  • Primary Source: N/A
PRODUCTION INFORMATION
  • Manufacturer: IMF
  • Model: N/A
  • Production: Mass-Produced
  • Affiliation: Closed-Market
  • Modularity: No
  • Material: Quandanium steel casing, explosives, standard missile components
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
  • Classification: Missile
  • Size: Mounted
  • Length: Missile - 15cm (Pod launcher - 30cm)
  • Weight: Missile - 22kg (Pod launcher - 300kg)
  • Ammunition Type: Missile
  • Ammunition Capacity: Missile - 1 (Pod launcher - 18 missiles)
  • Effective Range: 50 kilometers (atmosphere) - Standard turbolaser range (Space)
  • Rate of Fire: Single action
SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Tracking laser compatible - Pod can be paired with a system's tracking laser to make them follow a specific direction. Otherwise, they'll travel in a linear path
  • Heat-seeking - Pod can be configured to track biological targets with a heat signature. If no heat signature is present, it'll travel in a linear path.
  • Manual disengage - The missiles themselves can be disengaged, disarming the explosive mechanisms they have and stopping them by draining the fuel
Strengths:
  • Locked on - The missiles travel accurately at the point they are aimed at, and if any of the accuracy attachments are added on this is increased
  • Fast - Although they are not particularly strong, they travel at a speed of 600 meters a second, enabling them to cover ground fast to reach their targets
Weaknesses:
  • Lacking firepower - Given the missiles are fairly small, they don't contain a lot of explosive firepower
  • Easily spotted - Missiles leave behind a green smoke trail as soon as they fire, making them easily spotted and therefore, easier to shoot down
  • Loud - Even before the missiles are fired, there's a mandatory warning signal that goes off indicating their prescence
  • Very susceptible to anti-warhead measures - These missiles are fairly basic. The homing systems have only been developed to the bare minimum, these are easily countered by anti-warhead measures, although in saying that, their primary purpose wasn't to be used in space.
DESCRIPTION

What's better than a rocket launcher? How about 18 rockets packed into a pod launcher, with all of them having heat seeking technology making it child's play to take out your opponent. That was the principle upon which the Z-Missile Array was designed. Although in saying that, they're not particularly powerful, more-so depending on the the threat of being hit than actually being hit, and forcing enemies to expend anti-warfare measures and energy in order to make room for better and more powerful weaponry to be used later on in the engagement.

But that's not to say if they are hit, they'll be completely unphased. Just perhaps not as much as a firearm of similar size struck them.

Alright, so I don't see anything that would prevent me from approving this, and if you absolutely want to leave this part as is that's fine, but, um. 50 meters a second is not fast. That's significantly slower than your average bullet. Point in fact, it's slower than your average arrow leaving a bow. My math shows it coming out to about 112 mph or about 180 km/h. So, they could be outran by a moderately quick minivan.

Maybe think on bumping that up a bit?
