APPEARANCE:

Yuan Ji is a young adult Kaminoan of average and unassuming appearance. As a Kaminoan he mostly stands tall and lithe compared to most other humanoids.

BIOGRAPHY:

Yuan Ji's family left the homeworld long ago during one of the many political upheavals the Kaminoan people have been forced to endure with a galaxy in a constant state of flux. The Kaminoan diaspora was not a great upheaval in terms of the population of Kamino, but the communities that it created can still be found across the galaxy in small pockets.

One such pocket is the Tarisian community built upon a tradition of medical specialists who were dealing with the various diseases that still effected denizens of the Lower City and Undercity. The Yuans were among the more successful of the migrant doctors, making a steady flow of credits in addition to their charitable work.

The Yuan family still had connections in the homeworld that they had not truly severed, and while they were successful in their new home they wished to give at least one member of their family a traditional education. And for Kaminoans, there is little more traditional a calling than becoming a Master Cloner and brining prestige and credits to the family through lucrative cloning contracts.

Ji was sent to live with Yuan relatives on the homeworld while apprenticing at the Lama Su Memorial University, one of the most prestigious cloning trainers in the entire sector. Unfortunately during the 4 year ciriculum process Ji spent more time diving through the cloning archives and databases than paying attention to his classes and taking notes. His entire graduation grade relied on the final cloning project. This project was a test of your own original work in cloning a stable and viable subject.

Because of his lack of preparations however, Ji was left with a very unoriginal option. That was to go back to the very basics of Kaminoan cloning. That project that once put them on the map all those generations ago.

A pure Jango Fett clone, created from a degraded genetic sample centuries old. In terms of originality this was perhaps the furthest anyone could get for the concept. In most cases this would be a failing grade that would see him drummed out of the University without his proper credentials or certifications. However, the silver lining was that for how unoriginal the project was, it was completed in a rather spectacularly complete form.

The degraded sample was considered very nearly unusable by the majority of experts at the university. DNA, especially a sample centuries old is simply not fit for use as a basis for a cloning project. However, by considering the right genetic sequences and protein modifications necessary, it was discovered that It was indeed possible to create a viable and stable template out of the ancient sample.

The Jango Fett clone managed to pass every single test of physical and mental health over a lengthy period of observation. In terms of originality, a complete failure, in terms of execution, this was a project that could only be deemed a miracle.

However, grades and parameters are grades and parameters. The final score for the project was a disappointing 66%, barely considered passing by the unversity's high standards. Yet, the project was a technical success, and Yuan Ji was part of a graduating class of Cloners ready to assume their place in the Kaminoan workforce.

Unfortunately that degree came with it a serious of financial consequences. In order to pay for food, housing, and tuition the Yuan family had to negotiate with various banks and the university for grants and loans. What this meant was that Ji had to find a job quickly in order to meet certain interest rate deadlines or he would face sanctions upon his license.

Getting a legitimate job in a Kaminoan Cloning facility would mostly be enough to meet the interest payments, but it would be very difficult to begin chipping away at the debt balance itself. Despite being an accredited Cloner there was still a spark of that Tarisian defiance in him and the willingness to make money.

So what do you do if you have need money, aren't a killer, and do have at least some startup capital to buy a ship? You become a smuggler. And when you become a smuggler you need a co-pilot, and that pilot was and is the project that helped him get on this path to begin with. Sixty Six and his "father" have now been in business together for several years now attempting to do jobs that will pay off Ji's college debts. Most of the time their money made is squandered trying to pay for upkeep and Ji's new pet project.

During his time at the university, Ji was drawn into the study and analysis of attempts at cloning Force Sensitive Individuals. This was ground that had been tread many times before, but never in a cohesive and stable manner that would be conducive to industrial scale. The facts as Ji understood them were that most attempts at cloning force sensitive individuals ran into problems of genetic, mental, and some might even say spirtiual stability. Ji did not have many opinions on the Space Wizards of either Cloak himself, but knew that something about their beliefs had to be effecting these projects.

His research indicated that among the most successful projects in this regard was the X series of clones. Of which there were only two. X1 and X2 both clones of ancient Jedi Master Fallon Grey. Records of the time indicated that both clones were considered powerful practitioners of force sensitive arts and did not suffer defects related to the cloning process. Defects noted were nothing that would be out of place among other Bogan designated individuals. This led to Ji's appraisal that X1 and X2 could be considered successful and stable clones of the force sensitive variety.

Unfortunately, the data related to creating X1 and X2 was considered lost to time and scientific archives and the ravages of time. To uncover the secrets of the X Project would require time, energy, and most importantly money. Which is why even after all these years of doing odd jobs and smuggling Ji still has not paid off his student loans. However Ji is convinced that if the breakthrough occurs at the right time and with the support of the right people, this project could revolutionize the cloning business as the galaxy knows it. He may nor may not actually realize the theological, moral, and political consequences that such a breakthrough would have, but that's a question for if, no when, he makes it that far.

For the moment, it's odd jobs, spice, and other contraband that keeps the bills paid and the lights on. if all goes well, this will be something as revolutionary as the GAR, if not, there's always loan re-negociation and hoping for student debt cancelations.
