Yula's Left Eye is a cybernetic implant created to replace the organic eye taken by
Zaavik Perl
during the battle of Krayiss II. The battle had been jarring for her—instead of facing Sith warriors as she'd presumed, Yula's own cousin, driven by the Dark side of the Force stood as her opponent. A confused and hurt Yula tried her best to make sense of Zaavik's betrayal and sway him away from the dark path he was going down, but she failed. In the scuffle, she'd lost her eye to Zaavik's blade, and her cousin to the Dark side.In the months that followed, Yula slipped into a depressive episode. Her organic eye had to be removed lest it become infected and was subsequently sewn shut. Even though she'd been cleared for cybernetic surgery, Yula elected to learn to live with her impaired vision for the time being. It felt like a fitting punishment for a life of selfishness that culminated to the failure of being able to save her family—Nida,
Kyra Perl
, and now Zaavik. After a few months elapsed, Yula began a series of attempts to build a cybernetic eye for herself. An experienced engineer who'd constructed a cybernetic arm for her younger sister, she was confident in her abilities, but soon found that bionic organs were far more sophisticated than anticipated. Each model she created ended up discarded or smashed to the floor in abject frustration. After one particular failure, Yula ended up overdosing on spice and was fortunately revived by
Dagon Kaze
and his timely intervention.The recovery was slow, and eventually Yula realized that she could not develop such a complicated implant on her own. In lieu of hiring a professional who was experienced with complex cybernetics, Yula snuck into the University of Denon's Cybernetics and Bionics program under a falsified student ID she'd purchased on the holonet. There, she was able to expand her knowledge of cybernetics and make use of the advanced technology on campus. After half a year posing as a student and missing nearly every exam resulting in her academic probation, Yula had developed a functioning cybernetic implant that can double as a stand-alone droid.
>> FEATURES
Yula's Eye comes equipped with a number of useful features. The HT Sensor Suite, a chip containing commonly used sensors and scanners, allows Yula to flip between various scanning modes including lifeform, infrared, combat, range-finding, and terrain. The Eye is also capable of receiving data including maps and other information, which can be projected outwards. Additionally, the Eye serves to function as an electrobinocular that zooms in or out, and records live feed that can be stored or streamed to an external device. Finally, when detached, the Eye itself can operate as a surveillance droid, skittering around on four tiny droid legs. When being used as a droid, the Eye can be instructed to explore a certain area or controlled remotely. Live feed from the Eye can be streamed to an external device.
Yula's Left Eye has good resistance to EMP/Ion weaponry, though particularly strong or repeated EMP/Ion attacks can affection the functionality of the eye, which can include slow processing, loss of vision, sensor scrambling, and powering down entirely. While far more durable than an organic eye, Yula's Eye can be pierced or shattered with enough pressure or force. Being cybernetic, this implant is vulnerable to the use of technopathic abilities in the Force, though that may not be the best approach given Yula's own technopath capabilities. It has no armaments or defensive abilities to speak of, aside from the durability of its build.
