Zhornee

Designation: Sentient

Homeworld: Vullain-http://starwarsrp.net/topic/55117-vullain/#entry827388

Language: Zhornai

Average height of adults: Two meters.

Skin color: Alabaster, Light Blue.

Hair color: White.

Breathes: Type 1 atmosphere.

Strengths: Hardiness: Living on one of the harshest planets in the galaxy, they have had to struggle to survive.
Resistant to Cold: The tundras of Vullain have made them nearly resistant to the cold.
Resolve: Once ordered to do something, they accomplish it, no matter the cost.
Almost Impossible to Get Drunk: After centuries of downing Xanna, their bodies have gotten used to that strength of alcohol. As such, their bodies have evolved to respond to that level of alcohol, which is difficult to reproduce with anything other than Xanna.

Weaknesses: Unquestioning: Under the Zhornee Empire, the people have come to simply accept whatever authorities tell them to do.
Uneducated: The vast majority of Zhornee are illiterate and lack basic education.
Xenophobic: Due to having no contact with with alien species until very recently, most Zhornee believe aliens are pillagers, cannibals, or demons, and are deathly afraid of offending them in any way. They will trip over themselves to please aliens so that why won't eat them or steal their souls.

Distinctions: Zhornee have skin and hair that blend into their frozen environment.

Average Lifespan: 60 Earth Years.

Races: Voidwalkers- A small subgroup of the Zhornee population, they are the only known Zhornee capable of using the Force. Traditionally the rulers of the Zhornee Empire, they are only around 300,000 known Voidwalkers, however legend has it that in the glacial regions of the far north of the planet, there is a small tribe of shamans that are masters of the Force, and will wander the planet healing the sick and wounded that come to them.

Estimated Population: 8 billion, only found on Vullain.

Diet: Due to Vullain's rough and frozen terrain, farming is nearly impossible, with only the tuber Kallin growing naturally; and this tuber is present in nearly all of their meals. Kallin is also used to make Xanna, a very strong alcohol.

Communication: Speech.

Culture:
Gender Roles- Due to a 6:1 female-male ratio, they are traditionally a matriarchy; male Zhornee traditionally work the fields and the homes, only allowed near politics and business-owning as servants. However, also due to this ratio, men are allowed to have as many mates as they please.
Military- The Zhornee have never been technologically advanced, relying on pure numbers to win battles. They rely mostly on trench-warfare and massive charges. Their infantry are mostly made up of female conscripts ages 12-17. Land vehicles consist mostly of troop transports, specially made to move in the snow with large tracks. Their navy is almost non-existent, comprising of ten primitive starships armed with mass-drivers.
Living Conditions- Most of the population is spread out among small Kallin-farming villages near the equator, with few living in the glacial poles of the planet. Because of constant wars, plagues, and the environment around them, most Zhornee live to be around twenty years old.
Average Life- The Zhornee Empire has an iron grip on it's people, and seeks to control every aspect of their day-to-day lives. The average Zhornee has little-to-no news of the world outside their village, and even those in the cities are misinformed with propaganda. Only 5% of Zhornee are literate, mostly nobles and business-owners.
Religion- The traditional religion of the Zhornee Empire is Zhainism; worship of the Goddess of the Snow, with the Empress as the head of the Temple. Zhainism claims that the Empress is the Goddess' Chosen, and the words of the Empress are the words of the Goddess. The Holy Crusaders are the Empire's religious police, and have free reign over the fate of heretics and political dissidents.
Outside Influence- Before now, the Zhornee Empire has allowed no contact with the outside galaxy; only becoming space worthy during the Four-Hundred Year Darkness. But because of the brutality of the latest civil war, Empress Mar'Dikan has allowed outside contact with Vullain and it's people.
Clothing- Most clothing is made out of the planet's resident animals, the teronn; very similar to wampas. However, it is a tradition for the Empress to be scantily-clad, to show that the Goddess will not let the cold touch her.
Festivities- The only holidays Zhornee celebrate are the anniversary of the foundation of the Zhornee Empire, the Empress' birthday, and their own birthday; usually with downing large quantities of Xanna.

Technology level: Miserably behind the rest of the galaxy, the Zhornee still use projectile-based weaponry, but have access to primitive starships. They obtained these starships from reverse-engineering and scavenging ships that crashed onto their planet, and later their moon, Kareck. The only place they have an advantage is their ability to produce massive amounts of weapons and vehicles very quickly, have bodies to use them, and have replacements the next day.

