Personality and Beliefs
Much of Hojkstra's personality is largely shaped by her early life experiences. From a young age, she learned the harsh truth that the strong do what they can and the weak suffer what they must. This perspective fostered both significant ambition and a persistent need to maintain control over her environment and circumstances.
Throughout her career, Hojkstra developed her composure and professionalism, demonstrating discipline in high-pressure situations. However, she also bears the short temper (maternally inherited) of her brother, which she actively attempts to manage. On occasions when this temper surfaces, it has led to repercussions and even regret.

  • Management
  • Severe need for control
  • Determination / Ambition
  • Field Agent experience
  • Suppressed Temper
  • Non-force User
  • Deceitful
  • Great with a scalpel, clumsy with a hammer

History

Early Life

Ysanne Hojkstra was born on an unaligned, civilized world situated between the Mid Rim and Outer Rim, a planet marked by systemic corruption, economic inequality, and pervasive lawlessness. Growing up in neglect and social stratification, she developed a pragmatic and opportunistic outlook from an early age.

As the elder of two children, Hojkstra assumed a strong sense of responsibility for her family’s welfare. Determined to escape her homeworld’s instability, she left the planet and enrolled in the Sub-Adult Group (SAGroup) of the New Imperial Order’s Commission for the Preservation of the New Order (COMPNOR). During her tenure in SAGroup, she befriended Konrad Harrsk, son of Jaeger Harrsk, the Commissioner of the Coalition for Improvements. The association significantly expanded her prospects within the Imperial hierarchy.

Following Konrad into the Coalition for Improvements, Hojkstra quickly demonstrated loyalty, administrative competence, and political acumen. Her talents drew the attention of Jaeger Harrsk, who took her on as a protégé.

Career

Service in Imperial Intelligence

Recognizing Hojkstra’s aptitude for command and administration but judging her field experience insufficient, Jaeger Harrsk arranged for her transfer into Imperial Intelligence. Officially assigned as a field agent, she covertly operated as Harrsk’s Political Reliability Observer within the organization, serving as his eyes and ears.

During the Third Imperial Civil War, Hojkstra distinguished herself through operational effectiveness and disciplined secrecy. She honed her physical endurance, analytical skills, and capacity for deception, ensuring her role as Harrsk’s plant remained undiscovered. In parallel with her field duties, she assisted in the planning and preparation of a contingency planknown as Operation: Daala.

Axis of Shadows

After establishing her credibility within Imperial Intelligence and earning Harrsk’s trust, Hojkstra was recalled to the Coalition for Improvements and dispatched to the Axis of Shadows. She endured two years of rigorous and often brutal conditioning to become a Shadow operative.

Hojkstra successfully completed all required trials except the final assessment, the Trial of Will. Despite this failure, she was returned to the Coalition to serve Jaeger Harrsk during his final years.

Operation: Daala

In the closing stages of the Third Imperial Civil War, the Sith Empire launched a major offensive against the New Imperial Order, targeting Muunilinst. Facing a potentially decisive defeat, Jaeger Harrsk activated Operation: Daala, a contingency plan involving a proposed Base Delta Zero bombardment of Muunilinst. The operation aimed to eliminate both New Imperial and Sith Imperial leadership, enabling Harrsk to consolidate power and proclaim himself Emperor, thereby instituting a reformed Imperial regime founded on Tarkinist principles.

Before the order could be issued, Harrsk was killed by Enlil. As a result, Operation: Daala was never executed. At the time, Hojkstra was stationed aboard one of the stealth-equipped Star Destroyers designated to participate in the planned bombardment.

Age of Strife

Following Harrsk’s death and the gradual collapse of the New Imperial Order during the period known as the Age of Strife, Hojkstra became increasingly disillusioned. With her mentor gone and his son unable to command comparable authority, she reassessed the failures of Imperial leadership.

Hojkstra concluded that Harrsk’s ambitions had exceeded his practical means and that impatience and overreach had led to his downfall. The broader decline of the Empire further eroded her confidence in the viability of grand Imperial restoration. Nevertheless, she remained conflicted about abandoning the Imperial ideal altogether.

Post-New Imperial Activities

Independent Company of Settlers

After the Galactic Alliance emerged as the dominant galactic power, Hojkstra and a number of like-minded former Imperials founded the Independent Company of Settlers. Structured as a corporation, its stated aim was to establish peaceful settlements on uninhabited worlds, allowing former Imperials to withdraw from political conflict and live in peace from the Galactic Alliance.

The venture was initially conceived as a farewell to arms, a peaceful retirement. However, Hojkstra found herself dissatisfied with a purely civilian life.

Krykna

In response to her lingering loyalties and ambitions, Hojkstra established Krykna, a clandestine network designed to assist former New Imperials in evading Galactic Alliance justice. The organization provided new identities, relocation services, and logistical support across the galaxy through covert transit routes known as the Mynocklines.

But beyond simple relocation and new identities, Krykna pursued broader strategic objectives. Under Hojkstra’s direction, it sought to consolidate financial assets, personnel, and influence in preparation for a potential future resurgence of Imperial power.

Corporate Sector Operations

Hojkstra centralized Krykna’s activities within the Corporate Sector Authority, exploiting the region’s opaque governance and autonomy from the Galactic Alliance. Former Imperials were placed in influential corporate and administrative positions, leveraging their expertise to build economic strength and political leverage.

Drawing upon her background in Imperial Intelligence and COMPNOR, Hojkstra operated as an information broker within the Corporate Sector, maintaining an extensive network of contacts. Through this dual role as corporate magnate and clandestine coordinator, she emerged as a significant figure in post-Imperial power structures.

Tarkin Initiative

We're back, baby.

Leverage

Assets

Influence

  • New Imperial Remnant: Moderate, but mostly over former COMPNOR functionaries and Intelligence officers.
  • Axis of Shadows: Moderate; with Konrad and Jaeger both dead, she is considered somewhat of a heiress.
  • Republika Mantellska: Significant; a large part of her Imperial career was spent on arming, funding, and advising the Mantellskan separatists.
  • Kandaran Shabab: Limited; her standing within the pro-Imperial movement is largely derivative, exerted indirectly through her established influence in the Axis of Shadows.
Story Beats & Plot Hooks
  • Villain: I've always enjoyed villains without supernatural powers at their disposal. Isard, Thrawn... I hope to provide a solid foil, an elusive antagonist, to any hero.
  • Dissociative Legacy Disorder: I want her to be in constant conflict between honoring the expected Harrsk legacy and carving out her own. Something like duty vs. self.
  • Power:
  • TBA as I explore the character more:
// thanks for the template, Lexington.
