APPEARANCE:
An aging Epicanthix, Zei Pai is a little on the lean side, but stills possesses an impressively athletic build due to his species' extreme focus on fitness and exercise. In the fashion of his people, he has taken to growing his hair and beard out (now white from age), but binds it in elaborate styles. Likewise, Zei Pai typically wears simple fiber-spun sandals, and tunic and robes of utilitarian coarseweave. While largely human in appearance, Zei Pai has features just a little too angular to be baseline human. Most recognize him as a near-human on sight, though few outside the Pacanth Reach recognize him as Epicanthix. -
BACKSTORY:
Zei Pai is a survivor of the annihilation of Panatha. Not only this, but was one of the few (extremely vocal) opponents to the Panathans worshipping the Sith as gods. A Follower of Palawa, Zei Pai preached from his dojo the Panathan's ancient history of oppression and destruction under the thumb of force users - both light and dark - and foretold of the destruction that would come if they should continue to follow Darth Carnifex and the Sith.
His words fell on deaf ears, but still did Zei Pai preach and try to save his people. Slowly, though, his hope to save his people turned to bitterness and spite; as citizens came to throw fruit at his Dojo's walls, he beat them even as he told them their Gods would betray them; as Cultists came to try and assassinate him, he broke their bones even as he told them they had been deceived; as Sith Acolytes came to kill him, he fought them in deadly combat, even as he said that he saw them for what they were.
It was only when a Sith Lord took notice of Zei Pai, that he accepted the truth - that his people were lost - and rather than fight and risk his life against such a powerful foe, Zei Pai decided to take all who would listen to him to the stars, so that maybe at least a blessed few would survive. -
CLOTHING & ARMOR:
Clothing:
Simple fiber spun sandals, tunic and robes of utilitarian coarseweave. Underneath this Zei Pai wears an inner robe of armorweave. -
STRENGTHS & WEAKNESSES
(+) Mental Bastion:
Epicanthix possess a powerful form of subconscious mental shielding (similar to Hutts and Toydarians, though far stronger), which makes them immune to force-assisted mental tricks, influence, domination, and mind reading. This also makes Shin harder to detect through the force at a distance, as he is somewhat emotionally muted.
(+) Teräs Käsi Master:
A Follower of Palawa since birth, Zei Pai has been a monk studying the secrets of Teräs Käsi for eighty years. Zei Pai is exceptionally dangerous in hand-to-hand combat, and is more than capable of going toe to toe with force users physically. Moving so fast as to be a blur, striking with strength equivalent to a blaster or slugthrower, possessing an uncanny ability to read incoming attacks - these are only some of the abilities available to a Master of the Art.
(+) Deceptive Age:
At eighty years galactic standard, Zei Pai has the appearance of an aging humanoid, complete with white hair. By Epicanthix standards, though, he still has another good fifty years, with it being possible due to his mastery of the art to conceivably live past his species' one hundred and thirty years. As such, Zei Pai possesses much more youth and vitality than may initially seem, and frequently plays this up for sentients who might not know better in order to gain an edge.

(-) Cataclysmic Survivor:
Zei Pai is one of several thousand off-world Epicanthix who survived the annihilation of Panatha. The death of his entire culture and very way of life has left an indelible mark on him. Primarily an incredible hatred of force-users light and dark, though with a particularly potent hatred for Sith. When it comes to Sith, or even former Sith, Zei Pai is often blind in his hate, and may be unreasonable and uncompromising.
(-) Spiteful & Arrogant:
Zei Pai began life with good intentions and pure heart; but his repeated efforts to warn and save his people from certain doom - only to be rebuffed again and again - has altered him permanently. Spiteful to the point of cruelty, he is arrogant in that the Followers are the only true path to walk, and is so self-assured of his Order's moral and ethical superiority (in defiance of their own teachings even) that he is willing to simply let others suffer.
(-) Melee Specialist:
While exceptionally deadly in close combat, Zei Pai refuses to use blasters or other modern weaponry; while his skill in Teräs Käsi is great enough to mitigate this, it still represents a sizable and potentially exploitable weakness.