General behavior: The vast majority of Zhornee spend their lives farming Kallin, hunting teronn, or fighting in whatever civil war is currently going on. If they speak out against the Empire, the Holy Crusaders execute them or exile them to the glaciers of the north.
Zhornee worship their Empress as the Goddess' Chosen.

History: Vullain is one of the harshest planets in the galaxy, and it shows in the history of it's dominant species: the Zhornee. Around 1,000 years ago, the city of Gurianii was founded by what would become the Zhornee Empire. Back then, the species was led by the Voidwalkers; Zhornee blessed by the Goddess with extreme power with the Force, and used that power to rule. Over time, the Voidwalkers slowly died out, until the only ones left were the Empress and select members of the Holy Crusaders.
As the Empire grew in power, it steadily became more and more authoritarian. Over the past seven centuries, it has been wracked with constant civil wars and plagues, and the Zhornee have barely managed to survive. In recent years, the planet has gone through a major industrial revolution, and factories choke it's skies with smog.
As the Gulag plague raged in the galaxy outside, the Zhornee had barely conquered their planet. And as the Netherworld event struck the galaxy, several hundred thousand Zhornee simply vanished; the Empire stated that the cause of death as a new plague, and the Zhornee forgot the fallen; but the truth was that they had absolutely no idea what happened to them. But, the event shook the Empress, and she decided that they could not ignore the outside world, as more and more ships crashed onto their planet, and her daughter, now-Empress Mar'Dikan decided that the Zhornee had to embrace the stars, and decreed that the Empire should turn their attention to the stars outside. The Zhornee quickly developed a primitive navy from reverse-engineering crashed starships, and declared their precense to the galaxy.

Notable Player-Characters: None as of yet.
Intent: To present a new faction and conflict to the Star Wars universe, as well as give new players another option to choose.

Breathes: Oxygen.

Please use this system. It makes it easier to understand since that's how planet's are categorized.

The Mask said:
Immunity to Cold: The tundras of Vullain have made them nearly invulnerable to the cold.
Unless they're biologically unique, they should only be 'resistant' to the cold. Not entirely immune -- there needs to be a limit at how much cold they can withstand.

The Mask said:
Impossible to Get Drunk: Due to the strength of their alcohol, other forms of it barely affect them.

How is this explained biologically? Do they have multiple livers, it doesn't need to be terribly thought out but giving a reason would be splendid.

I'd like you to add at least one more substantial weakness.

Life Expectancy: Twenty Earth Years.

Please don't modify the template in any way unless specified by a judge. Such information should be elaborated on in the description.

Races: Voidwalkers- Rare Zhornee heavily gifted in the Force, usually royalty or Holy Crusaders.

Could you please explain what a voidwalker is?

This is going to need a submission before it can be roleplayed.

Make sure this is actually listed under Culture, please. Again -- modifying the template is not allowed.

Also, could you please elaborate in the History as to how the Netherworld event affected the species?

How many of the overall population include Voidwalkers? There's 8 billion people. Are only a few hundred capable, or is it a larger number?

The Mask said:
the Zhornee that disappeared were simply replaced the next day; the species was used to large quantities of them dying.
How is this possible? Frankly; that seems more like gloss-over than an actual history. If they're essentially near-human, they shouldn't be able to breed so quickly or in such vast quantity.

Also, no need to apologize :)

It's our job to work this out with you.

Horrible with Technology: The Zhornee have little to no advanced technology on their planet, and as such, have no idea how to use most technology.
Could you please fix hat for me? There's a rather large space within the sentence. Also, if they have no idea how to use technology then how are they able to reverse-engineer starships? Let alone use them.

Oh, I just noticed. You still haven't explained how they're able to withstand so much alcohol.

Alright. I'm going to approve this. Just keep in mind that Voidwalkers shouldn't all know how to use the force. Being force-sensitive and capable isn't the same as being trained or able, so don't abuse them or they'll be taken away.

As with everything else I have no real problems. Oh, as far as reverse-engineering goes please don't abuse that. Don't make it a trait of theirs that they can easily reverse engineer technology; because that is not a listed strength.

Pending secondary.
