DESCRIPTION
The YV-87 was the least expensive vessel from Kyprin Engineering Co's YV line of freighters and civilian transports. This was not to say the quality of construction was bad. On the contrary, the YV-87's efficient power reactor powered robust shields and its armor plating could take hits from even starfighter grade weaponry. It also handled like a dream but lacked heavily in the speed department. This nearly limited the vessel to local flights only as it still flew exceptionally well in the atmosphere however it's class one hyperdrive was also a long-range model, affording it the ability to jump several systems across a sector several times before requiring to refuel. This made it an effective courtier vessel and efficiently predictable light freighter for rookie pilots. Its controls were the basis for all of KEC's YV freighters and transports and so even though it lacked flashy weapons or a suped-up engine, designers and shareholders hoped it's reliability and ease of handling would bring back repeat customers after they were ready for a new flashier vessel. The hope was these repeats would be come from the same rookie pilots who chose the YV-87 for its low price and would stay after becoming comfortable with the quality and familiarity of their first ship's controls.

Small and intimate, the interior of the YV-87 boasted a small captain's quarters and two rooms with bunk beds that together equalled the size of the captain's quarters. The two sets of rooms sat opposite of one another in a hallway just behind the cargo bay. A refresher was installed just before the entrance to the crew quarters area. A telescopic ladder was installed into the ceiling hatch in this hallway that led to the outside hull, just beside superstructure that housed the majority of the ship's systems. While this made repairs in space perilous, the panels on the structure were easy to move and manipulate. Alternatively, an astromech elevator beside the captain's quarters door allowed for a single astromech to be brought to the opposite side of the structure. The cargo bay was anything but vast and was surrounded on all sides by counter and cabinet space for the crew to utilize. The main entrance to the vessel was also here. The ramp took up a majority of the center floor space and was sturdy enough to support small vehicles like swoops, speeder bikes, and other small, wheeled vehicles. Just beyond the cargo bay was the cockpit which sported four chairs and a galley, one of two on the ship.

To say the vessel was spartan was an understatement, but the cargo bay offered plenty of space for small crews to do various activities and the added benefit of an included G5-series astromech. A good hammock is your best friend.
